Chapter 5. Back to base

"Morning my beautiful spark," I purred as Skylar jolted awake. I kissed her cheek, "Do you feel better? Calmer?" I asked. She gave a brief nod, "I am fine." Skylar's voice sounded hoarse from crying so much the other day. She didn't really look fine. Her eyes were red and swollen and she was quite pale. I helped her get up and pulled her in a hug, holding her head. "It's gonna be okay," I murmured. "I will never leave you again." I felt her smile a little. "I rather see you smile than cry," I added. She snorted and looked up. "Let's go back to base," I added. She gave a small nod and changed her clothing before following me outside. I got her some food as well, she seemed pretty hungry and thirsty.

Skylar looked slightly better after that and some spirit came back. Slowly, I grabbed her hand but kept my eyes on the road. "Sometimes you scare the hell out of me, you know that?" I asked. She smiled. "I should have know you would go after me. What happened to your leg?" I asked. "I got stuck in barbed wire," she mumbled. "I probably would have yelled at you for being an complete idiot but I won't because... I am nice today." She giggled and tightened her grip on my hand. "It's time for to kill some people." She raised a brow. "What? Why?" she asked. "I have some unfinished business here too."

"Did you kill Dreadraid?"

"No, we fought for a couple of days, I injured him pretty bad but he escaped me. The coward!" I sneered. "He's more scary than you are." I glared at her. "Ouch." She laughed. "He forced me to eat human flesh... he eating eyeballs and fingers like chicken nuggets." I raised a brow. "The human flesh was raw... not fried." I shivered at that. "Why is my family so messed up?" I asked. "Only Sideswipe is normal." I glared at her again. "You are a psychopath, your father is a psychopath, your half brother is psychopath and your mother is... high grade addicted?"

I gave a small nod and sighed. "Not just high-grade," I added. "You get the point, Sunny," she sulked. I glanced at her again before kissing the back of her hand. After an hour, I arrived at the base and brought Skylar towards the medbay before I decided to have a chat with a few people. "You found her?" Prowl asked. I smashed him against the wall with enough force to dent his frame. "If you ever.. lock my girl up, in a dark, isolated basement again... you wish you never existed. Don't ever touch my girl again, am I clear?" I snarled, pressing my sword against his stomach. He groaned, "I am sorry." I threw him on the ground. Steam emerged from my nose. "But she's okay, no need to freak out about it," Ironhide snapped.

"Okay?! She's not okay!" I screamed. Everyone flinched. "Are you really going to tell me that now I returned she'll be fine while she has been through so much?" I spat. "Have you seen the cuts on her arms? Or the pain reflected in her eyes? She's not okay!" I shouted. "If you ruined her... I will ruin you like you ruined her. I will never forgive you if you she suffered because of a stupid order you followed," I snapped. Ironhide looked away, "I am back now... so stay away from Skylar unless it's an emergency but if I figured out you came near her again and bothered her... I will make your life a hell," I snapped. "Enough, Sunstreaker," Optimus sighed as he walked in.

"Enough?! Look what you have done to my girl. She's broken! Traumatized!" I shouted. My frame was overheating again so I took a deep breath and tilted my helm high up in the air and left. I caught up with Sky and took her to her room. I grabbed her comfy clothes and handed it to her. "Thanks." She started undressing while I sat down.

"C'mere."

I gestured to Sky to come closer as she was done and pulled her on my lap. "Listen, Sweetspark. I know that you're concerned and scared about the future, about Dreadraid and what will happen to me. I felt like I failed you. I wasn't there to protect you and you have no idea how much it hurt me. You've been a strong femme, like I remember but your spirit seems to have vanished. I need that back, I need your temper and spirit back."

"I know it's just— when my parents died, my world collapsed. I was angry and depressed. I lost my home, everything I knew. Then I got here and met you... you became my life, my world. Besides your serial killer side, I knew that I could rely on you and trust you. When you died, it literally made me wanna kill myself. What happened wasn't your fault, I am not blaming you for anything. We just started to have some sort of 'normal' life but... it actually felt like it was my fault, that if you hadn't met me, none of that would have happened."

"I wouldn't be here if I hadn't met you, Optimus brought me back because he knew how much you cared for me," I said. "I haven't seen you for three years..." she rubbed my cheek and I leaned into her touch. "What happened wasn't your fault, so don't blame yourself. I am the serial killer here and not you. The blame is my own." She hugged me and nuzzled in my neck. "You're a hot serial killer though," she whispered near my ear. I rubbed her back.

"You know what... I don't feel anything. No empty or sympathy but... I can sense you're upset so... if you'd like I can... make a... cake? To cheer you up a little bit. You're favorite one... chocolate one." She smiled widely and nodded. "Just today, I am the mech, you should be looking after me but I am willing to make an exception, alright?" She nodded and kissed my cheek. "Good, now get off me!" I snapped and pushed her on the ground.

She grunted as she hit the ground. I arrogantly got up and tilted my head in the air. "I have stuff to do and you're keeping me up," I snapped and left.
