At the Beginning

Feeling the Love Tonight

At the Beginning

Summary: Branch and Poppy finally share their first dance as husband and wife at their wedding, surrounded by their friends and loved ones.

Takes place after Trolls: Trollstopia.

It was a party unlike any other. The ceremony was simple and small, but in compromise for both the bride and the groom, the reception party afterwards was one of the biggest bashes ever been held by the Pop Trolls. Just a couple of months ago, both Poppy and Branch made a double-proposal in front of the entire village of Trollstopia, and they accepted them with happy hearts. Now, they had finally tied the knot.

All of their friends, both in Trollstopia and in the other music tribes were invited. Even their friends over in Bergen Town. The ceremony was attended by their closest friends and family, while everyone else attended the reception that followed afterwards.

The Bergens were out partying on a nearby hill overlooking Trollstopia having their party while all of the Trolls were celebrating in the village. The happy couple were near the front, looking so happy that they were practically glowing.

Poppy wore a simple white gown with sparkles all over it, her veil being simple white lace with flower designs, and her hair curled up and loose without her usual headband. Branch wore a simple black tuxedo with a blue tie that gradually faded into teal at the bottom. Two simple gold bands were on their left hands. Poppy was wearing her queen's crown on top of her head over her veil, while Branch was wearing a similar leaf crown, fitting for the newly coronated King of the Pop Trolls.

They looked around the room and saw everyone they knew having a fantastic time. DJ Suki, Satin, Chenille, Smidge and surprisingly Barb, were Poppy's bridesmaids. Each of them wore a pink and somewhat frilly dress, but Barb had hers a little more fitting for a Rock Troll, having the sleeves torn off with jagged edges, and wearing fancy black fishnets on her arms and legs. Poppy was pretty sure that the twins had a nervous breakdown when they saw Barb's alterations to her bridesmaid dress, but she quickly assured them that it was fine. After all, Barb is still Barb.

Biggie, Guy Diamond, the Funk twins Cooper and Prince D, Trollex, and Hickory were Branch's groomsmen. All of them wore tuxedos with blue ties, except for Guy since glitter Pop Trolls normally don't wear clothes, but he still wore white cuffs and a blue bowtie. Hickory even had a little matching silk top hat on his head.

Then, after about half of the guests, both Troll and Bergen, gave them their congratulations, it was time for the bride and groom to share their first dance as husband and wife. Poppy happily took her new husband's hands and then led them over to the dance floor, Branch chuckling and shaking his head in amusement.

Once they got over to the dance floor, which was open and empty, everyone settled down and got quiet as the bride and groom locked eyes, and then hands. DJ Suki then got out a record and started to play it. Everyone was quiet as the familiar love song started to play, and the newlyweds began to softly sway to the melody.

As Poppy recognized the song that was playing for their special dance, she quickly recalled all of the memories and adventures she shared with Branch, leading them up to this very moment. Feeling something swell inside her, she started to sing along to the words, her lovely voice soft and sweet.

Poppy: We were strangers
Starting out on a journey,
Never dreaming
What we'd have to go through.

Now here we are,
I'm suddenly standing
At the beginning with you.

Branch softly smiled at his new wife, feeling the same thing what she was feeling. He then took up singing along with the next part, his own golden voice smooth and beautiful.

Branch: No one told me
I was going to find you.
Unexpected, what you did
To my heart.

Poppy blushed at those words, but she still stared deep into her husband's eyes as they continued to sing and dance together, their hands entwined and Branch occasionally spinning Poppy around. As they did, everyone noticed that they had started to glow with sheer joy and happiness, little blue and pink sparkles falling from the tips of their hair. Just like that day when they sang their special song, "True Colors", which lifted everyone's spirits up and restored their colors when they saw that the then gray survivalist finally let go of his grief and sung for the brokenhearted princess, showing the change in him because of her and of her hope.

Both: When I lost hope,
You were there to remind me
This is the start.

And life is a road that I wanna keep going.
Love is a river I wanna keep flowing.
Life is a road, now and forever;
A wonderful journey.

I'll be there when the world stops turning.
I'll be there when the storm is through.
In the end, I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you.

The newlyweds smiled lovingly at each other as memories from their adventures came into their heads. First when they went to Bergen Town, and then the World Tour. After the two big ones, then it was just little snippets of the times they've spent together in between those two adventures, and after the World Tour; with establishing Trollstopia and further strengthening the Tribes' own relationships with each other, as well as their own. Yes, they were the best of friends first and foremost, but there was so much more to it, even back then. It just took them a long while to realize that.

Poppy: We were strangers
On a crazy adventure,

Branch: Never dreaming.
How our dreams would come true.

Both: Now here we stand,
Unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you.

And life is a road that I wanna keep going.
Love is a river I wanna keep flowing.
Life is a road, now and forever;
A wonderful journey.

I'll be there when the world stops turning.
I'll be there when the storm is through.
In the end, I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you.

Finally, Poppy and Branch noticed the soft glow coming from each other and the sparkles falling gently from their hair. They then remembered when this had happened the first time, which felt so long ago, and yet at the same time, it only felt like yesterday. When they locked eyes again, they just smiled even brighter at each other as they continued to slowly dance, their foreheads gently touching the other's, as that one precious moment played once more in their minds.

Knew there was somebody, somewhere
Like me alone in the dark.
Now I know my dream will live on.
I've been waiting so long.
Nothing's gonna tear us apart!

By now, everyone was trying their best to hold back tears as the newlyweds continued to sing out their love while dancing, their divine voices ringing out in perfect harmony, and their movements beautiful and graceful. They had never seen two Trolls, or any other creatures, more in love than the pair dancing and singing before them.

And life is a road that I wanna keep going.
Love is a river I wanna keep flowing.
Life is a road, now and forever;
A wonderful journey.

I'll be there when the world stops turning.
I'll be there when the storm is through.
In the end, I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you.

Branch: Yeah.

Both: Life is a road that I wanna keep going.
Love is a river I wanna keep going on.

Poppy: Starting out on a journey.

Both: Life is a road that I wanna keep going.
Love is a river I wanna keep flowing.
In the end, I want to be standing
At the beginning with you...

The song finally ended on a quiet, smooth chord as the dancing bride and groom slowly stopped, their foreheads touching each other's again, and the glow softening just enough. When the newlyweds moved back, they leaned back in for a sweet kiss as their guests all clapped and cheered for joy. When they broke the kiss, they shared a loving hug.

Life is definitely a crazy adventure, but the love Poppy and Branch share makes it all worth it for them. Now, as husband and wife; and King and Queen of the Pop Trolls, they will continue to face whatever challenges, trials and crazy shenanigans they might face together. Just like it always had been, and always will be.

A/N: I wanted to upload it on Valentine's Day, but I've been busy with other projects. Oh, well. At least I finished this little piece of fluff. This was meant to kind of be a sequel to my one-shot, "Asking the Same Question", even if it is a little bit short. Maybe one day, I can expand on it, but I'll have to see.

The song that I used is "At the Beginning" from one of my all-time favorite movies, "Anastasia", sung by Donna Lewis and Richard Marx. I just love this song so much! But I don't own it in any way or form. All credit goes to their rightful owners.

That's all for now, y'all! Please leave a comment about what you think. If you wish to send a request, put it in the comments or send me a private message. It can be any kind of love song; just be mindful of excessive crude language. And remember to stay healthy!

Got to fly! ;)
