Chapter 5: Fire Trials
Second after seconds, turns into minutes.
Minutes, turn into hours.
Hours, turn into days.
It has been two days after the Airborne Fortress rested, aftermath of his sinking, or rather, shooting down.
He moves his eyes upon his surroundings, familiar surroundings.
A memory flashed into him.
Azur Lane Infirmary.
That was where he is at, now.
With effort, he tried to stretch his body.
A sensation rushed over him. Relief, along with some questionable cracks of unknown origin coming out from his body.
Who cares? It feels good, after all.
Again, he tried to rise from the comforts of the mattress, but a familiar voice stopped him.
"Wait! Stop! Don't try it just yet!" Someone's voice, laced with worry, tells him.
In response, he scanned his surroundings again, and lo and behold, a girl with a nurse uniform.
'Wait...' He thought to himself as memories once again recalled itself into his brain.
"Vestal...?"
"Yes, it's me, now stop! You've just rested for a moment, and your wounds shouldn't have healed that fast!" Vestal answers, and tries to prevent him from overexerting himself.
Hearing that, Gleipnir checked his new body.
Though it was riddled with bandages, he didn't feel any pain.
'Hm, weird... But alright.' The strange revelation surprised him, but he kept calm.
Ignoring her orders, he kept on rising on the bed, and laid his feet on the cold hard floor.
"Vestal. How long have I been asleep?" He didn't give attention to the visibly frustrated medic, and questioned her.
"Two days, it's been two days, now lay down!" An answer, and an order.
Instead of a word coming out from his mouth, a low grumble came from him.
......
Silence.
The two stared awkwardly at each other, before Vestal broke the silence.
"Are you hungry, Gleipnir?" The girl questioned, stating the obvious fact.
"Yes..." He replied.
Two- no, four days he went without sustenance.
He starts to regret the decision of not having at least a spoon of food while he was back with Wales.
But no matter, all is safe, as long as Vestal allows him to eat.
"Vestal, may I leave? I'm not going anywhere far, just the cafeteria." Gleipnir pleaded with the repair ship.
'Is he overexerting himself?' Vestal thought to herself, upon scrutinizing the new Airborne Fortress' condition.
He doesn't seem to be in pain, nor is he in distress.
Her final judgement; a nod.
He was allowed to leave.
"Thank you, Vestal. I'll be back quickly." Relieved with her response, he acknowledged it, and rose from the bed.
He set his sights upon a black coat hung on the stand next to his bed, and glanced at himself.
Still bandaged, but no more pain.
Better keep the bandages on, just in case.
After that, the humanised Airborne Fortress took the coat, and wore it.
It fits perfectly with him, as if it was his.
Wait...
"Is this coat... mine?" Gleipnir breathed a question to the busy-looking nurse.
"Yes, it is yours. Don't worry about it." Too busy to even spare a glance, Vestal gave the reply to his question.
Well, good.
Now... he must find something to eat.
Gleipnir took a step, his first step.
The sensation was... familiar, but not too familiar either.
Another step, and he suddenly staggered, luckily, he managed to avoid falling to the ground by holding onto a railing on the medical bed.
His feet were unable to instantly walk, for he never learned to walk either, add to that the injuries he sustained recently.
All of this is a new sensation for the great Airborne Fortress, and inside, he felt more and more motivated to overcome the difficulty.
With so, he took another step, mustering every last bit of his strength that he possessed.
Finally, he managed to balance himself, and started walking at a slow pace, getting accustomed to a simple human motion.
Walking.
Not too far from there, the former superweapon found an object, reflecting the entirety of the surroundings opposed to it.
It was a mirror.
Taking the bother to see what he looks like as a human, he approached the mirror.
As he looked into the mirror, he finally saw himself.
His human form.
First, he gazed into his own eyes.
The pair of eyes stared back, their opaque amethyst hue glancing at the humanised weapon.
