Chapter 4

Fair

Ass

Warning

So there is no NSFW content in this chapter, but I have a sneaking suspicion this is going to become rather,,, lemon-ish filled book, if you catch by drift. Tenya is going to start having some pretty suggestive dreams sometime soon as we move further along and his crush deepens or whatever, so if that isn't your jam, I apologize. I'll do my best to give warnings and such.

Third person pov

In love? Him? Okay, so maybe it wasn't as far fetched as he originally thought. Sitting here watching the barista flirt with Kit certainly made Tenya second guess how he felt about the boy. There was this dark, sour feeling curling in the pit of his stomach. Kit wasn't responding to the flirtations of the girl as his eyes flitted across the menu, but that didn't seem to deter her. Worst of all, she was good looking as well. Someone who'd look, dare Tenya say, cute with kit. With rosy, deep pink hair and large, blue eyes. They'd make quite the pair.

The issue was how much Tenya hated the idea.

Kit didn't seem particularly amused with the girl, but he didn't seem terribly annoyed either. As he ordered, he gave her a polite smile. It made Tenya's blood boil for some reason, and he couldn't make it stop. Just seeing the girl beam at him made him terribly angry. Again, he hadn't a clue why or how he could make it stop. She hadn't done anything wrong. In fact, from where he was sitting, she seemed perfectly pleasant. Cheerful. Just what Kit needed. Tenya wasn't small and petite, nor was he a girl, for that matter. He still couldn't help but get pissed off.

He glanced back down at his phone with a small frown. The article Tensei had sent him was originally meant to be something he just skimmed over and shrugged off. Obviously that had been the plan, seeing as Tenya hadn't thought he was in love. Well, now he was second guessing himself, and he found that he was checking the article more often than not for signs. This just so happened to be one, and he also hated that. Falling in love with Kit wasn't supposed to happen, after all.

He didn't really know what to do. Things seemed to be getting worse for him. Just the idea of Kit hanging out with someone irked him, which wasn't at all cool. He just couldn't help it! He couldn't focus long enough on his phone to read much of anything without glancing back at Kit and the barista. His teeth ground together almost completely against his will as Kit took the two drinks from the girl, his hand brushing hers twice. Twice.

"Ugh, finally." Kit hissed, setting down Tenya's cup in front of him. The jaws of whatever beast was previously clamping down on Tenya's heart vanished, and the dark something that had been looming over the part of him that was usually so calm and composed drifted away as Kit grinned at him in that very Kit-like way that Tenya loved. Just watching those crimson eyes sparkle left him moderately overjoyed. And decently relieved. He felt disgusted with himself, but couldn't deny how glad he was that Kit was over here with him, and no longer interacting with the barista. He made a mental note to offer to go order the drinks himself next time.

"She seemed to... ah, like you." Tenya tried his best to cover his distaste with a light tone, but if Kit's raised eyebrows were anything to go by, he hadn't done a very good job. Tenya immediately flushed red from embarrassment, lowering his gaze to his drink while silently hoping Kit didn't care enough to look too far into his odd behavior.  He didn't want Kit jumping to any conclusions before Tenya could come to any of his own. There was still a big chance that he wasn't in love with Kit, and just admired him as a person.

Kit sighed, more to himself than anything. Tenya blushing wasn't exactly new, but he couldn't deny that it made his heart pick up its pace ever so slightly. Unlike Tenya, he'd come to terms with the fact that he was totally crushing on his best friend. It wasn't particularly ideal, of course. Crushes were a huge pain in the ass, but they also weren't something controllable. You couldn't choose to simple 'get rid' of a crush, just like you couldn't choose who you got it on. Besides, if Kit was right about Tenya liking him back, then maybe things would work out for the better.

Getting with Tenya wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. In fact, it might even be the best thing that could ever happen to Kit. For one thing, Kit adored him. He was an amazing guy. A total genius. The issue was that... well, Kit just so happened to be a piece shit, and Tenya very clearly wasn't. As in, Kit didn't deserve Tenya. Just like Tenya didn't deserve to be saddled with such a worthless asshole. Kit had issues that expanded outside the norm. Ones he hadn't dared mention to Tenya for fear of upsetting him, getting rejection, or having Tenya try to fix them. He guessed he was a coward in that sense.

"Not my type." Kit said after a moment, bringing his drink up to his lips and taking a sip. Tenya blinked a bit, taken aback. He hadn't even thought about that. That Kit might have a 'type.'

