"We're in a middle of a test" Mr. Sunn answers "I am from the Vanderhorst foundation" the man says "Mr. Hayward. It's for you" Mr. Sunn says before Pope walks away as me, Kie and Jay shares a look

"Okay, what was that?" Kie whispers as Pope gets back, Pope raises a note with a wheat symbol on it as an answer "is that the wheat symbol?" Kie asks "what the f-" Jay says before Mr. Sunn glares at him "fu... fu... fudge?" Jay says

"Is this game of tag?" Jay asks as we walks to the library "I don't know" Kie says "am I gonna have to beat you with your protector? What's going on?" Jay says

"Seriously, Pope. You are driving me insane" I says "okay, so that guy was from the scholarship committee, take a look at this" he says holding us the note he showed us in class "read it" Jay says taking it from Popes hand

"Out loud" Kie tells Jay "I can't read cursive" Jay says before I chuckle "shut up" he says "Dear Mr. Hayward, I am reaching out because u have material evidence that can exonerate John B. Routledge. It's of vital importance that you come and meet me in person at my office at 27 king street, Charleston at 8:00 p.m what tonight. Please come alone. Regards C. Limbrey" Kie reads the latte

"What the fuck?" I says "Charleston?" Jay asks "it's like an eight hour drive plus the ferry, how will we get there tonight?" Pope asks "we'd have to leave right now" Jay says "I have a free period" Kie says

"Material evidence? What does that mean?" Jay asks "it means we can clear John Bs name" I says "oh, shit. Then we're going to Charleston" Jay says

"I gotta tell my mom" Kie says with a sigh "look, if we get it this time, we are not giving it to Shoupe" Kie says "yeah, no duh" Jay says before Pope sighs "what is it?" I asks

"I am not sure, but I think whoever this Z Limbrey person is, they might be related to the captain of the Royal Merchant" Pope says

We went to Kies because she wanted to talk to her parents before we'll leave to Charleston. We heard her and her parents argues as me, Jay and Pope were waiting in the car

"They're taking it very well" Jay says "shut up" I says "how'd you get this rig? I know your old man didn't let you have it" Jay says looking at Pope

"I undid the intake valves on the carburettors. Made it starts pinging" Pope says "and now you're just gonna take it to your cousin Jeff's house" Jay says "crash overnight" they both says

"I think I am rubbing off on you, Pope. Lying to your old man, stealing his truck, kinda sounds familiar" Jay says "Jay" I says "all right, that's sore subject. My bad" Jay says raising his hands as a defence

"How does your mom let you go with us to Charleston?" Jay asks looking at me "she didn't" I says "oh that's great" he sarcastically says

"I'd say we have about 18 hours before he loses his shit. So as long as we get back before then, I think we're good" Pope says "I am not going to boarding school!" Kie says as she walks towards the car

"It would give you structure" Mike says "they're not my people!" Kie says "look at your life right now! Look at your life!" Mike adds before Jay comes out of the he car and waves toward Mike "it's good to see y'all" Jay says

"Hi, uh, ma'am, sir. I... I promise to have her back at a reasonable hour and safe" Pope says "Pope..." I says "what are you doing?" Kie asks

"Haley? After what we've done for you? Seriously?" Anna asks "I appreciate that, but what we're going here is important" I says

"Important.... Kiara, listen to me. You wanna go, then you can go. But if you don't come back at the proper time, don't come back at all!" She yells "she's bluffing" Jay says "yeah, my mom's style" I says earring a glare from Jay "what? It was funny" I says

"Y'all have a good day" Jay says before Kie gets in "this shit would be so much easier without parents" Kie says

"My parents are just so paranoid of me being a Pogue, like it's the worst thing that could ever happen" Kie says while we were sitting on a boat to Charleston

"Hey, I hear they got good weed at boarding school, though" Jay says "I am not going to boarding school. They're gonna have to kidnap me, tie me up, and throw me in a van" Kie says

"Well I say... we just crumble some herb right now" he says handing Kie a joint "hey Kie, have you tried to hit John B back on the number yet?" Pope asks

"Like, twenty million times. Some random lady at a hotel keeps answering" Kie answers "well. Until we hear from them again, we gotta try and clear his name" Pope says

"Right now this latter is our best bet" Pope says before I takes the joint JJ gave Kie from her "Haley, you sure it's fine?" Kie asks before I take a hit "you were literally taking a hit a seconds ago" I says "it's not the same" Jay says before I takes another hit and Kie takes it out of my hand "hey!" I says

"What Pope are you gonna be today?" Kie asks offering the joint to Pope "come on, seriously?" I asks "I am good, I am gonna try to focus" Pope says "good Pope" Kie says sitting next to Jay "boring Pope" she whispers to Jay "I'll take that" Jay says

