Could Be Worse

3rd person pov
Pyrrh: What do you mean you just left...?
Blake: I-If i stayed, we both would've been killed. He gave me the opportunity to esca-
Pyrrh: If you were there you could've stalled for an extra few seconds!
The yell made him flinch as he looked to Pyrrh who wore an expression barely anyone had seen on him, being a mix of anger yet sadness, tears in his eyes and a scowl on his face.
Pyrrh: All because that woman wanted you, Y/N could be dead!
Blake: I didn't want any of this to happen!
Pyrrh: It only happened because you're god damn coward!
Staring at the Faunas Pyrrh took a moment, having let out his anger with the shouts causing some sense to come back to him, the scowl turning to a worried look. He reached out to Blake but he turned his head away and shuffled back.
Pyrrh: I... I'm sorry
Blake: ...I am too. If it's any consolation, he most likely isn't dead, and is being kept alive for questioning
Pyrrh: What would they ever hope to get out of him?
Blake: Where I am
Next to the open door leading into the recovery room Blake was staying stood Y/N's "teammates" with two of them not as glad that the teen was gone as their team leader was.
Looking to his teammates Emerald expected to see either neutral or glad looks but instead Mercury looked dejected, and Neo... Well, Neo was unreadable. Ever since losing Roman, he wasn't himself.
Emerald: What? It's not like he was ever one of us
Mercury: I feel bad for the guy. Being held captive by Eve and the White Fang must be worse then being dead
Emerald: He's dead to us either way. Come on, Cinder wants to see us anyway
Over in a hidden location, far from the green zone in Vale that almost all the surviving students were sent to, sat a familiar, albeit swollen face who wasn't doing so hot.
One of the people in the room with him, the one who took him here, pulled her fist back and shook it to the side to rid it of the blood and fluids spilled on it from her treatment of Y/N.
Feeling her scroll start to vibrate in her pocket, showing she got a call, she took it out and went to the door, looking to a male with tan freckled skin and long tied back hair.
Eve: Keep sweating him. Even if he doesn't break, it's what he deserves
They just nodded before heading the heavy door shut behind him and kept his eyes on the teen. His head was hanging low, arms tied behind his back with a collar around his neck, metal chains attaching him to the wall.
Y/N: D... Don't suppose you'll go easy on me
?: Why would I?
Y/N: I-It's like a coconut. After hours of beating away at it, you'll only find another hardshell underneath
?: And inside there is the result of all the effort
Y/N: ...Okay, b-bad analogy. But I can't keep doing this
?: Then tell us what we want
Sighing softly to himself Y/N did his best to raise his head to look at the Faunas, squinting and wincing from the light hanging above him but upon spotting the White Fang mask on his face the teen did his best to tear his head away from the sight.
Y/N: I can't do that either
?: Why protect him? We only want to bring Blake back to us
Y/N: Maybe because your psycho boss stabbed him. D-Doesn't seem like she wants him back in the best condition
?: You lie
Y/N: What would I gain from lying about that?
?: You could be trying to trick me into betraying Eve and helping you escape
Paused for a moment or two Y/N considered his point and chuckled softly only to wince, feeling pain in his chest as he must've had some sort of damage to his ribs to cause this.
Y/N: F-Fair point. But I only distracted your boss because Blake got stabbed
?: And some of those words you spoke to her were?
Y/N: ...I don't believe those things, I just needed to say something to keep her attention. Certainly paid for that the hard way
He gestured to all the beatings that had been inflicted on the teen to guess what happened to him but Y/N just stood his head, trying to gesture to his ear but was unable to, given his hands were tied behind his back.
Hearing the door start to open again the Faunas realised they had just been talking the whole time and drew his hand back, striking Y/N across the face causing his head to rock to the side roughly, trying trying breathe in deeply but it just resulted in him coughing.
Eve: Anything, Ilia?
Ilia: He, uh... nothing ma'am
Eve: Don't worry. All humans break, this one is no different
Y/N: Human? Guess that's an upgrade from worm
All these retorts never seemed to go well for Y/N, and this was no different as his hair was grabbed roughly before a knee was rammes into his face, possibly breaking his nose assuming it wasn't already broken.
Eve: The only words I want to hear from you is what I want to hear, are we clear?
Y/N: C-Crystal...
Pulling her hand back Eve just turned around and walked back out, gesturing for Ilia to do the same. Undoing Y/N's wrist binds the faunas took a step or two back afterwards only to properly leave, shutting the heavy door behind him.