He spared a glance to his torso, and found that he was wearing a black suit, the colors akin to that of the Airborne Fortress' ominous black hue. A black undershirt and a tie was also present, making him look somewhat like a butler.
He saw the raven-black hair nestled upon his head, and realized that it was the coarse patch of something he had felt earlier while stranded on the island.
A bit taken aback, he ran his fingers through his hair, still a little surprised he was a human.
He gazed into his two hands. A pair of black gloves nestled themselves there, protecting his skin from the elements.
As if the great Airborne Fortress needed it, but oh well, it won't hurt, so he kept them on.
Then, the raven-haired male's studious gaze landed upon his left chest. A rose-shaped ornament adorned his left chest area. It's linked with two chains into another ornamental piece, a rhombus-shaped one with a blue gem embedded inside, much like the rose one.
Another glance at his face, and the only thing not black is his skin, pale white skin, as if it was subjected to the harsh cold.
(Art not mine-)
In truth, it really did.
Terminus Island.
But that's another long-passed memory.
Satisfied with what he saw, Gleipnir trudged towards the exit, and opened it to see the outside world.
Curiously, he scanned his new surroundings.
Familiar.
The hallways near the infirmary, a familiar sight.
But then a low grumble coming from him made him realize he was running low on fuel, or rather, he was hungry.
Another realization hit him.
He forgot where the cafeteria is located.
And so, he wanders aimlessly, waiting until a familiar face could be recognized.
But then...
Just his luck.
He ran into Prince of Wales, who coincidentally was also heading to the cafeteria for breakfast, after a long night of tending to matters in the Azur Lane Base.
Life was busy, and full of threats, but well, it finds a way.
He approaches the blonde battleship, and tries to initiate a conversation.
"Wales?"
"Yes?" She responded with a brow raised, questioning his intentions.
"May I ask a favor from you?" Politely, he inquired her.
"Yes, what is it?" She was busy, but first impressions and favors matter.
"Could you show me the way to the cafeteria? I'm...a bit lost, and... hungry..." Finally, he goes to the point, and tells her why he was here.
She ponders about it a little bit, before something hit her.
"Wait, shouldn't you still be recovering, Gleipnir? It's just two days, no way you've healed all of your injuries!" Wales unconvincedly said to him.
"Well, Vestal gave me permission to eat at the cafeteria. It's okay, I can manage. Besides, I'm hungry..." He explains the situation.
"Oh. I see. But then why didn't you- .... Oh well, it's okay. Follow me, I happen to be heading there too." She remembers his refusal two days before, but lets it go.
'She must've remembered it too... Sorry, it was on impulse...' Gleipnir realized what she was talking about in the first part, and then guiltily thought to himself.
"Yes. Let's go." With that, the two walk towards a certain place, the cafeteria.
Along the way, there were surprisingly no one on the hallway, so the two were uninterrupted.
And for Gleipnir, it's a good thing, since he's bad with crowds.
The last time he was with a crowd, he vaporized them into thin air, leaving not even a trace of hair left.
A bit of time passed, and they finally reached the cafeteria, where a girl with blonde hair and brownish tan skin greeted the two, or rather, Wales.
"Yo, Wales!" The girl shouted to her.
"Hm? Oh, Nevada? Yes." She nods in acknowledgement of the cafeteria lady.
"What do you wan- oh wait, who are you? And... You're a male?!" Nevada points towards the Airborne Fortress, bewildered from the sight of a male in the base.
"Uh, I'm Gleipnir. I'm... new, the base sent me here to... do things, yes, do things." He lied as naturally as he breathed.
"I see. I'm Nevada, Nevada-class Battleship. Nice to meet'cha, Gleipnir!" Nevada introduced herself to Gleipnir, and he responds with a nod.
"So, whatcha want to eat?" She continues to offer them food.
Gleipnir, literally never having tasted anything before, merely gazed at the food trays curiously, taking in all the aroma of the food for his central command unit- no, brain, to process.