"I only got like two hits assholes" I rolls my eyes and sits down next to them

"Guys I've read this thing like thousands times. It makes no sense" Kie says as we were driving "I mean, the Limbreys own, like, half of Charleston, what do the kook kings of Charleston know about a murder on Kildare Island?" Kie asks "this is our best chance" I says

"Why you specifically? That's the other creepy thing, you know" Jay asks looking at Pope " 'please come alone' that's hella sus" Kie says, quoting the letter

"I was thinking the same thing. I think it's because-" Pope says before we hears the steam hissing "oh come on" Pope says "what's that?" I asks "pull over. That's a lot of smoke, even for you dad's truck" Kie says

"Pope, I got sensitive lungs, man!" Jay says as he was coughing "hey, breath. Man" I tells Jay "I am pulling over" Pope says before he pulls over "shit" Kie says "No. No. No. No." Pope says "oh my" Jay mumbles before we all gets out of the car

"It's gonna blow up" Kie says "no, it's not gonna blow up. You probably unhooked the radiator, Pope" Jay says "I haven't seen this before. You knocked the entire hubcap off!" He adds

"Whoo!" He says before he laughs "you might wanna reschedule your meeting tonight, Pope" Jay says "wait what? Can't you do something?" I asks Jay "what can I do, Haley?" He asks "fix it? Do your magic with cars maybe? I don't know!" I says "it's not magic-" he says before Pope interrupts us "Guys"

"Plan B? we could um.. public transportation. We could rent bikes" Kie says "yeah, it's the radiator" Jay says "my dad's gonna kill me" Pope says "yeah, he might. He might" Jay says

"I'll take that" Jay says as he takes a joint out of my hand as Pope and Kie were talking with a mechanic in some random garage we found

"Stop treating me like this" I says "like what?" He asks "like you need to take care of me, I can take care of myself you know" I says "Haley you were losing it this summer" he says

"But I am back to myself now and you still can't stop reminding me about the summer" I says "because it's not something you can just forget" he says

"You guys are smoking the same amount I smoke" I says "I just don't want it to get out of control" he says "but it wouldn't. We'd clear John Bs name, Sarah and him will be able to come back and everything will get back to normal" I says

"You'd be fine until then?" He asks "yeah" I nods "okay" he says "look, just a bit of weed is fine. It helps me with my anxiety" I says

"Okay, I trust you. But if anything happens just talk to me" he says "yeah, I will" I says before he hugs me "I just care about you" he says "I know" I says

"Guys, we're leaving" Kie says, me and Jay walks into the car. We stops at some random place just to crash at for the night

Kie, Pope and Jay were lying on the back of the truck as I was sitting under some tree. I felt a hand on my shoulder, I look up seeing Jay

"It's you again" I says with a sigh before he sits next to me "yep" he say "if it's another lecture about the summer-" I says but he interrupts me "no it's not- I just wanted to say I trust you. I am just scared and stressed lately... but I do trust you" he says

"And I know you're doing better, I am. I just don't wanna lose this moment where you are getting back to yourself, I am just scared something bad will happen" he say "I know. I am sorry if I scared you, but you gotta understand that I know how to take care of myself, and that's what I am doing" I says

"I know, I know" he says "and I promise you, it's just a little bit of weed, nothing more" I says, he rests his head on my shoulder

"Don't you wanna go to the car? With Pope and Kie?" I plays with his hair "nah they're having their moment. I just likes this view, you can go back if you want, I'll go in few moments anyways" he says "no it's okay, I don't wanna ruin the moment" I says, making him laugh

"Don't laugh at me, asshole" I slightly hits his head "I am not, I am not!" He says, I shakes my head before we both stares at the sky

"This cloud looks like turtle" he says pointing on a cloud "we should get a turtle and name it Kie" I says "I don't think we can 'get, a turtle" he says laughing

"No, we'd get like a huge pool and put it there and we'd get it some friends and we'd then" I says "yeah, I don't think that is going to ever happen" Jay says "if we'd get rich it will" I says "Yeah" he laughs

"This cloud looks like a boob" he points on another cloud "oh my god" I puts my hands on my face "what? Don't you see it?" He asks "You ruined the moment!" I whines "I am sorry!" He laughs

"Good morning, loved birds!" Kie wakes me and Jay up, I open my eyes and sees Jay is sitting next to me, under the same tree we were yesterday and I realises we fell asleep like that

"Gotta hit the road" she adds before she walks into the truck "come on, we gotta clear our friend's name" Jay stands up, he offers me his hand

"Let's save our friends" I takes his hand stands up, we walks into the truck before Kie starts driving

"Wonder where John B and Sarah are right now" Jay says as we were on our way to Charleston