"Then... what is your type, if you don't mind me asking?" Tenya tried to sound casual as he said, it, but curiosity bled heavy into his voice. Kit's eyes sparked with amusement as his friend's inner turmoil. Watching someone realize they'd been sitting in the closet for god knows how long was amusing. Watching them slowly come out to themselves and the world around them was even better. Kit was glad he got to witness it, even if it was torture for Tenya. The tall boy would figure it out eventually.

"Tall, blue eyes, glasses, large frame, handsome smile." Kit listed off, pursing his lips in thought. Tenya blinked at him rapidly, brain taking in the information at a snails pace as he tried to keep the curiosity off his face. Kit snapped his fingers suddenly, seeming to remember something. His sexuality was something he should probably mention, right? "I'm gay as hell, by the way."

Tenya couldn't hide his reaction to this. First, he choked very briefly, nearly knocking over his drink. His eyes widened next, and his lips parted in surprise as he stared at the unfazed Kit. The brunette looked more amused than anything else, sipping his hot chocolate idly as he waited for his friend to process. He watched his face get redder and redder, his blue eyes staring at Kit like he'd not only hung the moon, but shot three puppies in the process and revealed that he was somehow pregnant. It was a look of awe, bewilderment, and hope. How cute.

"B-But." Tenya cleared his throat and tried to compose himself the best he could, smoothing down his shirt as though that would help. Kit snorted at the rather sad attempt. "I'm... I'm tall, with blue eyes, and glasses, and a rather large frame." He choked the words out hesitantly. Kit feigned surprise.

"Oh, what a coincidence! You have a handsome smile, too. Who would have thought. I hadn't even noticed." Kit chirped in a manner that was nearly too happy. Tenya was too busy trying not to implode to notice. What did this mean? Did this mean that if Tenya were in love with him, that he... had a chance? Wait, he had a handsome smile? Kit had said that, right? Tenya didn't know what to do, or what to say! His heart was going to explode. He was on the verge of calling 119 (911 of Japan) due to the way his heart was erratically beating.

"Are you okay?" Kit checked after a second, bringing his hot chocolate to his lips. His now-red friend made a strangled choking noise in response, earning a shrug from the brunette. The Iida boy would calm down eventually. "You gonna drink that?"

With a burning and racing mind, he brought his cooling drink to his lips and took a tentative sip. He had a lot of thinking to do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kit wasn't exactly teasing Tenya. Brushing hands every so often was something that might happen on any ordinary day with any ordinary person, but he made sure to do it just a tad extra. He let their arms bump and made sure to observe and try and figure out what made Tenya tick. He was just gathering information was all, and maybe prompting Tenya closer and closer to the exit that would take him out of the closet. All Kit had to do was bide his time and try to figure out what Tenya liked.
So far, he seemed focused on two things. Kit's face, and his ass, to put it bluntly. More particularly his lips and his eyes. Kit was glad the tall teen found the crimson color alluring. Or maybe he didn't like them anymore than he'd like any other eyes. It was hard to tell. The lips thing was a clear sign that the little gay churn in Tenya's was doing its work producing thoughts. Eventually it would grow in size, if things went according to plan, and create even more.
The ass thing was yet another product of the churn. So, Kit made a mental note to experiment with bottoms. Shorts, pants, sweats, workout clothes. He'd try it all just to see what happened. A part of him was deathly curious. Nobody had ever really liked him before. Against his better judgement, Kit had had some fun in the past. It was only once or twice, involving a lot of alcohol and zero commitment. He hadn't since meeting Tenya. He wouldn't.
Tenya was endearing. He was determined and driven to an almost painful extent, and Kit loved that about him. Everything about him was just so... so Tenya. It actually hurt a little how much he admired him. He hadn't ever looked up to someone like that before. It was... he was taken aback, really. He almost didn't know what to do. Almost. But he also wasn't some fucking pansy either. Tenya was the best thing that had ever happened to him by far, and even... even if it was selfish, and he was a piece of shit, he wasn't too sure he was willing to let the taller boy go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tenya stumbled through his front door later that night with a dumbstruck smile on his face and a dazed look in his eyes. Nothing else had really happened. He and Kit had gone to a cafe, and then to a movie. They'd shared a bag of popcorn, and their hands had brushed several times during which. Kit either hadn't noticed or hadn't cared, too enraptured with the movie to care. That was another thing he liked. Movies. It was a piece of information that made Tenya feel even more giddy.

He wasn't sure he'd ever felt his heart soar in the way it was right now. Again, nothing else had happened since their conversation at the cafe, but Tenya couldn't help it. He was Kit's type! Of course, there was no telling if he was really in love with Kit. He was pretty sure he was, which worked out. But... Kit was so headstrong and bold. Did Tenya deserve him? Did he even want to be with a male like Tenya?

