Chapter 12 - Letters
-Chapter 12-
~Skys POV~
I continued to keep my hands on Tys waist, holding him as close as possible, even after the rays of the mornings emptied into the window.
By then, the smaller had drifted off to sleep, and I was smiling down as I rocked him gently. His breaths were soft, and he was tucked in my arms, head resting on my chest. I giggled as he snored softly, his nose flicking or eyelids fluttering every once and in a while.
I frowned suddenly, pulling back his long, brown locks and looking at the large gash that was left on his forehead, it was an ugly, scarred and swollen red, and it made my sick that Ty had to go through injuries like these.
Poor, innocent Ty...
I smiled softly and squeezed him tightly.
My Ty.
------------
Somewhere in the middle of the morning, I had moved to the bed, and fell asleep with Ty still wrapped protectively in my arms. I swore that I wouldn't let him go, or let him fall victim to anyone else's abuse.
Not anymore.
I awoke to a nurse, grabbing my shoulder and shaking it roughly. I let out a grown of annoyance, rolling over to look up at her.
"Sir," she said with an apologetic ton for waking me up. "There are two people outside. They'd like to ask Tyler about his story and his experience with his father."
I nodded tiredly, glancing down at the adorably-sleeping Ty and wincing at the thought of disturbing the sleeping beauty. He glanced up at the nurse, shooting her a begging look. "Could you please ask them to come back to? I hate the idea of making him wake up." He spoke softly.
The nurse bit her lip before slowly nodded, a decisive look in her eyes. "I'm sorry, sir." She said, whispering as well. "But this has to happen now. I can give you twenty minutes more for him to sleep, but then you have to get up. He can go to sleep right after."
I let out a soft breath, but nodded, understanding her motives and accepting them. "Okay, I understand. Send them in in twenty."
A short nod, and then the sound of the closing door echoing through the room.
Sighing, I turned back to the sleeping princess, leaning down and pressing a kiss to his forehead. "Don't you worry, Ty." I grinned softly. "I'll protect you." I wrapped an arm around his waist and pulled him closer. "Forever."
Twenty minutes later, two reporters stood before Ty and I, both eyeing the arm I had around his waist as they jotted down notes.
Oh god ; I can imagine the headline now. SON OF FAMOUS STAR FOUND AND GAY.
"So Ty!" Cried one of the reporters, clapping her hands together and grinning at us. "Let's start from the beginning, shall we? What happened to ensue your father running away with you?"
"Well..." Ty shuffled uncomfortably under my arm, and I squeezed him close, sensing how nervous he was. "Once my mom died, I went over to my fathers custody." He shivered softly. "My dad never cared about me, but I didn't see the signs growing up. I was about six or seven when I heard my dad arguing on the phone with the social security people. They wanted to take me away, but he refused, because he wanted to us moms money that I would inherit to buy drugs and alcohol."
"So he was out for your money?"
"Pretty much, yeah." Ty moved closer to me, so he was fully snuggled against my body, and I couldn't help but grin at his adorableness.
"Hm...interesting..." Both Ty and I winced in unison at his life's story being described as "interesting". As if it were a fairy tail or book.
"That was the first night, I guess." Ty looked down at his feet, shuffling them awkwardly . "Dad told me to pack everything up..and suddenly we were on the run." Tears pricked at the sides of the smallers eyes. "I had nothing. We would sleep in the woods and I would have to cuddle up to my dog in order to deep warm at all. It was hell. I got no sleep and no food. I got no peace." He swallowed hard, and I gently squeezed him to me, prepared to hide him from the glares of the reporters if needed.
"Please, go on." The woman referenced for him to continue.
"Well...the day I got away. We had been on the run for 11 years...and I was alone. I didn't even THINK. I just took my dogs leash and ran. And then," he placed a hand on my leg. "He found me. And everything seemed to get better."
The reporter grinned, rising up from her chair with several pages full, along with the male next to her. "Okay, we know what happens after, so thank you for that story."
She reached out, and Ty moved to shake her hand, but was surprising when she pulled out a vanilla envelope instead and shoved it into his arms.
"I have been asked to give you this. Merry Christmas, Tyler." She sent a grin in the younger's direction, and then left the room.
"...Huh..." Ty moved quickly, sitting down on the bed and letting his fingers tear at the paper.
"A check and a letter..." He mumbled, staring down at the objects.
"Read the letter!"
"Dear Tyler,
I love you, sweetheart. If I'm already gone, I know you want to hear this. I don't know how long I've been gone, but the meaning doesn't fade, does it?
I really hope you haven't falled into the arms of my ex-husband, and, even though I have it written all over my will that you will NOT, I know he will find a ways. He always did.
I'm so sorry I wasn't here to give you this myself. I wish I could've controlled this.
But, my biggest wish is that you are okay. Maybe you've found a girl, or hell, even a boy. Maybe you're living alone and are a strong, independent young man. Or maybe you're still at your guardians home, laying in front of the television and eating potato chips. You've always been a home body.
Embedded with this letter in a check. It is the amount to which I have left to you. Please be VERY careful with it. I know you'll do well.
Again, I love you sweetie. For me, please be happy. I'll be watching you from heaven.
~Mom
Ty felt tears pulling at his eyes as he turned the letter to look at the check, his fingers shaking tremendously.
"T-Ten million..."