Once outside the room he followed after Eve who was making her way down the hall, needing to walk a bit faster to catch up with her leader and the taller between the two of them.
Ilia: Do you really believe he knows where Blake is?
Eve: He helped him escape after all. And if he doesn't crack, then the next will
Timeskip
After night fell and Y/N was huddling himself up in a ball to keep warm he heard the slot in the door slide open before a tray was pushed through containing food which made him slowly pull himself over.
A few seconds after that some extra clothes were pushed through too making him put them on in a desperate attempt to not freeze in the room he'd found himself trapped inside.
Taking the food he considered leaving it alone given there could be some kind of drug hidden in it but as his stomach grumbled he decided to throw caution to the wind and began to eat it.
Ilia: ...How is- was Blake, before the attack happened?
Hearing the voice the teen swallowed, needing to do a double take of what he said to understand it properly before he leaned against the door, doing his best to come up with a satisfying answer.
Y/N: He seemed happy, but also cautious practically all the time
Ilia: You ever think he would want to come back to us?
Y/N: I think, if all the terrorism and murder was... y'know, a thing
Ilia: We aren't terrorists, we're doing what we need to so our people aren't treated like they are
Y/N: Then what did my folks ever do to deserve what you lot did to them?
This caused a bit of confusion to appear on Ilia's face, the faunas soon opening the door and stepping inside the room, light peaking inside which allowed Y/N to see the mask on his face, a sense of panic filling him.
However Ilia took it off, revealing eyes the same colour as his hair. Sitting down across from the teen after closing the door he kept his gaze on him, able to see him perfectly fine thanks to the inate night vision Faumas had.
Ilia: Explain
Y/N: Sorry?
Ilia: Explain
Y/N: ...One more time
Ilia: I'll just leave
Y/N: N-No, I really need you to say it again
Ilia: Why?
The teen didn't want to admit it to himself or someone else, the words struggling to come out so he raised a hand and snapped his fingers by his right ear, a look of sorrow spreading across his face.
Catching onto it the Faunas just grabbed some of the food from the tray and shoved it into Y/N's hand so he'd think about something else and tell Ilia what he wanted to know.
Ilia: What did you mean about your "folks"?
Y/N: Your people killed them because they didn't want to give them food, or reparations
Ilia: We wouldn't just kill people over that
Y/N: Okay, maybe th-they said some stuff to them too, but... they didn't do nothing to no one. We farmed, and if your answer to being insulted is killing two people
He started to trail off, not wanting to say something to cause Ilia to leave as while he was one of the people who was beating him, it was nice to be able to talk to someone and not get hit for it.
Y/N: We just- my parents just wanted to live simply and for me to be happy, not deal with any of this
He hung his head and wiped his eyes, doing his best to keep his composure but after all that had happened to him and confronting the memory once more the urge to break down became stronger and stronger by the second.
Ilia: ...I'm sorry. I'm sure they were good people who didn't deserve what happened
Upon hearing this Y/N's lips quivered. Although Ilia wasn't the one to do it, having someone who was part of the group responsible finally apologise for it was too much for him.
Tears started to stream down his face and the faunas could see it all going down. While the two were on opposite sides, it wasn't as if they were incapable of compassion for eachother.
Slowly Ilia went over to the teen and loosely wrapped his arms around Y/N, gently patting his back causing him to pause for a moment, feeling the warmth of another person in a positive way after all he went through.
In return he hugged him back, not as reserved about this although it was equally as loose given how sore and sensitive his body was at the moment, the two just staying like that in the dark.
Y/N: I... I was never cut out for the Huntsman stuff. I wanna go back home
Ilia: Where would home be for you?
Y/N: I don't... I don't know
Ilia: My home would be back in the Menagerie
Y/N: Then why don't you leave?
Ilia: Neither of us have the freedom. I'm in too deep, and you're a prisoner
The teen just sat there and nodded in agreement, his hands gripping tightly at the back of Ilia's top which made the faunas pause briefly, thinking he was going to try something.
However he didn't, instead just doing it for more comfort so Ilia gently rubbed Y/N's back and shut his eyes, taking a moment to relax as well from all of the chaos he's gone through in the White Fang.
Ilia: Do you think Blake would accept me as I am, not even dating, just... as a friend?
Y/N: If he can be friends with someone with me, then you'd have no problem
Ilia: Heh... wouldn't that be nice?
(Lemme know what you think)
