I started to get ready for midsummer ignoring my parents yelling. I put the dress that my mom bought me, it's a long red dress with a cleavage

"Are you ready?" My mom asks as she knocks on the door "yeah come in" I says, she enters my room with a wrapped box in her hands "what is it?" I asks "open it" she says with a smile as she hands me the box

I open it reviling a gold necklace "I thought it would get along with the dress" she says as she took the necklace from the box, I turned around letting her put the necklace around my neck

"thank you, I love it" I says with a smile as I looked at myself in the mirror "you are beautiful" she says making my smile bigger

"I know your dad can be annoying sometimes but just give him some time" she says "he wouldn't be happy about me hanging out with the pogues will he?" I says turning around and facing her

"Even if he will it doesn't mean you'd have to stop hanging out with them" she says "like last time?" I asks, referring to the last time it happened and I did stopped seeing the pogues.

"I promise everything will be fine. Get downstairs when you'll finish getting ready" she says and I nod

I finishes my makeup and my hair before I walks downstairs "hey honey" my dad says "sorry about earlier" he adds "that's fine" I says before we gets into the car

We all walks together into midsummer as a family, I planned on walking in with Rafe but that obviously didn't happened.

I am waiting for Sarah while my parents were talking to some of their friends. Me and Sarah haven't hang out in a while, just talked on the phone but nothing more.

I saw the Camerons walking in, Topper wasn't with Sarah which was good but confusing because she said they were planning on walking in together a few days ago

I know Sarah and Topper haven't been great lately, I wanted to ask her about him tonight. After they have finished waving I walked up to her.

"hey" I says with a smile as I hugged her "I missed you" she says making me smile "yeah me too" I face her "I thought you were walking in with Rafe" she says

"I thought you were walking in with Topper" I says "okay obviously we need to catch up, and I was dying to tell you some stuff" she says

"Okay now you're freaking me out" I says "how didn't you tell me you're in a treasure haunt with John B?" She says with a chuckle

"Wait- how do you even know?" I asks "I went to Chapel Hill with him to help him find some map and he told me about the treasure haunt, he also told me you're in this too" she explains

"wait hold on- you went to chapel Hill with John B?" I says "yeah" she nods "what's been going on there?" I asks "I don't know" I watch her face turns red

"this is great I've been dying for you to get rid of Topper. Oh my god I am so happy for you" I says

I was angry at the way John B treated me today but I honestly hates Topper and I prefer anyone but him. I was mostly happy for her

"Don't talk about it with anyone though, my dad said I should break up with Topper after midsummer and focus on having fun tonight so I haven't broken up with him yet... but I am planning to" she says "that's great" I says

"okay so now it's your turn" she says "what do you mean?" I asks "come on. You and Rafe!" She says "oh! Yeah yeah, we broke up" I simply says

"About time" she says making me laugh "yeah, I couldn't take it anymore" I says and she looked at me with a smirk "what?" I asks

"Oh my god Haley are you into that Maybank boy?" She says almost laughing at me "what? No way" I says

"You are!" She gasps "fuck off" I says with a chuckle before Topper walks up to us

"Hey Sarah, I waited on you, you said you wanted to walk in together. Can we talk for a second?" Topper says I look at Sarah as she gives me a little nod assuring me it's okay before they walked away

After a few minutes she walks to me, seems upset "what happed?" I asks "Topper started asking me some questions about where have I been yesterday and all that's stuff" she says

"What did you tell him?" I asks "that I was with a friend at Chapel Hill" she says "not regular friend" I winks at her

"Yeah, you won't be laughing for too long" she says "what did you say to him?" I sighs "I kinda told him I was with you" she says

"Oh my god" I groans "I am sorry, I didn't know what to do. I freaked out" she says "nah, it's fine. I got you, girl" I says

"Are you okay though?" I adds "yeah I just want it to get over with you know?" She says "yeah I get that" I says "fuck Topper, fuck Rafe, let's have fun" I smirks before I goes to bring us some drinks

"I am gonna dance with my sister" Sarah says, completely drunk at this point "yeah okay" I says and walks towards Kie

"Hey" Kie says offering me a smile "aren't you suppose to be Rafe's date or something?" She adds "we broke up" I says

"Wait seriously?" She asks and I nod "yeah, I though it was pretty obvious after the fight" I says

"Isn't it JJ?" Kie asks as I sees Rafe and Kelce talking to Jay. this is not good. "not this shit again, man" I says, I am honestly tired of Rafe's bullshit

