Chapter 29

Third person pov

"You're home!" Kit crooned, immediately closing in on Tenya. The taller boy was too used to it to be as flustered anymore, catching him a little shyly around the waist as Kit's arms laced around his neck. His cheeks pinkened only slightly as Kit's lips were pressed to his in a quick smack. He gave the shorter boy squeeze, smiling despite himself. The brunette grinned in a sharp way that told Tenya his day off from school hadn't been taken on a whim. "I have a kick ass surprise!"

"Wow. That doesn't sound good." Izuku noted, not looking up from his phone. Kit scoffed. As if he didn't know what Kit was talking about. Little shit was getting sassier and sassier by the day. Kit was proud, of course, but he was still going to complain just for the sake of it. It was a part of his character! What good friendship didn't have some banter here and there? A jab on the left, an under-handed insult on the right.

"Ye of little faith. You're a piece of shit, you know that?" Kit waved a hand in his general direction. Tenya squeezed his shoulder in a scolding manner, giving him a disapproving look. Hot, which wasn't the topic right now, but Tenya's attractiveness was always important to note. Kit shoved himself into his boyfriend's side. Tenya felt his suspicion rise idly. Kit was touchy, yes, but Tenya got the distinct impression he was getting buttered up for something in particular. Was it working? No comment. Kit hummed in a considering manner that made Tenya's cheeks feel hot. "What even happened to you? Is this shit my fault?"

"Guess." Izuku kicked the door to Tenya's room open, waltzing in. Kit watched him go with raised brows. Tenya sighed, pulling his boyfriend closer. He gazed down at him, admiring the curve of his nose and jawline.

"It seems you really have rubbed off on him." Tenya sighed, shaking his head. He'd seen this coming, and Izuku wasn't nearly as bad as Kit was, but it was still disheartening. Not that he'd ever want Kit to change, of course! That wasn't what he was attempting to imply-- there wasn't anything wrong with him at all! Kit was perfect in every feasible way, even if he was troublesome at times. Tenya still adored him. Painfully so. How had he gotten to this point? To think he'd thought it was an allergy. Tensei was right, as usual. That had not been the case.

Kit was so small, and criminally pretty. Were boys supposed to be this pretty? Tenya didn't know, but he felt very gay. Which wasn't bad, just... still new. But not at the same time. The whole being in a relationship thing was something he was still getting the swing of, but he was basking in every minute of it. He felt oddly selfish for no particular reason, gazing at Kit with such admiration and continuously questioning how he'd managed to get with someone like Kit. Him, Tenya Iida, with such an amazing, hilarious, adorable, brash---

"I can rub off on you if you want me to." Kit purred. Tenya immediately locked up, thoughts halting and cheeks darkening. He sputtered at his boyfriend's laugh, eyeing his coy grin with mild disdain, his lips pressed together. He took a few deep breaths, trying to ignore the way Kit's lashes fluttered at him. His hands came to rest on the tan boy's upper hips for lack of anywhere else to put them, his hands so big compared to Kit's small waist. He could feel his face growing redder and redder as Kit practically hung off of him, grin impish. "That's not a no, hm?"

"Kit." Tenya said, voice not coming out as firm as he wanted it to. The boy cackled, pressing a wet kiss to his cheek and detaching himself before Tenya could melt into a puddle on the floor.

"You'll get used to it eventually!" Kit chirped, grabbing his hand readily and beginning to drag him off down the hall. "Now come on! I've got to show you shit."

"I'm not going in the bathroom with you." Tenya said immediately. Kit snickered.

"Someone's mind still hasn't left the gutter." Kit threw the bathroom door open with flourish, gesturing grandly. Tenya was getting so much more comfortable with his open flirting! He was even staring to reciprocate. Kit never pushed too far, but a little nudge here and there never hurt. Not enough to make him uncomfortable, but plenty to paint his cheeks a healthy shade of red. Was he an awful person? Undoubtedly, but come on. Tenya was too cute!

Tenya peeked in, his entire body going rigid. A woman he'd only seen in photos sat on a small stool, Inko Midoriya in the process of dying her white tresses into a much darker brown color. Tenya opened and closed his mouth in search of words as Inko smiled at them cheerfully, dipping her brush into the small bowl of dye Denise was holding. Denise, who was donning an Endeavor costume that looked too real not to be authentic. Tenya felt the realization settle in the pit of his stomach, a gasp leaving him without him meaning to.

"I liked that noise." Kit snickered, voice low. He was too stunned to blush or shoot him a look, the puzzle coming together lightning quick in his mind.

