he crawled right next to you
you ignored him as best as you could
but then he said what he did, he rued

what he did to you could not be tolerated
but he made himself vulnerable
he whispered and told you, "i repent."

the moment that you cried
the moment the tears fell
the little girl amidst all this
started crying as well

she knew she wasn't part of it
she knew she should've gone asleep
but she knew you were in danger
she knew you would weep

but she couldn't do anything
she was only little

she could've stopped it
