Chapter 6: Aftermath

'Goddammit, these girls! I only have lethal armament on my ship, I can't possibly kill one of theirs, not right now! Ergh…' The Airborne Fortress cursed internally, exasperated with the sticky situation he's facing.

'I don't want to blow up an entire fucking base just because of a misunderstanding! I need a weapon for now…' He seethed, trying to find a way to defend himself.

If they weren't allies, he would've blown them to smithereens already, much like those pesky Aurelian fleet back at hangar.

However, they are technically his allies. This is not the Leasathian Civil War, where fellow countrymen turned onto one another.

No, this has to be resolved peacefully.

However, the ashen-haired girl charged towards him, her bow in hand, aiming onto his head.

Seeing this, he reflexively jumped back, evading her arrow by the nick of time, the arrow itself merely grazing his cheek.

'Ugh, damn, I have to summon my riggings... But I still need a weapon...' He inwardly said, realizing the gravity of the situation.

Then, he remembered what Wales said;
"Just feel it, and you'll see it."

In an instant, thousands of blue cubes formed on his back.

Slowly, the cubes formed a shape of two gigantic wings made out of sharp metallic feathers, their colors being jet black.

On his torso, a fiendish black tailpiece of the Gleipnir and fuselage formed, recognizable SWBM silos right on the back.

Not forgetting to arm himself, an M82 Sniper Rifle materialized on top of his hands, falling onto his palms with a gentle thud.

On his waist, a P250 Standard Issue pistol materialized, already holstered securely to his body.

Feeling the sensation once more, Gleipnir unfurled his wings with a scream of rage, mixed with content, giving off an aura of terrible majesty, as if he was a demon.

Before long, he aimed the rifle towards the girl, who dashed once more to him.

However….

A familiar sword blocked the two from quarreling with each other further.

"Halt! That's enough, Enterprise." It was Prince of Wales, interfering with their fight.

"What are you doing?! Can't you see it's a siren?! Who is he?!" Enterprise hissed, enquiring Wales about the mysterious person.

"He is our guest." A simple answer was mouthed out by the blonde.

"Then what's the deal with the explosion we all heard just now?!" The carrier interrogated, still remembering the fireworks that happened a minute ago.

Clearing his throat, Gleipnir talked up, "Ahem, that was… a test conducted by them to gauge my abilities. I apologize for causing such a ruckus."

"What's the deal with using such a blast?! It was merely a test, just like what you said!" Still suspicious of the full-combat mode Gleipnir, Enterprise interrogated once more to find out the truth.

"Ah… it was one of my main armaments. The test won't be complete until I've used it." He spoke only the truth.

Thinking that his full riggings and the airship in combat mode added to the situation, Gleipnir recalled his raven wings, the pair dissolving into thin air after becoming bright blue cubes.

The SWBM ports disengaged, closing themselves with a thud, whirrings of the Shock Cannon on its belly dissipated, no longer glowing ghostly blue.

'This might make her more convinced of my innocence, I hope…' The man mentally mumbled, hoping to deescalate the situation.

Looking at this, Enterprise finally calmed down. If he was truly an enemy, he won't do the things that happened just now.

Disarming yourself in front of an enemy means a death sentence, but he did it, creating a possibility of him being an ally.

'But let's not get too ahead of ourselves for now.' Distrust still lingered on Enterprise's mind, but she considered the chance of him posing minimal threat to them.

"Besides," Gleipnir talked up, breaking her off from her thoughts, "if I was really an enemy, the explosion would just hit the base without any warning, yes?"

The logical statement made Enterprise think about it for a little bit before making her decision.

"Hmph, that is true… alright. Everyone, stand down, it's a false alarm." She backed off, deeming Gleipnir not a threat, the girls behind her doing the exact same.

He sighed in relief, "Phew… I thought there would be further… complications if this wasn't resolved peacefully…" He remembered the Aurelian War, where everything was settled with one side being decimated.

Barbaric way of settling things, but if it works, it works.

"I apologize for the difficulties, Gleipnir. I'll take my leave now." She bid her goodbyes. "However, please don't do whatever that was near here again, please." The grey-haired girl added.

