A Very Puella Magi Christmas! (Christmas Special!)

(A/N: Ayo, I'm back for one-shot stories for these holidays~!)

-No One's P.O.V-

Mitakihara City was alive with the vibrant hum of Christmas cheer. The snow blanketed the streets in a soft white sheen, and the air carried the scents of roasted chestnuts, peppermint, and pine. Twinkling lights adorned the buildings, and the joyous laughter of children echoed through the streets as they played in the snow. It was picturesque—like something out of a holiday postcard.

You trudged along the sidewalk, the crunch of snow beneath your boots your only companion. Wrapped in your favorite winter jacket and scarf, you shoved your hands deep into your pockets to keep them warm. The cold wasn't bothering you too much—it was your heart that felt a little emptier today. Everyone seemed to be with someone—friends, family, or lovers—while you wandered alone, waiting for the group of girls who had somehow become an essential part of your life.

Despite everything—Witches, Kyubey, and the chaos that seemed to follow them—they had managed to bring light to your otherwise quiet world. And though you'd never admit it, you looked forward to seeing them today.

Your thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice that made you stop in your tracks.

"(Y/N)-kun! There you are!"

Madoka Kaname waved at you from across the street, her pink hair bouncing slightly as she hurried toward you. Following closely behind her were Sayaka Miki, Homura Akemi, Mami Tomoe, and Kyoko Sakura. And, of course, Kyubey, the ever-mysterious Incubator, trotted beside them like a little white shadow.

"Hey, Kaname," you greeted with a faint smile, nodding at her and the others as they reached you. "I thought you guys forgot about me or something."

"As if we would!" Sayaka grinned, her scarf flapping in the chilly breeze. "It's Christmas, after all. We wouldn't leave you hanging."

Kyubey tilted his head up at you, his red eyes glinting. "It's unusual to see you out and about this early in the morning, (Y/N). I'd assumed you would prefer the comfort of your bed."

You let out a dry chuckle, shoving your hands deeper into your pockets. "I would, but I didn't want you all accusing me of being lazy again. Plus, I didn't want to miss out on whatever crazy thing you have planned today."

Kyoko smirked, her hands holding onto her lollipop stick. "Heh, good choice. You snooze, you lose. And believe me, today's gonna be worth getting up for."

"Are you guys really planning something, or are you just dragging me around to see the sights?" you asked, arching a brow. "Because if this is a sightseeing tour, I'm not sure why you needed me."

Mami gave you one of her signature gentle smiles. "It's nothing grand, but we thought it'd be nice to spend the day together, enjoying the festivities. After everything we've been through, we deserve a little peace and happiness, don't you think?"

That sounded... nice, actually. You nodded, trying not to let them see how much the idea warmed you. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense."

...

The group led you to Mitakihara's bustling Christmas market, where stalls lined the streets, each one adorned with colorful garlands and lights. Vendors sold everything from handmade ornaments to steaming cups of hot cocoa. The air was filled with music and laughter, and for a moment, it was easy to forget the darker undercurrents of your lives.

Sayaka immediately ran to a booth selling candied apples, dragging Madoka along with her, while Kyoko beelined for a food stall offering steaming bowls of soup. Homura lingered near a shop selling intricate glass decorations, her expression unreadable as always, while Mami browsed a stand offering festive teas.

You found yourself standing near Kyubey, who watched the crowd with a peculiar stillness.

"Not your kind of thing, huh?" you muttered, glancing down at him.

"I find human celebrations fascinating," Kyubey replied. "The energy you expend on such transient pleasures is... curious. But I suppose it's not entirely inefficient. Happiness can be a powerful motivator."

"Uh-huh," you said dryly. "Well, try not to ruin the mood with your cryptic commentary, alright? It's Christmas. Let's just... enjoy it."

Kyubey's ears twitched. "As you wish."

...

After everyone regrouped, Madoka suggested heading to the nearby park to enjoy the snow. Sayaka and Kyoko immediately declared a snowball fight, with you reluctantly joining in as they pelted each other with expertly aimed projectiles.

"Gotcha, (Y/N)!" Sayaka laughed, landing a direct hit on your shoulder.

You wiped the snow off with a scowl, narrowing your eyes at her. "Alright, Miki, you're asking for it now."

You grabbed a handful of snow, quickly shaping it into a ball and launching it at her. She dodged, but you managed to catch Kyoko instead, earning an indignant shout.

"Hey! What the hell was that for?" Kyoko glared, brushing snow off her jacket.

"Collateral damage," you replied with a smirk. "Don't take it personally."

