After leaving the BAU Jace was offered a job at the CIA leading his own unit which he had always wanted to do even though he loved working at the BAU alongside his family and his wife who he had just reconnected with. He had been working undercover for one case after another which meant he often didn't get see to Emily which hurt there relationship.

But when finishing up a case he receives a phone call from his wife asking for help on a case he returns back home but when they find the unsub and finish up the case he doesn't know if he wants to go back to working at the CIA because he and Emily were good. He was good if he left that he and Emily might end up getting divorced again and there relationship would finish for good and Emily is more important for him than his job.
