Story Criteria:

Book Title: /5

1. Does not match the story/cover/blurb.

2. Either too long or short and doesn't entice a reader.

3. Lacks originality - the reader has seen it many times before.

4. Relevant to the blurb/story but needs changes.

5. Original, catchy and intrigues the reader.

Book Cover: /5

1. Words on the cover don't match the title and/or the graphic doesn't relate to the story.

2. Blurry or unclear and confuses the reader.

3. Lacks originality and is overused.

4. Is attractive yet could be polished to further enhance a reader's desire to read.

5. Eye-catching, creative and compels the reader to click on the story.

Summary: /5

1. Provides no information for reader, leaving them confused and uninterested.

2. A relevance to the story but it's messy and needs polishing.

3. The summary is there but doesn't give the reader a chance to question it and become interested.

4. It's intriguing and captures the reader but needs some more refining.

5. It's engaging and leaves the reader wanting more.

Grammar & Punctuation: /5

1. Too many mistakes and the story doesn't flow well.

2. Less correct punctuation than mistakes.

3. Noticeable mistakes but doesn't make the story too cringe.

4. Hardly any mistakes, making the story flow well and comes natural to the reader.

5. Perfect; not a single mistake in this department. Leaves the reader captivated.

Character Building: /5

1. Characters are built like a cliche. As if all characters were the exact same person.

2. Jumps between different characteristics for the characters - like a split personality.

3. Good, but could be better. Doesn't leave a standing impression on the reader.

4. A few slip ups on the characters building but otherwise pretty good.

5. Characters are built smoothly and correctly. The reader knows your character as well as you do - and there isn't any confusion.

Writing Style: /5

1 Basic and cliche.

2. Slightly different to the standard style.

3. No flow between the words and sentence.

4. Creative but confuses the reader.

5. New but easy to read the story smoothly.

Plot Originality: /5

1. Unsure what the plot is about, confusing the reader further.

2. Follows the same plot as many other stories - unoriginal.

3. Not quite unique, but a little different.

4. Slightly cliche, but written well enough to keep the reader coming back for more.

5. Completely differs to any other story the reader has read before.

Reader Engagement: /5

1. Cliché and overused tropes that made the story stale.

2. Had trouble keeping the readers attention and bored them in parts.

3. Was all right but could have been more interesting,

4. Reader was engaged for most parts of the story, whereas other parts lacked interest and flare.

5. Kept the reader's attention throughout and made them fall in love with the characters and the story itself.

1. Provides no information for reader, leaving them confused and uninterested. Title is unoriginal and the book cover is blank or doesn't fit the story at all.

2. A relevance to the story but it's messy and needs polishing (for all three).

3. The three elements are there but doesn't give the reader a chance to question and become interested.

4. They're intriguing and captures the reader but needs some more refining.

5. They're all-round engaging and leaves the reader wanting more.

Grammar/Punctuation: /5

1. Too many mistakes and the poem doesn't flow well.

2. Less correct punctuation than mistakes.

3. Noticeable mistakes but doesn't make the poetry too cringe.

4. Hardly any mistakes, making the story flow well and comes natural to the reader.

5. Perfect; not a single mistake in this department. Leaves the reader captivated.

Content & Imagery: /5

1. Too many miss-matched imagery and the poem doesn't flow well. Reader is unsure what you're trying to get them to imagine with your words.

2. Content is there but it is lacking in imagery still.

3. Some confusion but the content can be understood and readers are taken on some kind of adventure with the words.

4. Hardly any confusion or mistakes. Content is present and flows in most areas, needing some help in some. Imagery is flowing, and takes the readers on the adventure you had planned.

5. Content and imagery is done well, flowing in all areas smoothly and without any mistakes. It is powerful and raw, evident to those reading it also.

Word Selection: /5

1 Basic and cliche - overused words that could've been replaced with a synonym.

2. Slightly different but still a heavy use of similar words.

3. No flow between the words or sentences. The words selected could be changed with better imagery synonyms.

4. Creative use of vocabulary but confuses the reader still.

5. A various use of synonyms that make it easy to read the poetry smoothly.

Creativity & Reader Engagement: /5

1. Unsure what the poems are about, confusing the reader further.

2. A similar poem as many others - unoriginal.

3. Not quite unique, but a little different, interesting the reader further.

4. Slightly cliche, but written well enough to keep the reader coming back for more.

5. Completely differs to any other poetry collection the reader has read before and intrigues them immensely.
