Well, Pearl's magic is...fancy healing magic. It's a sub-type. And it requires the user to touch the injured person in order to heal. So "feel."

     Also I guess I didn't make it all too clear except in the last few lines of Learning & Forgetting, but Pearl's mother isn't the best. She's...condescending, and a bit of a jerk. However, having a little bit of an uptight jerk for a mother is better than a second parent who doesn't give a sh**. So...
     Basically, finding a second family she could go to helped heal the scars on her heart from her family. That's pretty much it.
