Chapter 10 - Caught
-Chapter 10-
~Skys POV~
I physically felt my heart shatter inside my chest, tears dotting at my eyes as I watched my little Ty crumple into a bleeding ball. I tried to rush forward, but a hand caught my shoulder, keeping me from rescuing him.
I looked back, meeting the disappointing glance from the policemen. He connected his eyes with me, shaking his head firmly.
"Let us take care of this. You'll get hurt if you do anything."
Another hurt squeal from Ty as his 'father' slammed him against the wall again, a loud crack sounding out. Everyone froze as Ty sobbed violently, his sounds truly heartbreaking and hurtful.
Well, almost everyone.
Tys father grinned, leaning down and clutching Tys chin in between his fingers. He chuckled hallowly, tightening his grip and grinning at Tys whimper. "I absolutely love hearing you cry..."
That's it. I snapped, grabbing the man by the arm and hissing "if you say you're going to save him, fucking do it, or I will."
They all seemed to wake up. One by one, they approaching the man, slowly at first. Thankfully, Tys father didn't seem to be armed, so the likelihood of him threatening to kill Ty if they got closer wasn't likely, seeing as he had nothing to do it with.
At least, that's what I thought at first. A loud sound, and another crack, and Ty was in a chock hold.
Everything was going too fast for my brain. I was on my knees, sobs wracking my body as I heard the pained cries from the innocent boy. He didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve any of this ; not a single damn piece of it.
"Make a move," growled the vicious father, surging forward slightly and locking eyes with the police. "And I'll snap his neck. Just like that."
The policemen looked back, seemingly asking ME of what we should do. Tears flooded down my cheeks as I shook my head as I slowly shook my head, a ball forming in my throat and keeping the words from coming out.
"....P....Put d...down your w...weapons..."
Tys father chuckled evily as the men complied, placing down the guns and taking a single step back, ready to snatch up the weapons, just in case.
I used this moment, raising to my shaky feet and almost collapsing. Locking eyes with Ty, I reached out my hand, his eyes weak and begging. "Don't worry...I'll make sure you'll be okay."
I hoped I could keep that promise, but I wasn't positive.
"Now," I tried my best to be smooth, despite the fact that I was completely breaking inside. "It's pretty clear what you want from Ty, so...if we give it to you, if he complies, will you let him go...?" It was a shot in the dark.
I knew people. I knew that he didn't hate Ty because he was Ty. No, I knew better. Hate comes from jealously, and jealously comes from a deep need for a specific thing.
The one problem? I was lying. I have no idea what he's jealous over.
If I could just get him to say it, then I could give it to him, and then I'll have Ty back in my own arms.
The man tipped his head to one side, his lips screwing up in a decisive manor. His eyebrows tipped downward as he looked into my eyes. "Maybe, but I want the FULL sum. No cutting edges, no taking some, the FULL. AMOUNT."
Oh, that was rather obvious, wasn't it? He wants the money Tys mother left for him. Probably quite a lot.
"Okay." I nodded quickly, mouth setting firmly. "No problem. You can have it, all of it, down to the very last penny."
He laughed softly, nodded as his eyes lit up. Turning to the police, he raised a giddy eyebrow. "Is this true? Will I really get my sums?" He prodded, taking a step forward and slightly choking a green-looking Ty.
The policemen nodded rapidly, desperation clear in all of their eyes. "You shall." Said the lead warrior. "You'll get all the money you need, we can swear on that, just put down the boy."
Slowly, laughing as if he had succeeded, the cruel father released the boy, his arms leaving his neck and letting Ty take in mouth-fulls of air. Color slowly, steadily, returned to his face.
Ha. That idiot.
In a single, fluid moment, the police had snatched Ty up by the arm (rather roughly, min my opinion) and threw him over to me. He hit my arms, and I envoloped him, gently pressing his head into my chest as he cried.
"W...WAIT!" Screamed the man as he was handcuffed, eyes wide and clearly confused. "What are you doing?!?! My SUM!"
"You're a real idiot." Laughed the head policemen. "Seriously. What is your IQ? Negative ten? There's no way in hell you're getting that money. The only digits you're getting is twenty years in jail."
I blocked them out from then on, the only sound being the fathers angry screams as he dragged out of the house.
I focused everything on Ty, who was still hysterically sobbing in my arms, his hands covering his face. I gently ran my fingers through his hair, frowning as I noticed a rather large gash in his head. "Don't worry Ty, I've got you and he's gone now, I swear. I promise."
This time, I swore to keep that promise.
A few moments later, I was still running my fingers through his hair, holding him softly, when a thought entered my head. I grinned uncontrollably, pressing my hand on Tys back and bring him closer.
"Christmas is so close, Ty. I can promise that you'll have an amazing time this year, for the first time."
Ty lifted up his head, a grin plastered on his face as his eyes slowly closed. "I'm so happy, Adam..."
And then, he passed out in my arms.
