Chapter 25
** GHOST POV **
"What the fuck are you doing in my room?" I growled in anger as I continued to cover my soaking wet body.
"Enjoying the view?" He shrugged as he smiled playfully.
"Damon!" I swerved through my teeth.
"Darling, you're in my room." Damon said with a smirk on his lips as he held up a room key. "Well, my bathtub if you want to get specific."
I quickly got up and grabbed a towel while Damon's eyes stayed locked on my every move. I wrapped the towel around me as I walked out into the bedroom.
I immediately grabbed the phone sitting on the nightstand next to the king sized bed, and dialed the number for the front desk. I held it to my ear while Damon walked out and flopped onto the bed.
"Thank you for calling the front desk. How may I-" A feminine and annoying voice said on the other line.
"You double booked my room and now there's a strange man here that won't leave." I said in a cold tone, making Damon look at me with furrowed eyebrows before he stuck his tongue out playfully, his cheeks slightly flushed from the amount of alcohol we consumed downstairs.
"I'm so sorry ma'am, did you want us to send security to your room?" She asked as I flipped Damon off with a scowl, causing him to laugh.
"No it's fine. Just fix this room situation." I said in annoyance as I heard her typing on the other end.
"I'm so sorry about this ma'am. There seems to have been a mix up, and we booked another guest in that room tonight as well." She said after a few moments.
"Yes, I can see that. I don't know how you guys fucked this up when you literally had one job." I said as I rolled my eyes.
"I apologize ma'am. It appears that we are fully booked for the night as well." She said, making me groan in annoyance and slam the phone down, ending the call.
"Well?" Damon said with his eyebrow raised.
"Looks like I'm stuck with you for the night." I groaned as I walked over to my duffle bag. I bent down and gripped the towel to make sure it wouldn't fall. I quickly rummaged through my things until I found my silk nightgown.
"You say that like it's bad thing." Damon said as he smirked at me and stood up.
"It is." I said seriously as I stood up and started walking towards the bathroom.
"Don't lie. You were just thinking of me while you were-" He started to say before I slammed the door, cutting off his sentence.
I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration before I changed into my gown. It was short and the silk clung to my skin, and it was my favorite thing to sleep in. I mentally cursed myself for not bringing anything else that was more appropriate, but I never expected to be sharing a room with Damon.
I took a deep breath before I walked out of the room. Damon was shirtless, and wearing a pair of joggers. He was laying on the bed with his arms over his head and his legs crossed in a relaxed manner.
"What do you think you're doing?" I asked as I stood in front of the bed with my arms crossed.
"Relaxing on my bed." He said as his eyes were still closed and a smirk graced his face.
"You're either sleeping on the floor, or the chair in the corner." I said seriously.
"I'm 6'3. You really expect me to sleep in that small ass ch-" He said as he opened his eyes and stopped talking when he saw me. His eyes widened slightly and I saw his chest rise quickly from the sharp breath he took.
"You're not sleeping on the bed with me." I said seriously before walking over to my side of the bed. His eyes locked on my body the entire time.
"Sorry babygirl, but this is my room too, and I'm not sleeping anywhere but this bed." He said as he continued to look at me with an eyebrow raised.
Not wanting to argue, I rolled my eyes and climbed into the bed after I turned off the lights. I grabbed a few pillows and created a barricade. Once there were four pillows lined up horizontally between us, I turned around so my back was facing him and rested my head on the pillow.
"Night." I said in an annoyed tone before I closed my eyes.
After a few moments of silence, I heard Damon shuffling on the other side of the bed, followed by the sound of four pillows hitting the floor. I felt his muscular arms wrap around me, and pull me closer to his him. My body fit perfectly against his, the curves of our figures lining up perfectly as if we were made for each other. He rested his chin on my bare shoulder and nuzzled his face in the crook of my neck.
"Goodnight, baby." He whispered before he kissed my cheek, making me close my eyes to relish in the peaceful feeling. He stayed nuzzled in my neck for a while, before his breathing started to get more relaxed, and his hold around my waist loosened only slightly, indicating that he was asleep. I closed my eyes, feeling more comfortable than I have ever been, and let sleep take over me.

I was in a different room again, strapped to the chair. The bright lights from above burning my eyes. The room was completely white, and doctors surrounded me.
"Subjects vitals are stable. Starting the injection at 100mg." One of the doctors said as his eyes remained glued to the high tech screen displaying my heart rate and blood pressure.
"What the hell is that? Don't come near me with that shit!" I yelled as a doctor came closer to me with a syringe full of red liquid.
But it was no use, my hands and legs were bounded to the chair. I couldn't move. I couldn't escape. I couldn't do anything. The doctor injected the red liquid into my arm, and it felt as if fire was flowing through my veins. I yelled and screamed, but the burning sensation only got worse.
"After 100mg subjects vitals continue to be stable." The doctor in front of the screen said.
"Increase the dosage to 200mg." Another masked doctor in the corner said with his hands behind his back.
The doctor came towards me again, and I thrashed and screamed in my chair. He injected my other arm with the red liquid again, making the burning intensify.
"Rapid increase in heart rate, blood pressure still stable." The doctor called out.
"Increase dosage to 500mg." The other doctor ordered.
I felt another pinch as the syringe went into my arm again, and my body started to convulse rapidly. Foam started to come out of my mouth and my head fell limp to the side. Everything started to blur as I heard the heart rate monitor flat line.
"Ghost!" I heard a voice call out.
"GHOST! WAKE UP!" The voice yelled again.

My eyes shot open and out of instinct I threw a punch out in front of me. Damon was hovering over me, shaking my shoulders roughly. He dodged the jab I threw at him and grabbed my wrist and held it over my head, pushing it against the mattress.
"You're okay. You're okay." He said as my breathing was sporadic and my body was drenched in sweat.
"You were having a nightmare." He whispered as he cupped my cheek and continued to shush me in a calming manner.
Relief flooded through me as I looked around the room and saw that we were laying on the bed in the hotel room. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, and leaned my forehead against the crook of his neck as I breathed deeply.
I've had this nightmare hundreds of times, but it never felt so real. Before, I felt like I was just watching it, like a movie playing on a screen, but this time, I actually felt it. I felt the fear, the anxiety... the death that almost overcame me. I felt every emotion. I felt everything.
"You okay?" He whispered as his thumb stroked my cheek. I felt wetness on my face, and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"Don't cry, it's okay." Damon said in a pained voice as he continued to caress my cheek with his thumb. I can't remember the last time I cried, and this feeling was foreign to me. This anguish, this sadness, this hopelessness, it was something I've never experienced before.
Damon pulled back slightly and his piercing blue eyes met mine. His eyebrows were furrowed in concern and his lips formed a slight frown. He slowly leaned down and kissed me gently.
I felt a wave of relaxation and calmness flood over me, washing out all the negative emotions that previously plagued my body. I closed my eyes and leaned into the kiss, enjoying every second and savoring the feeling. After a few moments, he pulled back slightly, so our noses were touching as he stroked my hair.
"I promise that as long as you're with me, I'll never let anything happen to you." He whispered as he pulled me to his chest and rolled over so he was laying on his back, while my head was resting on his chest. I nodded my head slightly as I nuzzled my face in his neck, inhaling his masculine scent as my body started to relax. One of his muscular arms was wrapped around my waist, while the other was cradling my the back of my head.
I wanted to believe him. I wanted to think that he could protect me. I wanted to think that everything was going to turn out okay. I wanted to stay here in his arms forever, feeling safely tucked away and hidden from the world. But I knew that was nothing more than wishful thinking.
They've found us, and they're hunting us down, and once they find us, nothing in this world could protect us.
