Chapter 16

Previously~

"You can't say that we're not allowed to be with Edd."

"You're right, I can't." Keva and Marty looked at her confused. "Don't waste your time fighting over her. Edd decides who she wants to go to the dance with, Edd decides who she wants to be with." She turned away again, "and I am curvy. Not fat, you two just don't know the different because you're both boney as fuck."

~oOo~

And with that Eddi spun around causing her blue skirt to flow, and walked away leaving the two teens shocked with her words.

Both teens just stood there silent, the only sound was the footsteps from students walking throughout the halls, and the soft murmur of voices having a conversation in the background.

Marty balled his hands into fists and softly growled in anger, storming off. Keva stared at him confused. She then rolled her eyes and continued to look for her girlfriend so that she could ask her to the dance. She hoped that Edd would've assumed that they were automatically going together because of the fact that they were in a relationship. But being that they haven't been dating for too long, and knowing Edd, that's probably not something she would assume.

Marty sat outside under a tree, he had stormed out of the building. He sat with his hood over his head, hugging his knees. For years, he had adored her, chased and pined after her. He knew that she didn't feel the same way, but he didn't want to give up on her, not just yet. He was told, by his friends, by his brothers, by his own father, that if you love someone, you never give up on them.

He thought, that maybe if he kept asking her, or kept flirting, that eventually she'd return the feelings and say yes to him.

'I guess I was wrong...' He thought to himself.

"Marty? S' that you dude?" He heard someone say to him. He looked up and saw a familiar blonde with pale blue eyes and an award winning smile. He internally groaned and pulled his hoodie more over his head and slumped down further against the tree.

"The fuck do you want?" He grumbled extremely annoyed.

The blonde sat down next to him on the grass.

"You alright?" He asked with a worried tone of voice.

"What's it to ya?!" He griped.

"Woah! Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed." Marty rolled his eyes at him, still looking forward and not directly at him.

"...you look like crap."

"Heh, tell me something I don't know." He laughed bitterly.

"...did something happen? You're kinda worrying me."

"Wow! Mr. Prep is worried about me?" He said in a sarcastic exasperated expression. "Why do you care anyways?"

"Like I said...you're worrying me." He scooched closer to him. "Ya Know, you can talk to me. I won't judge, what happened?"

There was a long silence.

"My lady..." He started off. "The girl I liked, I liked her for years. Even loved her. For so long, I chased after her, gave her gifts, protected her. But she doesn't feel the same way as I do... I thought, that maybe if I kept on trying, that one day she'd finally say yes." His eyes started to become slightly red and puffy. He pulled on his hoodie strings so that his hood would almost completely envelop his face.

The blonde stared at him with pity.

"The other day I...I found out, that... That she's dating someone else now. It's pretty much hopeless. I have no shot with her now."

He had already, and easily figured out who said girl was.

"Marty..." He moved his hand to place it on Marty's shoulder. He slapped his hand away.

"Don't touch me...I don't need or want your pity."

There was another silence.

"I know just how you feel. To like someone and not have them like you back-"

"-Bull shit!" He hissed. "You're the most popular guy in school Nate. Everybody fucking likes you, you could have anybody you wanted! You don't have any idea how you feel!"

"Hmph." He laughed inwardly. "You're wrong." He had a sad smile on his face. "It's true that many girls want me." Marty scowled. "But the one person I wanted, I couldn't have."

"Yeah? Who's that?"

Nate chuckled "Nice try. that's for me to know, and me only."

"It's alright. It seams bad now, but with time you'll get over them."

"No it won't! I've loved her for so long, you expect me to just get over her?!"

"Not over night. It's probably for the best though."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You've chased after this girl for years yes? And up till now she still hasn't said yes? Sounds like she's not interested. And if she's not into you, then sadly it's never going to work. I learned that the hard way. You should just leave her be. She's found someone else who she likes, who makes her happy. As hard as it is, you'll just have to accept that, and move on."

Marty looked down sadly, he didn't want to believe it, but deep down he knew that he was right.

"Hey, and besides." Nate said putting his arm around Marty's shoulder. "If she doesn't like you back, then she's not worth your time." He smiled sweetly at him. "And who knows, maybe the one for you is closer than you think."

Sorry it's short...under 1000 words which is usually my bare minimum word count per chapter. But if I added anything else, it would ruin what I wanted this chapter to be about... Sorry. Just leave me some ideas for the next chapter. Ideas always help.
