Chapter 15

Third person pov

Izuku Midoriya wasn't too sure what to think of Kit. It was entirely out of the blue to be seeing him again. Of course, he'd never forgotten the brunette. How could he ever, with the both of them being quirkless? Sometimes he'd daydream about what it could have been like if the tan boy had stuck around a bit more, rather than just visiting on a whim whenever his mother felt like seeing her sister. Kit had always been assertive. Powerful, and strong despite his lack of a quirk. He was someone who could even make the likes of Kacchan listen. Something that, even still, seemed completely impossible!

He'd tried to ask about him in the past, but Kacchan always told him to 'piss the fuck off' and such of that like. Izuku eventually stopped and resigned himself to never seeing him again. He knew Kit came over sparsely on some of the more major holidays, but those were days with his mother he wasn't willing to give up. Besides, disturbing the Bakugo's family time wasn't something he'd ever wanted to do. It didn't take long for him to convince himself Kit wouldn't want to be friends anyway. They were grown up, and surely their interests had diverged. Even if Kit had been nice and defended him from bullies whenever they found themselves playing together as kids, that didn't mean he was the same.

A part of him had immediately assumed Kit would be the same as his explosive cousin, actually. He felt a bit bad about that, but the guilt was short lived when he realized how similar the pair really were. Kit was just... nicer? No, that wasn't necessarily it. Maybe it was, but Kit seemed to have less anger and a far smaller ego than Katsuki did. It was refreshing, the contrast. So much so that Izuku couldn't help but cry just a little. Kit hadn't said a word when he did. Just patted his back and assured him that, yes, he was moving in down the street, and that they were friends.

Izuku's heart swelled. Did he truly have a real friend? It seemed surreal that just the day before he'd been contemplating giving up. The only reason he hadn't was his mother. Were he gone, she would be the only one to miss him anyway. But then Kit came swooping in, asking if he still wanted to be a hero, questioning his analysis, and showing interest in the things he was into. He seemed genuinely curious and like he wanted to know, and it made Izuku want to wail with joy. He wasn't mocking him or trying to push him down. It occurred to him that this was what a real friend was supposed to be like. Someone who raised you up instead of kicking you down.

"Ingenium. Nice choice." Kit observed his figures, seeming impressed and almost pleased. Normally Izuku would feel bashful. His room was a hero-nerd cavern that would usually make him blush with shame. Everyone loved heroes, but his obsession usually earned a few snide comments and weird looks. Now, with Kit, he could only feel pride. Kit didn't look down at what he enjoyed or seem to find it odd in the least. He just nodded along and took a few photos of some of the rarer ones. He'd always look at Izuku for permission before permission before picking up any, and when he did, he handled them with care. It made Izuku feel a bit more confident in his collecting passions.

"You're an Ingenium fan? I know he only made his debut a few years ago, but he's amazing!" Izuku hopped to attention, shrinking back momentarily at the sheer enthusiasm of his own statement. If Kit was annoyed, he didn't show it in the least. He just nodded and grinned rather than glaring or snapping at him to shut up like most people he came across did. It was alarmingly similar to Kacchan's smile. Were the explosive blonde a nicer person, Izuku was sure that's the sort of expression he would wear. It made the freckled boy a bit melancholy to think of his childhood friend. The one he was beginning to realize wasn't... really his friend anymore.

"Sure am. Wasn't until just this last year, though." Kit took out his phone and snapped a picture of the figurine to send to Tenya and Tensei both. Ingenium merch wasn't terribly rare, but there wasn't an abundance of it like there were for a lot of the other heroes a bit closer to the top ten. This was one of the exclusively made ones. Only a handful were made, and they were all sold at a con hosted for some of the heroes a bit lower in the rankings who deserved the spotlight.

