Walk Home
Wonho's POV
"I'll walk you home."
I stood up from my seat and took my bag and bastketball from the floor, slinging my bag on my shoulder with my basketball in my other hand.
She followed my actions and said, "But I bet I'll be fine on my own, oppa."
"No. I have to walk you home because there's a lot of kidnappings occuring this month and I don't want that to happen to you." I explained, staring right into her eyes with seriousness.
"Wonho-oppa.." She uttered before letting out a deep breath, moving her eyes away from mine, "Fine.."
We went out of the cafè and started to walk to her street. My street is just beside her's so it's a win-win situation.
The sky was turning into a dark shade of blue and a mix of black with specks of fading dark orange and yellow. The sky was starting to litter with white stars aand the moon was starting to appear faintly.
We were walking in silence, excluding the people who were walking and chatting and the cars bustling on the road.
My phone rang, meaning someone was calling. I took out my phone and saw that Minhyuk was calling. I answered that phone and placed it on my ear,
"Hey, Minhyuk-ah. Why'd you call?"
"Yah! I tried to call you earlier but there was no signal but thank goodness I got to call you now."
"Oh... But really, why'd you call?"
"We're at a ramen shop near the school. What'd you call it..? Ah! 'Ramenlicious Heaven'"
'What're they doing there?'
"And? What's the occasion?"
"Kihyun got a girlfriend!"
I stopped in my tracks, eyes widening as my mouth agaped. What? Kihyun got a girlfriend without telling us he has eyes for someone?
Sophia also stopped walking when she saw me, who was looking all shocked while on the phone.
"What? He got a girlfriend...?!"
"Yeah! You'll know the full story when you come here at the ramen shop!"
I stole a glance at Sophia, our eyes meeting for a brief second before I smiled, saying into the phone,
"Sorry, Minhyuk. But I gotta walk Sophia home. Maybe I'll meet her next time."
"Oohh~! I see! I'll just tell the rest of the gang. See you two tomorrow!"
"Okay. Bye, Minhyuk."
I hanged up and turned off my phone, still a bit shocked at the news.
Never in a million years have I imagined Kihyun having a girlfriend.
I felt someone tug my sleeve, making me look down and only see that it was Sophia.
"Wonho-oppa, what did Minhyuk-hyung said?" She asked, curious
I stuffed my hand in my pocket with my phone, looking down at the ground.
"Kihyun got a girlfriend." I repeated Minhyuk's words, letting out a small sigh.
"Oh..." Sophia slowly let go of my blazer sleeve, her bangs covering her eyes slightly.
I was confused. When she hears news like that, she'll be happy and cheery, saying how happy she is. That happens when our classmates say they have a girlfriend/boyfriend.
But her reaction is different.
She looks sad.
"Sophia," I lifted her chin with my index finger, meeting her dull-looking orbs, making me more worried,
"Are you okay?"
She nodded and turned her head to the side, a small smile on her lips, "Yeah... I'm okay.. Let's go home now."
Before I could speak, she took my wrist and started to walk once again. I could fell something off about her aura but didn't speak about it, letting her drag me.
I wonder... I wonder what's happening to her...
Soon, the two of us are now walking at an empty sidewalk, the streetlights turned on as I heard some cricket sounds.
Sophia was still holding my sleeve but her walking slowed down a bit. She was silent all the way, making me wonder more.
We passed by a few houses until we finally reached her house. I looked at Kihyun's house and saw that his room light is not turned on, considering that he may still be with the guys or walking his girlfriend home.
She let go of my sleeve and turned to me but I dragged her towards her door, not liking the idea that I'm not going to fully walk her home.
"Yah!" Was the first word she said once we stood infront of her door, giving me a look that was saying, 'why-did-you-did-that?'
"Yeah?" I asked, a teasing tone in it, "I walked you home yet you didn't said 'thank you'" I joked while she huffed.
Now the time for some questions..
"Than--" I cutted her off when I held both of her hands, making her a bit confused and suprised.
"Sophia." The way I said her name made me question if this Hoseok is really Hoseok.
"Ye-Yes, Wonho-oppa?" She asked, maybe she was not liking the seriousness my voice held.
"Tell me." I said, or more like demanded as I gripped her hands.
"There's nothing for me to tell you." She said, avoiding my gaze as I saw her bottom lip wobble a bit as her eyes turned a bit glassy.
Sophia..
I let out a sigh before pulling her into a hug, just like earlier. Her face pressed into my broad chest with my head ontop of her head, just like earlier.
"I'm not liking this. I don't like you being sad. I know I'm always chill and all but I get worried sometimes, you know. I get worried over stuff. I get worried for the people whose close to me. I get worried about you..." I trailed off, feeling my heart pound a bit.
But I continued, "Sophia, you're special to me. You've been there with me through good and bad. We've known eachother for a year yet why don't you tell me your problems? I know that you go to Kihyun for that but remember that I'm always here for you. So please, tell me what's bothering you."
Suddenly, the door of Sophia's house opened and her parents were there, making the two of us quickly pull away from the hug.
"O-Oh! Good evening, appa, eomma/ Mr. and Mrs. Kim!" The two of us greeted nervously, bowing at the two adults.
Mr. Kim looked at me with warning eyes, making me gulp while Mrs. Kim giggled, saying "Good evening to the two of you too."
"Sophia, who's this boy?" Mr. Kim asked his daughter.
Sophia smiled slightly and gestured her hand to me, saying, "He's Wonho-oppa. He came here with the rest of the guys for dinner one time, remember?"
"Oh! I remember! He's the boy who brought some flowers." Mrs. Kim said, looking all delighted.
"Yep. And the reason why I just got home now, is because me and oppa went to the arcade and cafè after school." Sophia lied the last two words, nudging my arm slightly.
I went back to my sense and said, "Y-Yeah! It was just a little hang-out, Mrs. Kim. After that, said she wanted to go home alone but I said that I would walk her home since something might happen to her."
"My, that was very kind of you." Mrs. Kim said, giving me a kind smile, her eyes having a small glint in them.
"Thank you for bringing my daughter home, Wonho." Mr. Kim said while Sophia walked to them, giving them a kiss on the cheek.
"No problem, Mr. Kim." I said, scratching the back of my neck.
"Thanks, Wonho-oppa."
I nodded and gave Sophia a bright grin, which made her smile a bit. I gave a bow and looked at them,
"See you tomorrow, Sophia. It was nice seeing you, Mr. and Mrs. Kim. I'll get going now."
The female adult nodded, "Okay, young boy. Thank you for walking her home."
"Yah, appa. Thank Wonho-oppa." Sophia ordered, looking up at the blonde male, who merely grunted.
"Thank you, Wonho."
I smiled and bowed again, "You're welcome! I'll be going now!"
I waved at them before walking out of their area, hearing them say 'goodbye' too. I hummed, happy that I got a decent conversation with Sophia's parents.
But she didn't got to answer my question.
Thoughts were running inside my mind, mainly about Sophia's gloomy actions earlier and Kihyun's love life.
Kihyun's got a girlfriend now. Sophia's a bit crestfallen, I think, when she heard the news. She didn't want that hamster stuff-toy at the arcade, which had me a bit shocked since she tends to like things that reminds her of people close to her.
"Maybe just maybe... She's sad that Kihyun's in a relationship now.." I mumbled to myself, looking down at the ground as I walked towards my street.
But why would Sophia be sad about Kihyun's relationship? She's usually happy about these kind of stuff, so it's a bit confusing to me on why she'd be sad about it.
Maybe she likes Kihyun