The snowball fight escalated into an all-out war, with even Mami and Madoka joining in. Homura stayed on the sidelines, watching with a faint smile as you all laughed and hurled snow at each other. Kyubey, wisely, kept his distance.

-Mini Time Skip-

After the snowball fight, the group decided to take a break near a large Christmas tree in the park. You found yourself sitting on a bench with Homura while the others admired the tree's decorations.

"You've been quiet today," you said, glancing at her. "Even more than usual, I mean."

Homura looked at you, her violet eyes thoughtful. "I've been... reflecting. Days like this are rare. It's important to cherish them."

You nodded, leaning back against the bench. "Yeah, I get that. It's nice to just... forget about everything for a while, you know?"

Homura's gaze softened, and for a moment, the two of you sat in companionable silence, watching the others laugh and chatter by the tree.

-Time Skip-

As the evening deepened, the group gathered in Mami's apartment, which she had decorated beautifully for the occasion. The living room was bathed in the soft glow of fairy lights, and a modest Christmas tree stood proudly in the corner, its branches adorned with ornaments and tinsel. A warm fire crackled in the hearth, filling the room with a cozy warmth that banished the chill of the earlier encounter.

You settled into a comfortable chair, a mug of hot cocoa in your hands as you watched the girls chat and laugh. For a moment, you allowed yourself to relax. This was what you had been waiting for—a rare moment of peace and joy.

...

"Alright, everyone!" Mami announced with a cheerful smile. "It's time for the main event—gifts!"

Kyoko grinned, leaning back on the couch. "Heh, don't expect anything fancy from me. My wallet's not exactly overflowing."

Sayaka rolled her eyes but nudged Kyoko playfully. "It's the thought that counts, dummy. And knowing you, I'm expecting food."

Madoka giggled as she retrieved a stack of neatly wrapped packages from under the tree. "I hope everyone likes what I picked out. It's not much, but I really wanted to do something special for all of you."

You shifted in your seat, feeling a little awkward. You weren't great at picking out gifts, but you had done your best. Hopefully, no one would be disappointed.

...

The unwrapping began, and the room filled with laughter and exclamations of delight.

Sayaka opened a small box from Kyoko to find an assortment of her favorite snacks. "Called it!" she said with a grin. "But honestly? This is perfect. Thanks, Kyoko."

Kyoko shrugged, though her smirk betrayed her satisfaction. "Figured you'd appreciate it."

Mami's gift to Homura was a beautifully embroidered scarf in a deep violet hue. Homura's expression softened as she ran her fingers over the fabric. "Thank you, Mami. It's... lovely."

Madoka beamed as she handed you a gift. "Here, (Y/N)-kun! I hope you like it!"

You unwrapped the package to reveal a pair of warm gloves, perfectly suited for the winter weather. "Thanks, Madoka. These are great," you said, slipping them on. They fit perfectly.

Your own gift—a simple yet heartfelt handwritten letter for each of them, accompanied by small charms you had picked out—was met with unexpected warmth.

"Wow, (Y/N)." Sayaka's voice was quieter than usual as she read her letter. "I didn't think you had it in you to be this sentimental."

Kyoko grinned, holding up her charm. "Guess you're not as lazy as you let on, huh?"

Madoka's eyes shone with unshed tears as she clutched her letter to her chest. "This means so much. Thank you, (Y/N)-kun."

Even Homura, usually so stoic, gave you a small nod of appreciation. "It's thoughtful. Thank you."

...

As the clock neared midnight, Mami brought out a tray of Christmas cookies, and the group gathered around the tree, their laughter and conversation mingling with the soft music playing in the background.

For a moment, everything felt perfect. The weight of the past, the battles fought, and the looming uncertainty melted away in the glow of friendship and the spirit of the season.

Madoka leaned over to you, her voice soft. "I'm really glad you're here with us, (Y/N)-kun. This wouldn't have been the same without you."

You glanced at her, your usual calm demeanor faltering for a moment. "Yeah. Me too."

...

As the clock struck midnight, the group raised their mugs in a toast.

"To us," Mami said, her voice steady and full of warmth. "To the bonds we've built and the moments we've shared. May we always find strength in each other."

The others echoed her words, their voices overlapping in a chorus of agreement.

You raised your mug as well, a small smile tugging at your lips. For the first time in a long while, you felt truly at peace.

And as the snow fell gently outside, blanketing Mitakihara City in its silent embrace, you couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, things would be okay.

The End

...

(A/N: And that's about it~! Stay tuned for more~!)