"I gotta go" I says before I sees Kelce and Rafe rans after Jay as they enters the building. I follows them

"Jay! Wait!" I says and he stops letting me catch up with him "Haley?" Jay says "yeah I saw you needed a little help" I says before he takes my hand and we keeps running

We reach the locker room but all of the bathrooms doors were locked, we walked away but then Rafes appears "hey what are you doing in the locker room?" He says as we walked to another way seeing another one of Rafe's bitches, shoving Jay

"Cute outfit" Jay comments as Kelce holds Jay by his neck with his hand from behind him, choking him "shut up!" Rafe says as I was trying to shove Kelce away from Jay but I was just grabbed by some random person "hey, don't touch her!" Jay yells as he struggles on Kelce grip

"Keep his head still I am gonna line this up" Rafe says posing as he's holding a golf stick, about to hit a ball in Jays direction "You are really haunting me you fucking psycho" I says looking at Rafe

"aw didn't you missed me?" He says "very Rafe of you. Five on two?" Jay says as he was fighting Kelce grips

"If you could please stop talking it's very disrespectful when I am trying to hit a ball. Learn your etiquette my friends" Rafe says

"Your face looks really bad, starting to look like your dad a lot more" Rafe says leaning closer to Jay, I couldn't take it anymore. I kicked the person behind me making him lose the grip on me, I punched Rafe before I shoves Kelce away from Jay

"Gentleman, is there a problem?" A security man appears "Pardon me, officer no there's not an issue I just- actually yes. No there is an issue. Uh we got a criminal trespass in progress here" Jay says

"Beep call it in, right? blatant disrespect for private property. I am in violation of all kinds of shit sir, but these young gentlemen..." he says fixing Kelce tie "don't touch my shit" Kelce says shoving Jays hands

"uh caught me sir and they're about to take me away and that's what you should do, escort me out of here" he adds "come one" the guard says as he takes him

"All right. Fix that tie son. You're looking spiffy too. You powderpuff girls have fun" Jay says "Tell this to Haley here who dressed like a slut" he says and before I could react Jay let's out of the guard mans grip and rans towards Rafe without hesitation "It's not worth it" I tells Jay before the guard man takes him away

"Fuck off Rafe" I says "what? Your dress is asking for it don't act innocent" he says and I roll my eyes, flipping him off before following Jay "it's okay everybody do not panic! Leave it to the men and woman in uniform" I hears Jay says

"Rose! you look like Lasy liberty" he says "let go of him!" Kie speaks "you can't just boot him! I invited him here, I am a member of this club" she says before Jay shoves the security guard "sorry about that" he says

"Hey, mandatory power hour at Rixon's Kie, Pope you as well all right?" He says "Hales you're coming too" he says walking towards me "nah I am out of the g-game after today" I says "oh yeah?" He says and I nod with a confusing expression before he grabs me by my legs with his hands and lifts me on his shoulder

"Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, pull me down!" I says as I was kicking him with my legs as he ran away with me on his shoulder "you have no way out Ms. Haley. Grace Baker" he says pulling me down

"who do you know my middle name you stalker" I asks "I have my resources" he says making me laugh as Kie and Pope were running towards us  "later losers!" John B says as we all ran away

"Hey, guys. So like my dads already gonna kill me. So what's this mandatory meeting about?" Pope asks as we all sit around campfire in a the forest

"Might as well tell him, man, before we're gaffed" Jay says "you ready for this?" John B asks "yeah" me and Kie says "so, the gold never went down with the Royal Merchant" John B says

"Oh my god. Here we go again with this" Pope says "No. all right, wait. Hear him out all right?" Jay say "it's been here the whole time, it's on the island" John B says

"Are you serious? Oh my god" Kie says "I'd like to voice my skepticism" Pope says "I am sure you would Pope, but can I please present you with my evidence sir?" John B says "proceed" Pope says

"All right. So, in my backup, I have a letter from Denmark Tanny" John B says "who the hell's that?" Kie questions "Denmark Tanny was a salve that's survived the Royal Merchant wreck. Check this out" John B answers

"I thought there no survivors" I says before John B hands Kie the letter, then she hands me "slaves weren't mentioned as crew members on the ship, but my dad, he found the complete manifest that was his big discovery"

"So Tanny used the gold from the Merchant to buy his freedom" John B says before I hand the latter to Pope

