BEAUTIFUL. A word that Josh would use to state his current situation. Not all situations were bad. This, in fact, was a very happy moment for Bassett.

Laid beside him was a sleeping August. Her album dropped and he felt the wave of success that would hit her.

It was stretch, at least for August it was, for her to nominated for any awards such as a Grammy. Yeah, she had won awards for BOYSHIT and the success of that song had been the reason her team wanted her to release and album as soon as possible, but a Grammy? Think again.

Josh gently raked his fingers through August's hair as she slept soundly next to him. He'd been scrolling on Twitter (an app he absolutely hated but tended to hop on) looking at what people had been saying about August and her album. I mean, her album was trending at number four right now, that was a pretty big thing for Twitter.

Mainly positivity with a few sneaks of hate, but overall... it was looking pretty golden for August.

There was a small knock on the door and Angelina poked her head inside, a small smile on her face, "Oh! When did you get here? We tried staying up for you."

"Late last night." He answered.

"Oh... Well, we're heading to the store to get everything for the... thing. Do you need anything?"

"I'm good."

This "thing" was actually a party for August. She thought she was celebrating alone. Like hell she was. Josh had organized this party for her since she pitched the idea of an album to him.

Everyone that she knew had been invited and it was going to one of the best album release parties that anyone had even been to.

"Okay, we'll be back then. Remember, everything will be ready at six."

Josh nodded and Angelina left the two alone again... only to pop her head back inside.

"You know, you're really good to her." Angelina smiled, "Like, I've never seen her happier. So, thanks. Blessing in disguise you could say."

Angelina didn't wait for him to respond as she ran back downstairs and out the door with Jacob and Olivia in tow.

It was true through. It was a mutual feeling between Josh and August. They were both utterly in love with each other it was almost sickening.

But that's what they wanted. They wanted to portray their relationship as so sickly sweet that it made people almost hate them for it. A strange tactic but they honestly didn't care.

A FEW hours had pass and Josh drove himself and August in his little Honda to the party venue. August had been preoccupied by Twitter and what everyone was saying about her album. It was a lot for her to take it. Some love here and there, hate else wherever, but she didn't see hate for Birthday Cake and that's all that really mattered to her.

Josh hadn't told her where they were off to, but mentioned that it was something that he'd planned for her, so she didn't question it any further.

They finally pulled into what seemed to be an empty venue parking lot. August furrowed her brows at the sight and turned to face Josh.

"Is this the end?" She asked, "You're gonna kill me the day my album drops?"

"Of course." He joked, "I dragged you always the way out of the house just to kill you in a parking lot. Just get out and let me show you."

August kept her brows furrowed as she stepped out of the car and Josh soon joined her side, lacing their hands together as he lead her to the building.

It was pitch black inside and once he flipped the light switch on a plethora of "surprise!" had rang out throughout the room.

Angelina was the first to run up to August, giving her the tightest hug imaginable and smiled, "Surprise party!"

Once August granted thanks, Josh pulled her away and gestured towards a chair with a purple ribbon tied to it.

August left Josh's side and walked over to the chair.

Purple was her mother's favorite color. The fact that Josh left a seat for her mother. Oh, Joshua Bassett was a saint that could never, ever be taken from August Gomez.

IT HAD been extremely late when August and her small group returned home. Everyone had been sleeping in their respective spots and August stood in her kitchen with a single cupcake she took from the party and place a candle on it, lighting it and sitting down in front of it.

"Josh saved you a seat." August smiled softly, "I don't think anyone really expects that from someone. I didn't ask him to, I didn't even know about the party. Which, by the way was a plus. I've met so many people that I've talked to online and everyone from the show was there. It's just... what did I do to deserve that, you know?"

August sat in silence for a moment before continuing, "Everything happens for a reason I suppose." She sat upright and blew the candle out.

She threw the candle out and placed the cupcake in a plastic tin to eat later.

She soon heard footsteps coming down from the stairs and once she turned she saw Josh standing there in his sleepwear.

"Hey. You comin' up?"

August smiled up at him, meeting him at the stairs, "Thanks for waitin' up and for the party."

"Anything for you, Gus. You know that."

Everything happens for a reason and honestly, if Josh and August hadn't met that day or if August hadn't gotten the part as Shiloh things would have been very, very different for everyone.