There was no way. He should've left school the moment he realized Kit truly wasn't going to come. Of course he'd do something as- as blasphemous as this! This was most certainly illegal. Where had he gotten the suit? He was without a doubt stolen. Growing up in a hero family meant he had an eye for these sorts of things, and that was most definitely one of Endeavor's suits. He had taken Denise-- this was identity theft-- and the forgery of signatures, and-- no matter how shitty Endeavor was, they couldn't---

"You didn't." His voice came out rather impolite, and he jolted as Rei Todoroki blinked at him with kind curiosity. He immediately flushed with embarrassment, squeezing Kit's hand in his slight panic. Kit squeezed back readily, pursing his lips for a moment.

"I fucking did." Kit grinned, unrestrained. He waved a hand towards the woman for emphasis. Faintly, the sound of the front door opening came from downstairs. Tenya barely even noticed it, still too taken aback. "Tenya Iida, meet the lovely Rei Todoroki! Or should I say Rei Suzuko, my dead father's distant cousin who has graciously come to assist us with our badass company."

Rei gave a bright wave, doing her best not to move too much as Inko applied more generous amounts of brown. Tenya stared some more, expression slack as he processed what he was hearing. Kit couldn't help but hop from foot to foot in his excitement. This was the absolute shit. Everything was going according to plan! Their fake Endeavor-- he owed Denise a toaster or two for his troubles, as well as a rubber mallet-- was a total success. And now Rei was here, and who the fuck was going to look into the Iida household for her directly after her disappearance? They'd swap her from location to location of course, but he doubted they were on the list of suspects at all. Kit would probably fall under questioning due to his presence at the hospital, but that was something he could handle.

"It's... nice to meet you." He sighed, defeated. Rei gave a small laugh.

Being out of the hospital was surreal. It had been so horribly long since she'd gotten a chance to step outside. The world felt so unfamiliar, yet not at the same time. It felt like she'd strolled out of a haze and into a vivid dream. A short, quirkless teenager had swept into her room with an odd, mostly non-verbal bird-like creature in one of her husband's hero suits and taken her away, citing her second son as a source before helping her pack her things in a whirlwind of efficient movement. What could she do but let herself be ushered out?

He'd explained everything calmly on their way out, leading her through alleys that cameras couldn't track them through. He didn't have any shoes on, but he had pulled an ugly neon orange hat over his head and put on some gaudy lime shades with sequins on the arms as a sort of disguise. His name was Kittrick Suzuko, and though he was young, he was the kingpin of Suzuko industries. A multi-million dollar company that originally focused solely on fashion, but had recently expanded its horizons under Kit's careful instruction. She had a issue in her lap she and Inko had been looking over and they were both blown away.

Things like this hadn't existed before she went into the hospital's care. Not popularly, that is. The things in here were things she never would've imagined would be so openly talked about. Topics so controversial she and Inko were both gasping a little and gossiping. It felt good to talk to a woman her own age who wasn't another patient or a nurse with an obligation. Kit was determined to take her husband down, and Rei... Rei was tired of sitting down. He'd gotten her out-- taken a massive risk just so she could reclaim her freedom. He wasn't expecting or pressuring her to help, but she was going to anyway. If not for herself and her children, then for all the other people Endeavor had done wrong.

"It's nice to meet you too. I really can't thank you enough. I can admit I was beginning to go a... bit stir crazy." Rei gave good-natured chuckle. The new schoolyear starting meant Natsuo and Fuyumi were rarely visiting, the former being a college student and the latter a preschool teacher. She wasn't upset, of course! In fact, Rei was impossibly proud! Her life was just so... monotonous without their stories of life outside the bare walls of her room to cling to, that's all. Kit had swept in with his... Denise creature and acted as her saving grace.

"Oh, I'll bet." Inko hummed, adding more dye. "Please let me know if you need a place to stay, Rei-san. I'd be happy to help you if you need an safe place that can't be easily traced back to you."

"I could never impose." Rei denied with a soft smile, her heart swelling. Inko laughed a little.

"Please, your company would be a delight. With Kit stealing my little Izuku so often I'm almost always alone! Aside from Denise, of course. He's such a dear, but not much of a talker. A wonderful security system, I'd say." Inko hummed. Kit looked at Tenya, who blinked in realization. That was... a great point, actually. It would be a grand idea to place Rei under Denise's super human abilities and willingness to take demands from Inko.

Tenya paused a bit when he realized how quickly he'd already resigned himself to this entire thing. He supposed it had been inevitable. Everything Kit did was... shockingly brilliant, even if he bent and broke laws most every time. He was wickedly smart. Such an interesting entity, bold, unafraid, willing to step forward when no one else would. All of it was just so admirable, and Tenya found himself sucked into the intricacies of his partner more and more as the days went by. What would his life be like had Kit not shook his hand in front of that flaming desk? Would he be going through the motions still, studying and training robotically, living without much meaning?