"After that, he bought his farm. Drumroll, please, because that farm is..." he says and Kie slapping her knees making a Drumroll sound

"Tannyhill plantation" he says "Tannyhill?" Kie repeats "yeah. So, after that he used his money to free even more slaves and then he sold a shit-ton of rice which pisses off all the white planters and then they decide to lynch him"

"So on the day they were coming to get him, he writes a latter to his son as farewell and in the last line of that letter, he leaves a coded massage about where to find the gold"

"Where?" Kie asks "harvest the wheat in parcel mine, near the water. Except... there's no wheat. You see, wheat is code for gold. Check this out" he says directing a flashlight on drawing of a gold with a wheat on it in the letter

"The gold is in parcel nine, near the water" he says reading the words that written under the drawing "holy shit" Pope says as Kie laughs

"All we need is an original survey map on the property, and we've found the gold" John B says "okay this might have a small chance of being actually true" Pope says as Jay walks towards John B and raise him inside an hug

"Hello! Fire! You're near the fire you're gonna burn" John B says "I am so proud of you right now" Jay says as he pulled John B down

"Thank you, that's really sweet of you" John B says laying a hand on Jays face, teasing him making me smile a bit. I was pissed at John B, but it was cute

"Okay, so, guys. What's the plan?" Pope asks "good question. So Sarah Cameron coming tonight she'll bring an original survey map-" John B explains before Kie interrupts

"Hold on- Sarah? Wh-why Sarah?" Kie asks "this is gonna be good" Jay says "Sarah um, she- she got me into the archives in Chapel Hill yesterday and that's where I got the latter" John B explains

"You were in Chapel Hill with Sarah Cameron? Did you knew about this?" She says looking at me "Uh..." I mumbles "answer me" she says

"Yeah but she only told me now in midsummers, I didn't knew before. I promise" I says "Wait did she really told you?" John B asks "yeah" I answers

"how couldn't you tell me?" Kie says "she only told me an hour ago!" I says trying to defend myself "but you had the chance to tell me, we talked" She says "I was about to, before Rafe and Kelce decided to jump JJ" I says

"How could you do this?" She says looking at John B "I was using her for access" he answers "there was access all right" Jay mumbles, I slightly hits him "did you tell her about the treasure?" Kie asks

"I was just trying to get into the archives" he says "is that a yes?" She says in disbelief "I- I left our key details" he says "were you using me too?" I asks looking at them

"At first" John B says "that's why you told me you don't want me in anymore" I says "no, Hales of course not. He didn't meant that" Jay says

"What the fuck I thought you see me as your friend" I says "we do" Pope says "you can't turn this at us, you kept a secret from me. This is the type of kook shit we don't want" Kie says

"Kie" Pope tries to calm her down "I heard about that literally an hour ago! And Sarah is my friend too" I says "yeah, we get why" Kie mumble loud enough for me to hear

"What did you just said?" I says "you can't trust Sarah and we obviously can't trust you" she says making me shake my head "Don't listen to her Hales" Jay says "no it's fine, I am out anyways" I walks away away "no wait. Hales!" He follows me

I stops and faces him "what?" I asks "please don't leave" he says "they don't want me here" I says, he looks down "it's fine. They don't have to like me. I don't want to bother you guys anymore"

"You don't bother us" he says looking at me "JJ" John B says "you should go" I says with a small smile, he shakes his head "it's fine I promise"

"I am sorry" he says "don't be" I says before he walks away to the pogues. I watched them talking around the fire, even when they are upset about each other you can tell they have good bond, I wish I could find that kind of friendship some day.

But today I realised it's not gonna be with them, they see me as a kook bitch and I don't want to be seen like this. I thought we really were becoming friends but I was wrong.

When I went back home I saw my dad is waiting for me, I didn't really thought about how he'd react to me running away with pogues

"Hey dad" I says "sit down" he says tapping on the sit next to him in couch and I sits down "what is going on with you?" He asks "nothing" I says

"Don't play dumb" he says, I looks down "seriously? Are you hanging out with pogues again?" He asks

"Don't worry I won't be hanging out with them anymore" I says "have you finally discover they real faces?" he asks "dad" I says "what? We just can't get along with those people" he says

"Don't talk about them like that" I says "why are you defending them?" He asks and I shrug, I honestly don't know the answers for that.

A/n: Haley might think that this is over with her and the pogues, but it's just the beginning.