"Really? What changed?" Izuku asked, holding back a spew of facts about the Iida-Family hero. A family of heroes... what was it like to come from one of those? Izuku had no idea. He'd never really run into anyone who was a part of one before. Kit looked at him with a sort of air around him that made Izuku feel as though his mind was about to be blown. He welcomed the feeling eagerly, wondering when the last time he felt this happy was. It was amazing what having a friend could do. Were he and Kit friends? He had said they were friends.

"Well," Kit's eyes sparked. Oh, this would be good, "I met the guy, for one thing."

There was a beat of silence where Kit's sort-of-new-but-also-old friend froze and didn't breath. Izuku's eyes grew comically wide. Kit snapped a picture of that as well. Tensei would be flattered, and watching him get flustered was always amusing. The guy deserved far more fans than he had. Though, he was actually beginning to crawl up the ratings. It wasn't speedy, but it certainly was steady enough to catch any hero fan's eye. His time interacting with those he saved and working with other heroes was well spent, apparently. It was beginning to pay off.

"Y-You... You met him?!" Izuku shrieked finally, backpedaling in shock and falling back onto his bed. Kit just stood there with a raised eyebrow and snarky grin on his face. Izuku gaped. Kit had met Ingenium?! That wasn't that weird. The man was quite neighborhood friendly and made it a point to be an actual part of the community, but still! A hero! Izuku had watched plenty of hero fights in person and on TV, but he always scrambled away to take notes and analyze what he'd gathered right after. Actually talking to a hero... that would be a lot different than simply seeing them up close!

"Even better. I'm dating his little brother, super hot by the way, and I crashed at their pad for a few weeks. He gives excellent relationship advice, actually." Kit snapped a picture of Izuku with a dropped jaw. "And since we're amigos again, partners in crime, demons ascended from hell-- whatever you want to call us, you'll be meeting them both as well! Isn't that fan-fucking-tastic?"

Izuku couldn't believe his ears. First of all, Kit was gay and very clearly not all that shy about it. Izuku had been hiding his bi-sexuality for years in fear of total rejection from his mother and quite literally everyone around him. Not that they accepted him to begin with, but that was besides the point. Apparently Kit also landed a boyfriend who was slated to enter UA, because where else would someone hailing from the great Iida family go? Not to mention that he knew Ingenium! And wanted... wanted Izuku Midoriya, him, himself, the nerdy little fanboy scrawnier than a twig, to meet him! This was insane. His mother wouldn't believe it.

"Y-You want m-me to meet them?! A-Are you sure?" Izuku sputtered, feeling a bit dizzy even as he sat there on the edge of his bed. His head was absolutely spinning, and his face was apple red. Him, meeting Ingenium. A-And befriending Kit's boyfriend, and Kit himself, that is! Even that part was hard to wrap his mind around. Kit had come back and was apparently here to stay, and wanted them to be 'partners in crime' as he'd put it.

Kit was actually mildly perplexed. When you were good friends with someone, you introduced them to the people important to you, right? Unless he was missing some shit. He'd learned this all from TV, so it was a definitely possibility. Still, Izuku was someone he could see himself forming a life-long friendship with. They'd got on like a house on fire when they were younger, and he didn't see why that shit had to chance now. Plus, Izuku liked heroes. Of course he'd introduce him to Tensei. Not to mention both he and Tenya wanted to go to UA. If they were going to be going to the same school, it made sense for them to know each other.

"Yeah, of course. You're cool as shit and smart as hell. Plus, you want to be a hero like Tenya. Tenya would be proud to know I have friends that aren't shitbags." Kit puffed up and seemed to preen at the thought of Tenya being proud. That had to be Ingenium's little brother's name. "Besides, you still want to go to UA, right?"

"O-Of course!" Izuku squeaked, his eyes wide. Kit grinned devilishly, looking him up and down. Izuku felt the color drain from his face as an unexplainable feeling of dread washed over him. He felt like he was walking right into the open jaws of a beast.

"Well, you look like a fucking twig. So we've got some damn work to do." Kit rolled his shoulders. Izuku's breath hitched, and he blinked. "I mean, if you're going to get into UA, we're going to need to pack some muscle onto your skinny ass! At this rate, I'd have a better chance getting in."

