-Sophie's P.O.V-

It was a beautiful day outside, birds are singing, flowers are blooming...I woke up from my bed because the sunlight rays were aiming at my eyes.

Sophie: Another day...

I muttered to myself as I got off my bed and arranged it for a bit.

After that, I did my daily routine is by going to the shower, brush my teeth, wore my uniform, and cook breakfast.

My name's Sophie and I'm just your average 18-year-old female and a student with a part-time job as a cashier at a grocery store.

I've been living in my apartment for about a year and a couple of months after I moved away from my parent's house so I can live on my own.

Anyways, I'm finished eating my breakfast as I was about to leave, not before I grabbed my glasses and wore them as I looked at myself in the mirror.

Sophie: Alright, I look good now.

I said to myself as I left my apartment and locked it.

I left the apartment building and began walking to school.

-Mini Time Skip-

It's been a couple of minutes of walking to school until I hear a familiar voice behind me.

???: Hey, Sophie.

I turned around to see my friend, (Y/N) (L/N).

Sophie: Oh, good morning, (Y/N).

(Y/N): Morning to you too. Wanna walk to school?

Sophie: Sure.

And just like that, the two of us started walking to school together.

You see, (Y/N)'s been my friend for over a year but I can notice that he has eye bags under his eyelids because he had insomnia.

He always keeps a blank look on his face whilst being tired, not showing any emotion, but he sometimes shows a bit of emotion when we talk about something.

A bit of a backstory for my friend, (Y/N)'s childhood was very horrible because his mother was an alcoholic and abusive to him while his biological father left him and his mother alone.

He's been bullied a lot and no one ever made friends with him until he met me. I befriended him and he was happy to have one friend in his life.

The walk was very silent and I decided to break it.

Sophie: How are you holding up, (Y/N)?

(Y/N): I'm doing fine.

He replied back in a stern voice.

Sophie: Alright then.

We then eventually arrived at school as the two of us started walking at the front entrance of the school.

-(Y/N)'s P.O.V-

Once Sophie and I arrived at the front entrance of the school. I really couldn't help, but to glance at her at times because she's kinda cute, which brings a smile to my face.

Sophie: Anyways, I'll be heading to my classroom. I'll be seeing you at lunch, (Y/N).

(Y/N): Yeah, sure thing.

Sophie smiles as she walks off and I watch her leave.

A smile puts on my face as I'm putting my belongings into my locker, a large figure steps up to me.

Josh: Hey, that's a nice-looking wallet you got there.

I let out a sigh and turned to him.

(Y/N): What do you want?

Josh: I need some money today and I'm gonna get it one way or another.

He says as I look back behind him and see Sophie looking back at me. I gave her the look "Help me", but she looks away and continued moving on. I was shocked that she didn't help me as I let out a sigh and asked the student.

(Y/N): How much do you want?

I asked nonchalantly.

Josh: Just an amount, that's it.

I let out a deep sigh as I pulled out my wallet and handed him some of the amount of my money that comes from my salary because I worked on a part-time job not too long ago.

Josh: Heh, good working with 'ya, kiddo.

He says with a smirk on his face as he walks away.

I then let out a sigh again. "Why does this always happen to me?" That's the question that I've already asked myself every single day.

It didn't matter to me now as I headed towards my classroom and began listening to my teacher's lectures.

-Time Skip to Lunch and No One's P.O.V-

So right now, it was now lunchtime.

Sophie was heading to the cafeteria to eat lunch as she bought a Bento with her.

Sophie looks around in the cafeteria looking for you, but she couldn't find you.

Sophie: (Where is he? If he's not here, I guess I know where he usually goes.)

So she decided to head towards the school rooftop where you usually eat lunch.

Sophie: (Y/N)? Are you here?

Sophie called out to you as she reaches the school rooftop and sees you sitting on the bench with a gloomy look on your face.

Sophie: Oh, there you are.

She notices that you didn't have your own Bento.

Sophie: Hey, where's your Bento?

(Y/N): I forgot about it back at home, plus I don't have enough lunch money to eat. If you ask me what happened, I gave it to some asshole who just wants money and I complied.

He explains in a stern voice and Sophie was a little shocked to hear that.

Sophie: Damn...I'm really sorry, (Y/N).

(Y/N): It's fine.

You said in a low voice as Sophie decided to sit with you. Sophie then opens her Bento and looks at the food she made.

Sophie sighs as she grabbed her chopsticks and picks the shrimp. She was about to eat it until she notices that you were looking at her food.

Sophie: What's wrong, (Y/N)?

(Y/N): S-Sorry, I'm just...really hungry. Can we both share? We're friends, right? Friends sometimes share food with each other.

You spoke with a hopeful smile on your face as Sophie decides for a moment until she eventually gives you an answer.

Sophie: Sorry, (Y/N). But this is my food.

You were a little shocked at Sophie's decision.

(Y/N): Oh...sorry for asking.

You muttered as you turned away and Sophie eventually ate her lunch.

Hours later, classes ended and it was now in the afternoon. I was heading to my locker to grab my things as I opened the locker and see there was a pink envelope with a heart seal in the center.

Sophie: The hell? Who would send me this?

I questioned as I grabbed the letter and opened it.

It reads...

'Dear Sophie...'

'If you are reading this, I guess that means you must've opened my letter.