His brain processed the smell, and holy hell, it smells good.
But that's up for the tongue to decide.
However...
He didn't know what to choose, but fortunately, Wales saved the day.
"The usual, please." She ordered her breakfast.
Him, unsure of what to pick, tells her he'll be having the same as her.
"I'll have what she's having, thank you." Hesitatingly, he follows her order.
"Alright! Coming up in a bit!" Nevada accepts the two's requests.
Moments later, their food is ready, and they quickly try to find a vacant seat, not forgetting to thank Nevada beforehand.
While holding the tray of food in his hands, Gleipnir scanned the surroundings of the cafeteria with his eyes in search of a seat, and found one.
"Wales, here." He notifies her first.
"Ah, yes." She nodded in acknowledgement.
Then, he puts down his tray on the table, and sets a chair for Wales first.
Manners.
He only knew little of it from watching the higher-ups back in Aurelia, to be fair, not watched, recorded.
"Oh, you're too kind." She thanks him.
"No problem." He shrugs it off and proceeds to take a seat for himself.
They start eating their meal, but Wales has questions to go along with the meal, and decides to ask him.
"Gleipnir, I still have questions. Are you okay answering it right now?" She politely asks for confirmation from the Airborne Fortress.
"It's okay, you can ask." He accepts her request.
"First, I recall you saying about your capability of laying down extreme firepower from long range. The question is, how? I don't see any guns on the fuselage of the Airborne Fortress." Wales asked about the firepower of the Gleipnir.
"Hmm, about that... Well, I actually don't use guns to attack, I only have Anti-aircraft guns for defensive purposes. For the firepower part..." He hesitates to reveal his trump cards.
That's for a good reason.
The power to annihilate absolutely EVERYTHING in your path is something that's not to be taken lightly.
And if he carelessly gave out information about his arsenal, it could be a double-edged sword.
One, the enemies would be demoralized from attacking.
But then, they'll be bound to find a way to counter it.
It's merely one of the many rules of warfare.
But well, for now, he's not even in his world, is he?
Perhaps revealing some wouldn't hurt. It's to gain trust, after all.
"Well... I practically could wipe out an entire fleet in just a few seconds." He gives a hint to the first trump card.
"What?!-" Hearing that, Wales almost choked on her food.
Keyword, almost.
"Calm down, Wales, I'm not going to use it on you." He assures the panicked knight.
"Of course... If you do, I'm going to be forced to fight you." She calmed down, and took a deep breath afterwards.
"What do you mean by eradicating an entire fleet?" Wales asked again.
With that, his mind flew towards another memory.
Terminus Island, Aurelia.
Temporary Forward Base, AKA, The Gleipnir's Hangar.
He remembered defending the small, frigid, and barren island.
3rd Aurelian Reconnaissance Fleet.
All vaporized in a single blow, nothing was left.
That was the power of the Shock Cannon.
But that's actually the first time he had revealed it to them with survivors, letting eyewitnesses cower in fear even more upon the threat that is the Shock Cannon.
His most used arsenal though, is the SWBM.
More practical, longer range, and a very good show of power.
He was the hope of a people, the hope for retribution.
The Aurelians, they were smart to deceive them first by sending help, but...
Commander Navarro saw through their lies.
They shall all pay the price for daring to cross Leasath.
But that is for when he gets back to his world.
"I use something called missiles. More accurately, Shock Wave Ballistic Missiles, abbreviated as SWBMs. Though, I have to use it sparingly for close range, or I'll risk damaging myself. It's because the collateral damage from it would be very high. One shot from it could annihilate an entire fleet to kingdom come." Gleipnir informed her about one of his main armaments.
"My... Such power... I hope you don't end up on the wrong side..." She replied, baffled by his claims.
"How does it work, Gleipnir? May I know the details?" She asked again, wanting to know the secrets.
Should he reveal it? Oh well, it wouldn't hurt to educate anyway, it's not like he's giving out national secrets.
