Speculation has said that this shield can provide nutrients to the body by producing jelly inside the bone structure found at the center, and I have seen this happen following a long and harsh battle. The jelly inside is hard but also pretty sweet. Many days after exhausting battles, Beumarrang and I would chat in front of a fireplace as I had this for dessert. I've even begun making gelatin dishes as a side-gig. It always brings a smile to my face, really.