You see, I've wanted to tell you something.

Please meet me outside at the Sakura Tree behind the school.'

Sophie: Someone's into me? Well...I should go see them for myself.

I said to myself as I was about to head to the Sakura Tree behind the school until I hear a familiar voice behind me.

???: Hey Sophie, where are you going?

I turn around to see (Y/N) standing near the entrance of the school.

Sophie: (Y/N)!

(Y/N): Where the heck are you going? Are you gonna walk home together with me?

He asked as I looked away from him and said...

Sophie: Sorry, (Y/N). Someone sent me a letter and I have to meet them at the Sakura Tree.

I tell him and he looks shocked to hear that.

(Y/N): Really? From who?

Sophie: I don't know, but I'm the only one who could go there and see them for myself. You should head back home.

(Y/N): But-

Sophie: I'll be fine, (Y/N). Don't worry about me.

I said in a reassuring tone as (Y/N) lowered his head down until he spoke up.

(Y/N): Alright, I'll go home.

I smiled at him as I went off to meet up with the anonymous person on the Sakura tree.

Sophie eventually arrived at the Sakura Tree and panted for breath. That's when she heard footsteps in front of her as Sophie looked up to see Jake and he was the popular kid in the school.

Sophie: Jake?

Jake: Heh, hey there, Sophie.

Sophie: Were you the one who sent me the letter in my locker?

Jake: Yup, that was me.

Sophie: Since I'm here now. What is that you want to tell me?

Sophie asked out of curiosity as Jake spoke up.

Jake: Sophie...listen up, okay? You know...I am a popular dude at this school and the girls would try to confess their feelings to me...but...I always turned them down...I just didn't feel like dating anyone...except for one person...

Sophie tilted her head in confusion as she quickly guessed and said...

Sophie: Is it...me?

Jake hesitated for a moment before speaking up to Sophie.

Jake: Yeah...it's you. The thing is, I've already prepared myself to do this and now I'm nervous. So...can you accept my feelings? I wanted to go out with you sometimes.

Jake confesses as Sophie was surprised at this. Sophie decided for a moment until she gives Jake a smile and said...

Sophie: Sure, I accept.

Jake's eyes light up out of happiness.

Jake: R-Really?!

Sophie: Didn't you hear me? Of course, I do.

Suddenly, Jake hugs Sophie, caught her off surprised.

Jake: That's great~! I'll be the best boyfriend ever~!

Jake says gleefully as Sophie smiles and returns the hug back.

Unknown to Sophie and Jake. You were watching them in the distance and seeing this has made you feel heartbroken.

You then decided to walk away and head back home by yourself as you felt tears coming down your eyes.

It's been a week since Sophie accepted Jake's confession as she and Jake were now officially dating together.

However, Sophie noticed that you weren't attending the school for about a week and this gained the attention of the teachers and the students.

Sophie then decided to go check up on you as she went to your apartment room and knocked on the door.

Sophie: Hey (Y/N), it's me. Open the door.

Sophie says until she hers you spoke up.

(Y/N): It's open.

Sophie then opens the door and walks inside. She then finds you in the kitchen and sees that you were sitting on the dining table with a very gloomy look on your face.

Sophie: (Y/N), you haven't been attending school for a whole week. What happened?

Sophie asks in a concerned voice, but you didn't say anything.

Sophie: Look, I'm worried about you, (Y/N). I came here to see if you are alright.

You slowly looked up at Sophie before lowering your head down.

Sophie had a concerned look on her face as she decided to sit down at the opposite side.

Sophie: (Y/N), talk to me.

Sophie says as you looked at her again and said...

(Y/N): Sophie...I have something to tell you this since we've been friends for over a year, you know?

Sophie: Well, what is it?

(Y/N): The thing is...is that I...I love you. You were literally my first friend that you ever came into my life and I thought you'd be just the one since nobody loves me.

Sophie: But (Y/N)-

(Y/N): I know, I know that you're in a relationship with Jake.

Sophie: You still haven't told me why you haven't been gone for a week.

(Y/N): You wanna know why? Heh, I've been thinking about everything on my whole life and how I ended up like this. I've been abused, bullied, alone, rejected, and other things. Well...you opened my eyes, Sophie. Made me realize it's hopeless...

You monologued as you give Sophie a sad smile.

Sophie: (Y/N), I'm-

(Y/N): Now leave me alone. Go on and live with your life with the popular kid in our school. You deserve it, Sophie.

Sophie: (Y/N), please don't-

(Y/N): Just get outta here. I don't want you anymore.

You said in a calm, yet aggressive voice.

Sophie lowered her head in shame as she walks out of your apartment.

Once Sophie was out of your apartment as she headed back to her house until she hears a horrifying sound that was going off.

Sophie: (Y/N)!

Sophie runs back to your apartment room and to her horror...

Sophie: (Y/N)...No...

Sophie muttered the words out of her mouth as she kneels on the ground and her tears starting coming down on her eyelids.

Sophie felt nothing, but guilt and shame to see her only friend give up and committing suicide.

Sophie: (I...I should've...I should've done something better...Was I really a horrible friend to him? Screw this...Screw everything...I've told him that  I would always be there, but now...it's too late to turn back...I'm sorry...I'm really sorry, (Y/N)...)