"It's... Hmm, every missile uses a disposable Cyclotron Accelerator inside it, and a bit of a special fuel called Meson Fuel. When it's launched, the accelerator arms itself, and then starts to accelerate muons inside it. The resulting product, heat." He starts to explain how the SWBM works.
"With that, as the missile hits its' target, or detonate at a preset coordinate, the Meson Fuel is discharged, and the heat from the muon particles ignite it, resulting in a big explosion."
"I apologize, but I don't get anything that you're saying." Wales deadpanned from the ridiculous logic.
"Well... I'm sorry, but it's hard coming up with layman terms... Perhaps a demonstration is better to explain." He apologizes for the clusterfuck of words he made, and offers to demonstrate the power of the SWBM for her.
"I see. Perhaps you would want to join us in gauging your abilities? You do remember me saying that earlier two days ago, I assume?" She proceeds to invite him, seeing he had recovered from his wounds.
'Vestal's not going to like this...' He thought to himself, remembering the stern order by the worried nurse.
'Fuck it, it's not like she's going to kill me or anything, right? I have the backing of a test going for me, I could use that.' He disregards her order, and then nods in acceptance to the knight in front of him.
"Wonderful! Alright, follow me, I'll take you to the test area." The two had finished having their meal by now, and Wales stood up, followed by Gleipnir.
"Yes, lead the way." He proceeds to tail her, curiously looking around the new surroundings.
A little bit of walking, they've reached the test area.
It was outside the base, near the seaside.
Gleipnir then spots four new faces, and two familiar ones as he glanced towards his front.
A little girl with a crown on her head, with Warspite standing right next to her, a white-haired woman sipping her tea elegantly as she sat down on a gazebo along with Hood, a purple-haired little girl holding a... plushie (?) sitting next to her, and yet another white-haired woman, wearing a maid outfit this time, tending to all of their needs.
"My loyal servants! Today we are gathered here to gauge a new ship's abilities!" The girl wearing a crown said, her tone condescending.
"Uhmmm... pardon me, but who are you?" He questioned the girl, unsure if she's sane or not.
"I am HMS Queen Elizabeth! You're lucky I'm not going to throw you into the gallows for this insult!" She answers, offended by the Airborne Fortress' lack of knowledge.
'.....Calm down, she's just a little girl, let's not be brash, Gleipnir.' He calms himself, after being bewildered by the "Queen's" behavior.
"Your Majesty, I apologize for his behavior. Ah, pardon me. I am HMS Illustrious, lead ship of the Illustrious-class Aircraft Carriers." The white-haired woman apologized to the Queen for Gleipnir's actions, and proceeded to introduce herself.
"Greetings, I am HMS Belfast, Head Maid of the Royal Navy's Maid Corps." The maid follows suit, introducing herself with a courteous bow.
"I see. I am Gleipnir, Gleipnir-class Airborne Fortress. Pleased to meet all of you." He introduced himself politely to them.
Curiously, he looked at the purple-haired girl, who is currently still hiding behind Illustrious' legs as he made his presence known.
"Ah, pardon. She's a little bit shy at times. Come out, Unicorn, don't be afraid."
"H-hello..." The one in question greets him, albeit still scared of the strange man.
"Hello, Unicorn, don't be afraid, I won't hurt you, don't worry." Reading the mood, he reassures the little girl he's just another normal Kansen, although with some differences, that is.
"Well, I'm Gleipnir, you?" He asked again, in a gentle tone this time as to not scare her.
"I-i'm Unicorn, and this is U-chan!" She introduced herself, along with her doll.
'Hmm? A doll?' He thought to himself upon the sight of the girl and her "plushie"
Suddenly, the horse plushie moved one of its front legs, as if signifying a hello.
He was taken aback, not expecting such an inconspicuous toy to be "alive".
Or perhaps it's just animate? Oh well...