Scratching the back of his head, he agreed.

"No more, I promise."

"Good." She turned her back, and subsequently left the area.

The Airborne Fortress turned his attention to the crowd of shipgirls looking at him, and gave them an awkward stare before finally distracting himself with Illustrious.

"Well… thank goodness it's done…" The man sighed in relief, the fiasco of him getting called a siren done.

….

Wait.

'What is a siren, exactly?' He thought to himself, but seeing the situation as for now, he refrained from asking.

"Well… let us recap your results, shall we?” Illustrious called out to him, giving him a piece of paper.

The results written in the papers were:

Aviation: S
Speed: A
Torpedo: F
EVA: F
Armor: B
Anti-Air: EX
Firepower: EX

The results made Illustrious mumble in amazement. “Two categories surpassing S… I admit, you are one powerful fellow, Gleipnir." Illustrious paused, before a pair of little girls approached Unicorn, staring warily at Gleipnir.

With an awkward look, he exchanged glances at the girls, unsure of what to do.

"You! You didn't hurt Unicorn, right?" The one with purple bob-cut short hair asked, her tone suspicious.

"Rest assured, I did nothing." He stated, claiming his innocence.

Gleipnir then noticed that the girl standing sleepily behind the purple-haired girl was familiar.

If he recalled correctly, she was Laffey, the girl that he met at the infirmary a few days back.

"Ah, good to see you again, Laffey." He greeted, Laffey herself looking lethargic as always.

"Hello…" She answered monotonely, looking drowsy and bored to death.

'Yeah, no, don't talk to her for now.' Gleipnir made a mental note to not engage in so-called "boring" activities with Laffey.

"Laffey, you know him?!" The girl in front of her was taken aback from the revelation.

"Mhm.." The one in question however, just mumbled in disinterest.

Turning her attention back to the mysterious male, wielding her spear warily, she interrogated him, "You, who are you?"

"I am Gleipnir. Gleipnir-class Airborne Fortress. You?" He simply replied with zero malice in his tone.

"I'm a J-class Destroyer, Javelin. Pleasant to meet you, Gleipnir." Javelin replied, letting her guard a bit down.

Looking at everyone who was still tense, Gleipnir couldn't help but sigh. "I won't harm anyone, I promise."

"Mhm… are you Unicorn's friend?" Yet another question.

"Not exactly… but I do know her, though." He answered honestly.

"I see. Unicorn, are you okay?" Javelin looked past him, and with concern over her face, asked her friend behind him if she was fine.

"Yes, I'm okay, Javelin." The shy girl replied, smiling to assure her friend.

"Phew… I thought you were hurt…" Sighing in relief, Javelin turned her attention back to the onyx-haired male, and asked a question, "Are you new here?"

"Yes, I'm new." Once more, he sighed. "Sorry for the earlier commotion, it was a test, not an offense conducted by your enemies." Motioning his hand, he apologized.

"It's okay, by the way, do you want a tour around the base? Consider it as our own apology for trying to attack you earlier…" She offered.

An introduction to the base would be nice, more information wouldn't hurt, and it'll keep him from looking like a lost dog every time he tries to find something or someone.

"Hm, alright." He nodded his head, agreeing the proposal.

"Okay!" Javelin lit up, a curious gleam apparent on her eyes.

Moving to her back, Javelin took Laffey's collar and started to drag her somewhere without telling the Airborne Fortress.

"Hey, where are you going?" Taken aback by the sight of Javelin dragging Laffey's sleepy form, he tried to stop the two.

"Umm, I think they're going to the playground." Unicorn talked up, informing him of a possible place the two girls would go.

"Hey, you two! Let's go, follow us to the playground!" Full of energy, Javelin kept dragging her friend by the collar, Unicorn catching up to the two.

Utter disbelief was seen on Gleipnir's face, however, he kept his poker face.

"Err, should I go?" Hesitant, he asked the woman in white right behind him, who could be seen busy fumbling with something.

"Mhm, follow them. I will be there shortly." Illustrious gave him the green light, and he went on to tail the three girls heading somewhere he doesn't know for sure.
