Prologue
My black hair is wet from the cold rain, and strands of it stick onto my forehead. My old black boots are soaking up the water as I run through puddle after puddle.
I keep running, my legs aching as I continue to push forward.
Keep going, Alex. You're almost there.
I continue to chant that sentence in my head, until I feel one of the five plastic bags in my hand slip from grasp.
The cans and boxes inside of it spill all over the sodden sidewalk, and I let out a scream in frustration.
Quickly, I pick up can after can, box after box, and try to stuff them into the plastic bags I have left.
I notice a guy helping me, his brown hair also messed up from the rain. He sorts the boxes and cans so they fit perfectly into my left over bags.
When we're finished, I open my mouth to say thank you, but he looks at me. His eyes are speaking to me, saying so many words that I can't seem to understand.
But just like that, he stands up and walks away.
Those were the most green and beautiful eyes I have ever seen.

{this is a prologue of course. I took down my other stories because I've been getting really good advice on how to write better stories and the other stories were pretty messed up}