After the whole fiasco was done, the maid stepped up before him.
"I am HMS Belfast, Head of the Royal Maid Corps." She bows, "Pleased to be your acquaintance, Sir...."
"Gleipnir. And please drop the honorifics, I'm not used to it, thank you in advance." He gave her a nod of acknowledgement, and then turned his attention away from her towards the others.
"Alright, with the introductions out of the way, we shall commence testing on the new Kansen's abilities!" Queen Elizabeth decrees after she had seen everyone had already introduced themselves.
"Yes, Your Majesty." Everyone there except for the Airborne Fortress answered.
'And this is the Queen they were talking about? Hmph, my assumptions were wrong.' He kept silent, judging the little Queen's behavior.
'Oh well, perhaps it's just her age, I'll give her another chance.' He relents, giving the tactless Queen another chance to prove herself in front of his eyes.
"Illustrious, if I may ask, what's the first test?"
"We will be testing your Anti-aircraft capabilities for this first test. I will personally face you for this one, I wish you the best of luck." She answered.
Hearing that, his thoughts flew back into the war.
The battles, the fights, the smell of blood, the burning oil, everything, it rushed into him.
His purpose, why he was made in the first place.
He was eager to have a taste of battle, after the crushing defeat and utter humiliation over Santa Elva.
But he mustn't go overboard, seeing as this is merely a test, and the ones conducting it are basically his saviors.
"Never bite the hand that feeds you." As an old saying goes.
"Excuse me, Illustrious, Your Majesty, but I don't think it's suitable to commence the test here. My armaments are too high-risk to use in this kind of environment. I just don't want any collateral damage, sorry." Gleipnir states his problems with the test.
"How strong are you, really?" The little queen sneers condescendingly, not taking him seriously.
"I shall give you a display fitting of the flagship of a nation, Your Majesty." He fires back, still keeping a polite tone, while being majorly annoyed inside.
"Hmph! We'll see about that later!" She pouts, still doubting his capabilities.
"I won't disappoint you, Your Majesty." He says to her, irritated a good bit with her antics.
"Let us begin, I shall summon my ship beforehand. Come forth, Gleipnir!" With that, thousands of bright blue cubes start to form in the nearby shore, turning into a silhouette of an airship, dark as night in color, before seemingly disappearing into nothingness.
"Hmm? Where is it?" Queen Elizabeth asks, bewildered with the fact that there was nothing there.
Hearing that, he gave a sneer and proceeds to turn off the Optical Camouflage.
The digital distortions start to dissipate, revealing a massive aircraft, raven-black in color.
The imposing size of its wings, the ethereal yellow hue of the cockpit lights.
It once struck fear into the hearts of its enemies, and now, even its allies are taken aback.
"W-what is that?!" Queen Elizabeth horrifiedly muttered out, scared by the sheer size of the Airborne Fortress.
Warspite gulped. It wasn't the first time she had seen this monstrosity, but seeing it in its full form, undamaged, is kind of unnerving to her.
"T-that's your ship?" Queen Elizabeth once again asked, still scared by the Gleipnir's form.
"Yes, Your Majesty." He confirmed.
'Heh, gotcha, you little shi- Nono, let's not.' He was satisfied seeing their shocked reactions.
"Gleipnir, I'm sorry, but I don't see too many guns on your ship. How are you even going to fight us?" Wales said after regaining her composure, noticing the lack of conventional armaments.
"I told you earlier, I use something called a missile. And that is also why I don't want to conduct the test too close to the base. The risk of collateral damage is simply too high." He explains, wanting the test to be done in a place a bit further away from the base.
"Very well, we could go a little bit further towards the open seas." The Queen decrees, believing him after being intimidated by the imposing aircraft's sheer size.
'Hmm, the Airship is all repaired up, in just two days? Damn, these Manjuus did one hell of a job, I'll have to thank them later!' Gleipnir thought to himself, after seeing the newly-repaired state of the Airborne Fortress.
