darkened veins trickled from diana's palm into kennedy's face. kennedy's eyes shot open, her eyes shining a bright gold as a rush of energy surged through her. as diana's station wagon sped through hawkins with a monster close behind, and dustin sang never ending story with his very real girlfriend, something began to change inside of kennedy.

her body buzzed and began to ache at the sudden shift. her eyes shone even brighter than before. kennedy gasped, her grip on diana's hand tightened. all the air she once had in her lungs was gone and her entire body tensed. the veins darken and transfer faster.

diana saw it. the last thing she saw with the ever-so-proud smile. kennedy's yellow eyes began to darken. changing into a glowing scarlet. the power kennedy now contained was stronger than anything she had before. it only lasted for a moment. a fleeting second of ruby before fading back to gold.