Tensei blinked down at his brother as the teen pulled off his shoes. He'd gotten home from patrol early and heard the boy come in. He was smiling, but also seemed deep in thought. Whatever was on his mind didn't seem too bad. Tensei knew immediately that it had something to do with Kit. Ever since their conversation during which Tensei had directed him to a random internet article that looked promising enough, Tenya had been mildly freaking out. His moods hopped from happy to troubled in the blink of an eye.

"You look happy. Something happen?" Tensei queried, lips stretching into a smile when Tenya jumped in surprise. He looked taken aback to see his older brother standing there.

"Ah..." Tenya trailed off, cheeks reddening. Still, his smile was practically glowing. "I'm Kit's type."

Tensei's brows raised, expression morphing into one of amusement as he crossed his arms over his chest, leaning against the wall. "Really now?" He chuckled. Tenya looked like an exited, hopeful puppy. It was honestly adorable.

"I... am unsure of what I should do with this information." Tenya admitted, smile dropping as his brows furrowed. Really, he had no idea what to do. So he was Kit's type. What did that really mean? Did Kit like him? Did Tenya like Kit? It didn't really make any real sense. He felt happy. Overjoyed, actually. His burst of jealousy from earlier felt like a distant memory, yet a crucial piece of evidence.

"Well, is he your type?" Tensei asked carefully. Tenya looked appalled.

"Of course he is." The younger Iida scoffed. Then, he paused, seeming to process what he'd said. "My goodness, he is."

Kit was everything attractive in Tenya's eyes. His personality had a lot of bite to it, but he was smart and picked his battles. He had naturally tan skin that looked incredibly soft, and brown locks of messy hair Tenya could just imagine running his hands through. He was a small person, but seemed just the right size. Like he would fit just perfectly in Tenya's arms. He had a small waist Tenya wanted to just hold, just to see what it felt like, and large crimson eyes. His grin was sly and cunning, and his lips... Tenya just wanted to... wanted to-

"You okay there?" Tensei waved a hand in front of his younger brother's face. The boy blinked a few times. Tensei watched red begin to creep up his younger brother's face, and deadpanned at him. He knew figuring out your sexuality through a crush you never expected to have was hard, but this was just sad to watch. He looked ready to spontaneously combust. Tensei didn't know what Kit was doing to the guy, but it was doing its work.

"I'm fine." Tenya assured, though it sounded like a lie even in his own ears. He brushed past his older brother, taking a deep breath to try and calm himself down. He pushed the thoughts of Kit out of his mind, only for them to come barreling back twice as strong. He swallowed thickly, trudging to his room with hopes that maybe Kit would appear in the middle of the night as he sometimes did.

"Ten Signs You're Low-Key In Love With Your Best Friend"

1.) Physical contact

Even something as minor as bumping shoulders is enough to send your heart running. If any form of physical contact with your best friend sends your cardiac muscle into mayhem and caused even the butterflies in your stomach to go doki-doki, you might be in love with them. Does your face and body get hot? Do tingles race up your spine? Do you get random urges to just touch them and be closer to them in hopes of maybe you'll brush hands? Maybe you even stare at them and admire their body or face. Maybe their smile or the way their brow crinkles when they laugh. If you're experiencing literally any of what I just said, brace yourself. You've got the love bug, honey!

2.) You want to be with them all the time

They could move into your house and you'd be totally and completely happy. You want them by your side at all times if at all possible. If they're not in your line of sight, they're on your mind. How are they doing? Are they getting enough sleep? Are they talking to someone else? Oh god, should you text them?! You hope and pray they'll ask to hang out. You genuinely adore their presence. You bask in it. Handcuffing yourself to them doesn't actually sound like a half-bad idea when you really think about it. Check yourself. You're either in love or unhealthily obsessed.

3.) Attractive

You find them attractive, but hey, you'd think that about anyone attractive. It's not just them, you say! Hahahahah! Yeah, you're wrong. You catch yourself admiring them all the time, don't you? I bet your heart even picks up it pace anytime they show even just a little more skin. Yes, I'm calling you out. Get it in your head. You're totally in love, or at least a little bit. Just admit it. They're hot and you've noticed. Open your eyes and see the light! Smell those roses! Love is in the air!

4.) Jealousy

Oh my, what's this? Does your heart lurch painfully whenever you see them with someone else who isn't you? Maybe they're flirting with someone, or someone is flirting with them. Maybe they're on a date, or simply interacting with another friend. It doesn't matter. If your gut flips uncomfortably and you feel an odd amount of resentment towards the person they're interacting with, you're probably jealous. You just want them to be by your side, right? You want their attention on you and not whoever the hell they're talking to. Check yourself. If you're overly jealous, you may be in love.