"Mitosis." Denise rumbled. Kit made a noise of question, and Tenya's nose scrunched. And then, Dabi appeared.

The guy came from seemingly nowhere, waltzing into view with a couple plastic bags in one hand and a drink carrier in the other. He lifted them up lazily, his entire posture lax. Tenya felt himself experience the beginnings of a heart attack, the sensation only made worse when he saw the gleeful expression on Kit's face. This was premeditated. When was anything not with him?

"Brought Popeye's, bitches." Dabi swung the bag lightly at Kit's head. The brunette ducked the blow, grinning so wide it looked like it hurt. "Biscuits are dryer than your boyfriend's personality, but I'm sure you already knew th-"

Teal eyes met a pair of wide, teary grey ones. Dabi's breath caught, his entire body going stock still in an instant. Tenya grabbed Kit by the shoulders when the boy started to shamelessly cackle, stepping back and pulling the shorter teen with him as Rei jolted up out of her seat. Inko took a small step back, dye-covered brush still raised. Denise didn't move, standing there in his Endeavor wear as Dabi carefully took apart the situation and connected the dots. You could physically see him pale, the unscarred parts of his face draining of all color. Was he breathing? Tenya didn't think he was breathing.

Izuku's head popped around the scarred man. He swiped the drink carrier from him, not seeming to care that the man was rooted in place and not showing signs of life. His green eyes scanned across the scene, his brows raising.

"Hey, mom. Didn't know you were here. Why's Denise still in cosplay?" Izuku asked. Kit burst out laughing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The entire ordeal ended around the time Tensei got home from work. They shouted for the pro hero to tackle Dabi before the scarred man could take off across the lawn, and Tensei had panicked and listened, sending them both crashing into a heap across the neatly trimmed grass. Rei had rushed out in a frenzy, dye-sodden hair wrapped up in one of the plastic Popeye's bags to keep it from bleeding on everything it touched. She reached Dabi and Tensei before the former could even think about running, wrapping him up in a tight hug and bursting into tears. Hook line and sinker. There was no way Dabi was going anywhere after this shit.
It was a good day. They got Rei out of there, had furthered the Chad case severely, and they'd forced Dabi into an obligation he couldn't get away from. Kit counted that all as a win. Everything he did was, technically. Purr.
Denise had gotten a little excited during all this and now there were hair dye stains on the bathroom and hallway ceilings that they were definitely going to have to paint over sometime in the next twenty-four hours if they wanted to keep their heads. He'd also broken the sink and caused a massive water leak, but that was an issue for the emergency plumber they'd called in, not them. He was banished temporarily from the house. Kit offered to take him, needing to get groceries anyway.
Tenya had been reluctant to let Kit out of his sight. Not only had he not seen him all day, the boy had also broken several laws and broke a woman out of a psych ward last time he was left unattended. Kit had assured him he'd be fine and that he and Denise were just going to go get some milk and eggs, maybe some cereal too. And a change of clothes. They didn't have anything big enough for him at Tenya's house, which meant Kit would need to fetch something from his own house or the Midoriya's. A quick kiss was all Kit needed to convince him. Tenya really was too far gone.
Kit took everything in stride, assuring them that he'd be back in no time flat. He had a few things to grab from his place anyway, and Auntie would get nervous if he didn't check in every so often and let her know he was alive. Understandable. Hilarious, too, because it had led to this situation. This absolutely glorious encounter. Nothing could've prepared him for this standoff. He should've done this shit sooner.
"What the fuck is that?" Katsuki breathed, eyes wide in total horror. Denise was still dressed like Endeavor, exposed brain almost touching the ceiling with how tall the creature was. Masaru stood off to the side, watching it all go down whilst sipping his hot chocolate idly. Mitsuki was in the kitchen putting the retrieved groceries away. Kit grinned wildly as Katsuki shrunk back, unconsciously trying to make himself smaller in his vague terror. As if Kit weren't scary enough, now he'd brought fucking Bird-face-fraken-deavor home.
"This is Denise. Denise, say hi to Kitty Kat, my cousin!" Kit clapped his hands together cheerfully. Denise leaned a bit closer. Katsuki leaned back, horrified. Denise's hot breath fanned across his face, and the creature cocked his head curiously at the blonde boy. Katsuki was trembling, eyes locked on the perceived threat. He pulled his phone out and snapped a picture of the expression. Another for his blackmail bank.
"Beans." Denise's voice came out gravelly and rough. His tongue stretched out, abnormally long, and licked up the side of his cousin's face. Katsuki immediately shrieked. Kit had never laughed harder.