Kit was glad to have reconnected with Izuku. Tenya seemed relieved to hear the freckled boy wasn't a delinquent, and instead a super genius nerd who was also quirkless. He fully approved so far from the few texts Kit had managed to send, and Kit needed more friends anyway. Izuku didn't seem to have much of anybody either if Katsuki's behavior was anything to go off of, so it was a win-win. Having someone else who was quirkless around felt like a relief in a way, not to mention Izuku needed their damn help anyway.

"You... Y-You want to... help me?" Izuku looked absolutely floored by the mere notion. It actually pissed Kit of a bit. He wasn't mad at Izuku, of course, but the people who'd beaten him down were total shitrags and you couldn't convince the brunette otherwise. He'd throw hands with anyone who thought it was okay to put down another person's aspirations, even if that someone was his own cousin. Mitsuki was understand. "You think I can do it?"

"Of course I don't think you can do this shit. I know you can." Kit assured, stretching his arms over his head nonchalantly. Izuku felt more tears well in his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I know you're emotional and all that jazz. You always were a crier."

Maybe it wasn't an appropriate way to respond, but Izuku couldn't stop the laugh that bubbled from his chest.

"So I'll be meeting him when?" Tenya asked as Kit climbed through his window. They'd been talking on the phone as Kit walked over. The brunette had mentioned the mugging in passing, and the taller of the pair had been on edge ever since. Now he insisted on staying on the line while Kit traveled between their homes. Kit really didn't mind it. If it made Tenya feel better, it was definitely worth it. Plus, who was he to turn down some quality conversation?

"No need to be so anxious. He's got worse anxiety than you, and then some. Nice guy, though. Definitely has the potential to be a little shit head like me." Kit grinned as he dropped into Tenya's bedroom. The movement was well-practiced enough that his feet didn't make all that much sound as they hit the flooring. Tenya stepped up immediately, and Kit let him do his worried hovering. He always did feel the need to check his shorter boyfriend for injuries.

"I'm not anxious." Tenya scoffed, wrapping his arms around Kit from behind after circling him and resting his head atop the shorter boy's. The action was simple, but something Tenya was comfortable with. He was quickly growing more and more accustomed to affectionate touching. Kit noticed quite a bit that Tenya often times liked to engulf him, using his large frame to wrap Kit up as best he could. The tan boy was into it, he couldn't lie. "I just want to get to him before you can corrupt him! To balance it out."

"Wow, thanks for putting your faith in me. I feel the love." Kit snorted, turning around in Tenya's arms to gaze up at him. It had been a few days now since he met with Izuku, and they'd agreed to meet up after the pair of childhood friends had a bit more time to catch up. So when Kit wasn't with Tenya, he was at Izuku's with Luis. Inko was overjoyed to have Kit over, gushing about how glad she was Izuku had finally made a friend to bring over, and babying the old chihuahua so much so that Kit didn't even have to keep an eye on him while he was over. Not that the old mutt did much other than sleep anyway.

"I do love you, I just know you as well." Tenya said said in a matter-of-fact tone. When Kit tensed, it occurred to him what words had just fallen from his mouth. It was obvious that Tenya was in love with Kittrick Suzuko. The article he'd been reading prior to their getting together had held the word in its actual title. However, neither had ever verbally dropped it in such a manner. It was joked about wittily on Kit's end, but had never been spoken with any sort of seriousness. Yes, Tenya's tone had been casual, but there was a difference. Intent. He'd meant it when he said it.

Before panic could fully seize him, Kit stood on his toes-- where the hell were his shoes?-- and placed his lips against Tenya's. It was brief, but warm and enough to make him blush cherry red.

"I'm slightly offended, but I love you too." Kit winked up at him, and he turned even redder. "So, when the fuck you gonna let me give you a blow jo-"

"KIT!"
