I sighed, sitting at the edge of the pool.

Dad said he'd take care of an explanation.

But, who knows if it will work.

I don't know if clear-sightedness is genetic or not.

Which I mean is possible.

Having six fingers is dominant but not a lot of people...get out of here biology class!

Where were you when I had to take that genetics quiz?!

But if it is...whatever Dad does might not work.

"Percy...are you going to tell me what's wrong?" Mom sat beside me.

"Nothing's wrong Mom. I'm just tired."

That isn't a lie.

It's just not the whole truth.

I'm tired...of all of this.

And sorry that I'm dumping all of this like within the first few days but...if you know now...

Then maybe you'll understand anything I might do.

"Mom?"

"Yes honey?"

I opened my mouth and then I shut it.

No. Just let her keep believing I'm happy.

It would be best for her.

"I feel like Kendra isn't... normal."

"What do you mean?"

"Just a feeling." I tilted my head towards a few fairies.

She nodded.

"Well, how about we get some breakfast in you?"

I nodded and the two of us entered the kitchen where there was a pile of pancakes...

And a separate pile of blue pancakes.

"Mom, have I ever told you how much I love you?"

She chuckled and handed me the plate. "Only every time you see me. Now eat up."

I grabbed the syrup and poured it on the miracle food.

"You're going to drown them." Seth said.

I froze.

And then I slowly sat the syrup down.

And then I scarfed the pancakes down before standing.

"I'm going outside." I mumbled.

Why do the Fates hate me this much?

As I sat back down by the pool, I heard footsteps run after me.

"Hey Percy, are you okay?" Kendra asked.

"Yeah. I'm good."

"Look at Kendra. She's trying to comfort the new girl."

"She's obviously just trying to show us up. Why else would she do that?"

Kendra let out a small sigh.

Wait...can she understand them?

"The butterflies are pretty."

I mean there are some with butterfly wings.

So...

Yeah.

Logical choice.

"Yeah. They are."

"She called me pretty!"

"No she called me pretty!"

And thus started another fight between the fairies.

I'm regretting it now.

"Kendra? We have an issue." Grandpa yelled from the kitchen window.

"Coming!"

She hopped up and ran into the house.

Well then.

That's nice.

"Wonder where she's going?"

"I have no idea. But maybe we can get Seth out here."

I looked up, only to see the two satyrs.

"We could get him to play tennis with us."

"Like that will work. He needs to work on his backhand."

"There's that girl again."

"Who is she anyway?"

"Hold on, I'm going to go check her out."

"What if she notices?"

"She sees a goat. Don't worry about it."

Newel, I think, walked over to me and sniffed the air around me.

"She smells...like a..."

"Hey. Goat mind leaving me alone?" I shoved him.

"Mean." He bleated before walking away.

If I can keep my secret...that will be a miracle.

If I can't...well.

Zeus will probably kill me.

You know...I think I'm going to go take a nap or something.

Probably something.

Kendra

"Are you sure?"

Grandpa nodded. "Something damaged the barriers protecting the entire preserve. Bracken told me that he detected it yesterday. And there was some more damage this morning. Right before Percy came back inside."

I frowned. This is weird.

The barriers are insanely strong.

Strong enough to hold giants and dragons.

What could even damage them?

"Wait, how could you tell?" Seth questioned.

Bracken shrugged. "It was a powerful surge of energy. I went to check and I noticed the barrier was weakened. Simply put, I believe someone, or something was trying to break the barrier."

"Why would they want to do that?"

"Why would who want to do what?"

We looked up to see Percy standing in the doorway.

"Nothing. Your mother and father are out front if you want to join them."

She gave Grandma a weird look. "My father?"

We all shared a look.

"Yeah. Your dad." Seth finally said.

"You mean Paul?"

Grandma nodded. "I am surprised he let's you call him by his name."

"Um...He's not my dad guys. My dad left before I was born. But I mean Paul is awesome, I wouldn't mind if he was my dad."

Oh.

Well. That's... interesting.

I wonder why Sally didn't tell us this.

And why can none of us figure this out for ourselves?

Cause now it's kinda obvious.

"I'm going to go take a nap. Mind if I use your bed Kendra?"

I shook my head. "Go ahead. But the air mattress is set up."

"Okay. I'll be back down in a bit." She disappeared.

"Anybody else thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Nobody ever knows what you're thinking Seth."

He huffed. "We should watch her. It happened right before she came back in. I'm willing to bet that it happened around the time she went outside too."

"That makes sense. As I felt the first surge right before we couldn't find her. Did anyone actually look in the car?"

We all looked down.

Bracken sighed.

"Okay...so normally I wouldn't say this...but since of the circumstances. You guys are idiots. Except you Kendra."

Welp.

I'm getting dragged to watch graduation.

So I'm wearing a dress.

A DRESS

kill me now please

But it's actually really comfy...

But got any ideas guys?

Like anything?

At all.

Now... I'm gonna go type or something.

Cause I've got around two hours to kill or something

So

See yah
