Just a little bump

Also, if you see someone with a service dog, just just automatically go up and pet it. It distracts the dog and owner. If you want to pet the dog, don't look at it, ask the owner first, and if they say yes, give the dog few head pat. And if the owner says no, don't be a fucken dick. Tell them have a good day and sorry for ruining or interrupting their time, then leave. And don't fucken try to call a dog over either, it's rude. Hope you like it, enjoy!

"Let's go." Y/n commanded softly. The white German Shepard walks down the stairs, then down the sidewalk and towards the coffee shop. She heard kids squeal when the service dog passes, then start to cry when their parents won't let them pet the dog.

Getting to  a stop light, the dog pauses, and Y/n hits the button. She hears the beeps signalling it's countdown, then waits for the sound to cross. When the green person pops up, and the robotic voice says to walk, the dog slowly steps down, then moves forwards, navigating her owner to their favorite coffee shop.

The closer she gets to the rustic little shop, the more pronoun the smells get. She's not one for coffee, but Y/n does love the smell of it. "Hey Y/n! Door's open." The owner calls out happily. The woman thanking her and let's Maxine walk her inside, then up to the line.

She takes a deep breath, but there's a flowery smell mixed in with the coffee. Y/n breaths in and her eyes flutter close behind her darken glasses. The flowery smell gets stronger, and god, she just can't get enough of it.

However, Y/n doesn't realize she's too close to the woman in front of her until it's too late, and the scalding coffee is already seeping through Y/n's dress, and burning her stomach. "Shit! Sorry, I'm so fucken sorry!" Y/n hid to bite her lip to not immediately tell the woman it was fine, that just hearing her voice makes it all okay, but that was weird. So Y/n gave the woman a tight smile, repeatedly telling her it was okay.

"Um, is there anything I can do? I can have your dress dry cleaned? Or I can buy you a new one? Also, let me buy you coffee? Jesus, I'm so sorry." The raspy voice rambles about, but Y/n stops her with a hand to her forearm, and again, has to stop herself from saying something ridiculously creepy when she feels the woman's muscles.

"It's fine. Particularly my fault. Your shampoo is intoxicating and I guess I was just following the smell with my nose. And I'm sure my dress is fine, nothing wrong with just a wash. Doesn't need anything fancy. And how about a hot chocolate instead? And she'll," Y/n points down at her dog, who's sitting obediently by her, "will have a doggy bone."

"Of course, can't forget the little treat. Would you like to sit down first?"

"Is the table at the end of the wall free?" Cara looks, then nods, but smacks her head at.the gester.

"Yea, it's free."

"Good, I'll be waiting over there. Come on Maxine." Y/n urges quietly.

Cara orders another coffee for herself, then the hot chocolate and the dog treat for Maxine. She's giving the dog treat first, and the barista tells her she'll bring the drinks over, which is surprising because this coffee shop isn't like that, but she wasn't gonna argue with it.

"Would you like to give your dog the treat?"

"You may do it." Y/n gives a reassuring smile.

"Maxine. Hi sweetheart, here you go. An apology from me for spilling hot coffee on your momma." The dog carefully takes the treat, then lays down and starts to eat it.

"You don't have to keep apologizing. It was an accident. More my fault than yours."

"I should've looked over my shoulder first. Can be both our faults, yea?" Y/n agreed with a nod.

"I'm Y/n, by the way."

"Cara."

"Hey, Y/n."

The woman smiles, "hi Michael."

"Your hot chocolate, and coffee. Enjoy."

"Thank you!" Y/n takes a small sip of her drink, moaning at the taste as she nods. "Their hot chocolate is to die for, thank you. You didn't need to buy me one though."

Cara chuckles, "well, you wouldn't let me pay for dry cleaning or a new dress."

"Because that would be more expensive then a chocolate and treat!" She laughs, Cara smiling widely at the woman's laugh.

"This may be forward of me, and it's alright if you say no, but can I take you on a date?" Y/n instantly tenses, freezing in her spot and Cara knows she fucked up. Until Y/n nods, giving her a small smile.

"I'll be honest. I don't do relationships. My past partners' dont understand things and when it eventually happens, they end up getting pissed at me. I just don't want to get hurt again."

"I understand. You can choose if we go on a second date, and if you just want to be friends, I'll be more than happy to be friends." Y/n nods, sending Cara a smile.

They talk for a bit longer until Cara's cell rings, and after the phone call, Y/n gives a sad smile. "You need to go."

"Unfortunately. Thank you for the lovely conversation. I'll be honestly, how would I contact you?" Y/n gives a chuckles, pulling out her cell and handing it over.

"Call or text. My texts get read to me." Cara bites her lip at the inappropriate remark, but inserts her number.

"I'll call you later then. Bye Y/n."

"Bye Cara." The woman's shampoo lingers until it's completely gone, and Y/n is actually excited about the date. Maybe she'll have her neighbor watch Maxine?