"Gleipnir, as I told you earlier, we will be testing your Anti-aircraft capabilities first. Let us go a little further." Illustrious said as she summoned her ship, an Aircraft Carrier, and sailed towards the ocean.
"Understood." He nodded in agreement, and then boarded the airship. "Requesting clearance for takeoff."
"Perform system checks, you are cleared for takeoff." The white-haired woman told him.
"Affirmative."
The engines of the Gleipnir fires up, screaming with an ethereal howl, striking fear into the hearts of the nearby bystanders.
"What's that sound?!" Hood terrifiedly says upon hearing the terrible howls of the jet engines.
"I don't know, but it's coming from the airship!" Wales exclaims, finding the source of the horrible noise.
Unicorn stood there, fearful of the engines' noise.
"I-i'm scared..." She mutters out.
"Worry not, he won't hurt us." Wales tries to console the little girl.
"Mhm..." She calms down a little, albeit still a little bit frightened.
The massive airship starts to take off from the azure blue sea, soaring into the skies, once the throne of its reign of terror.
"We shall begin. I am going to send out planes for you to destroy. Each plane that manages to land a hit on you will count as a score deduction. Good luck." Illustrious told him as she sends out a swarm of Supermarine Seafire fighters to intercept the Gleipnir.
"Heh, and this is why I told you to commence the test further." A maniacal grin plastered his expressions,
"I don't need to hold back."
A port on the back of the Airborne Fortress opens, revealing a missile.
'This is the first time I'm going to launch the SWBM after becoming.... human... heh.' He thought to himself briefly, before ordering to launch the missile.
Smoke starts to cloud the surroundings of the port as the missile launches, the coordinates set right near the belligerent propeller aircrafts.
"Airborne Fortress missile launched! Estimated time to impact, ten seconds!" Gleipnir announced the SWBM's launch.
"What? What does it mean?" Illustrious is bewildered by the male's sudden exclaims.
"We are to witness his power..." Wales gulped, remembering what he said earlier in the day.
"Nine!" The clock starts ticking.
"Eight!"
"Seven!"
"Six!"
"Five!" A little bit more...
"Four!"
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One, IMPACT!"
The cyclotron accelerator inside the missile reacts with the muon particles and meson fuel, creating a massive energy explosion that engulfed the Seafires inside an all-consuming blue light.
When the light dissipated, all that was left were burning wreckage falling from grace, and a strong afterwind from the explosion.
The tempest blew upon the participants of the Gleipnir's test, their faces all plastered with shock all over.
"W-what was that?" Witnessing the SWBM explosion made Wales' blood run cold.
This firepower... it was even greater than Bismarck's.
She took a glance to Hood, her friend, and found her shivering in fear from the massive explosion work.
"Hood, are you okay?" Wales asks her friend, trying to console her and regain their composure.
However, a cry could be heard.
It was from Unicorn, terrified from the loud noise from the missile.
Queen Elizabeth and Warspite could only look at the raven-haired man in a mix of fear, admiration, and suspicion.
He came out of nowhere, all wounded up, and Warspite rescued him.
Their assumptions were utterly wrong, and he truly proved himself as a flagship.
Leasath.
That's what came to their mind.
Leasath was the nation Gleipnir served, and they couldn't help but to think, how powerful must they be?
But alas, that's for later, for now, the test is still ongoing.
They have to keep their composure before this man, the mysterious person found by chance.
He might be a siren, or he might be not.
But if he isn't, he would be a very good ally in their fight against the sirens.
The Azur Lane needs all the help it could get, for they're in an all-time low of manpower and resources.
----------
'How'd you like that, Your Majesty? Hah!' Gleipnir thought to himself, satisfied from looking at the Queen's confused, yet shocked expression.
He then sees everyone in the test area, all looking at him as if he had committed bloody murder.
And finally, he noticed the little girl he was trying to calm down, crying.
"Ah... Goddammit, did I go too far?" Uncertain, he questioned himself.
This was meant to just be another test, not a fun fright horror house, yet he somehow managed to turn it into the latter.
With a sigh, he descended from the Airborne Fortress without authorization, trying to calm down the situation, and the tugging feeling inside his heart telling him to apologize to the little girl.
"Unicorn, are you okay?" Gleipnir enquired softly, trying to not frighten her more.
She flinched back in response, fear evident in her eyes.
And that...
That brought back memories.
People-humans, they all looked at him with this sort of look, if not, other things, such as hate, contempt, and disgust.
Will he be forever cursed with this look?
Perhaps... Such is the fate of every weapon.
Bound to be used, and then become feared and hated in the process.
Gleipnir shrugged the feeling off, and stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do.
He racked his brain, and finally decided to lower himself to meet her level.
"Unicorn, it's okay, I just... uh... I went overboard. Sorry. I won't hurt you, I promise." He cooed, trying to calm her down.
Luckily, Illustrious, who was the nearest from the blast, recovered from her trance and went back to check on Unicorn.
"Unicorn! Are you okay?" She called out, worrying for her after seeing her cry.
Gleipnir however, just stood up and stared at them all awkwardly, the satisfaction from earlier erased from his mind.
He exchanged glances with Wales, who was with Hood, and she merely gestured towards the still-crying little girl.
With a look of defeat, he squatted again, meeting her eye level and patted her through his gloves in an effort to calm her down.
"There there, I'm being honest, I won't do it again to you, I promise." He cooed one more time, trying his hardest to stop her tears.
"R-really?" She finally replied.
"Yes. I swear, on my honor as a Flagship." He vowed, taking his status as a guarantee.
Her expressions lit up, no longer scared by the Airborne Fortress.
He stood up once more, taken aback by her ability to be scared to death in one minute, but the next, suddenly had an excited gleam in her eyes.
"C-can you tell me your name again? I forgot..." Unicorn muttered out, asking him to reintroduce himself.
With a sigh, he agreed. "Gleipnir-class Airborne Fortress, Gleipnir. I still remember yours, Unicorn, don't worry."
"Can I call you Glepglep?" She asked innocently.
"Excuse me, what?" He couldn't believe his ears upon hearing the silly nickname.
Gleipnir stared at the girl awkwardly, and proceeded to move his stare at everyone present there, as if asking for help.
He didn't get it though, and remained to stare awkwardly at the purple-haired girl.
Funny how the once so-called Black Death would turn into a clueless man when pitted into a situation such as this.
"Ahem, Unicorn? Come here, the test is over. Don't be afraid of him again, okay?" Illustrious finally broke the awkward atmosphere, and called out to her little sister.
"Mhm!" She then ran to her while holding her plushie that she dropped earlier while crying.
"Ahem..." Gleipnir cleared his throat, trying to get the white-haired woman's attention, "About the results..."
"Ah, yes, that surely must be an S in Anti-Air! And another S for your firepower..." She breathed in fear, still shook from the earlier SWBM explosion, "Seeing that you yourself are an aircraft, I would rate your Aviation stats an S. About speed... How fast can you go?"
"Hmmm, for cruising without afterburners, I could reach about... perhaps 300-450km/h. With afterburners, around 700-800km/h. However, that'll be very brief, since I'm not designed for high-speed maneuvers, fuel issues, and myself literally breaking from the speed." The raven-haired male spoke, informing her of his negligible shortcomings.
"I see... I think that conclu-"
"YOU! IT'S A SIREN!" A voice coming out from another white haired female holding a bow interrupted Illustrious from finishing her sentence.
Behind her were a crowd of kansens, readying their weapons in suspicion.
The situation tenses, and feeling threatened, the Airborne Fortress assumes full battle stance, SWBM ports clanging open with a terrible thud, and the red cross on the Shock Cannon glowing with unholy blue.
