Dixie

"He doesn't even know I exist, Kate." She says to her new best friend, sighing. She had just moved here less than a month ago, she missed her home but relished in her new one. Anytime you transfer schools in the middle of senior year, it's hard. But she had seen him and was curious about him.
"Honestly I don't know what you see in him. Yeah, he's hot but he's... Too quiet. You're new, you could go for anyone else, there's plenty of free boys here. Why settle for him?"
It was a good question. Why not a guy on the football team, or one that always said hi when she passed by? Why did she choose him, the guy with the dangerous aura and mysterious eyes?
Because he's different. She didn't want someone who would treat her the way they would treat anyone else. She wanted to feel special, to know that she's the only one in their eyes. Maybe that was selfish, but she didn't care.
She shrugs at her friend. She doesn't have to answer her questions to why she admires him, or why she's interested in him. She's not on trial here.
Her friend sighs. "Whatever Dixie. It's your social life suicide."
Dixie gets up and walk away, towards her class. As she's about to open the door, the door swings open, knocking her down, scattering her books everywhere and leaving what's sure to be a serious concussion tomorrow.
"Jesus!" Dixie exclaims, immediately grabbing her head which is now throbbing in pain.
"You should watch where you're going!" Is the first thing that comes out of her assaulters mouth. Not an "I'm sorry" or an "Are you okay?" or an "Do you need some help?", no, this asshole has the nerve to tell her to watch where she's going when they're the one who hit her with a door.
"You just hit me with the fucking door and that's all you have to say?" She says, now taking the time to look at who recklessly attacked her.
When she sees who it is, suddenly she's more focused on the person who hit her rather than her possibly concussed self.
Noah Beck has just hit her with a door.
Surprisingly, as she's awkwardly staring at him and not saying anything, he holds his hand out for her to take to help her up. She takes it and wobbles a little bit, and he grabs her waist to steady her. Once she's leaning up against the lockers, he lets her go and picks up her books.
"Look, I'm sorry that you didn't see me opening the door." He finishes picking up her books, after mumbling that backhanded apology. "You don't look okay, you should probably go to the nurse."
Dixie doesn't quite know what to make of this, this certainly isn't the way she wanted them to first interact, in fact she hadn't thought about them ever interacting. And now that he's actually taking to her, despite his apparent annoyance at having to deal with her.
She rolls her eyes. "Thanks captain obvious." She grabs her books out of her hands and attempts to make her way to the nurse, but finds herself nearly tipping over and ending up back on the ground again.
Suddenly behind her, Noah grabs her again before she can fall over. "Jesus. I swear if you continue on the path you're going, you're going to have a lot more than a headache." He loops her arm around his neck and helps her balance herself.
He's silent as they walk to the nurses office. Dixie doesn't want to say anything in fear and intimidation of him, she already feels kind of awkward since her arm is around his shoulders and he's practically carrying her.
They finally reach the office, and he sets her down on the bench in the waiting room and goes to talk to the assistant.
Once he's done explaining what happened, he comes over to sit next to her on the bench, still looking slightly inconvenienced.
"You didn't have to help me." She says, seeing how much he really doesn't want to be here. Dixie looks at him, examining his features a little more closely this time. She knows she's checking him out, and he probably knows too but it's hard not to check him out.
His dark black hair contrasts to the paleness of his skin. His jawline is cut sharply, his entire body is covered in muscle because of his endless days of working out and playing soccer. He's just wearing a simple black t-shirt and dark jeans, but it looks superhumanly good on him. But by far the most obvious and noticeable feature is clearly his eyes.
He clenches his jaw. "Is that really what you think of me?" He moves his eyes to hers, and she can't force herself to look away.
"You clearly don't want to be here anyways."
"So that means I'm just going to leave you there while you're in pain?" He mutters, looking away. "Thanks for sharing your opinion of me so clearly."
Dixie looks away also, feeling that she's somehow offended him. But why should he care what she thinks? He's Noah Beck. She's just the new girl
The nurse comes out of her office. "Dixie? You can come on in."
Dixie stands up, suddenly gathering her balance and manages to walk into the office, stealing one last glance at Noah, who is now looking at her as she walks into the office. They lock eyes, and this time Dixie manages to pull away and into the office.
When she comes out, after being diagnosed with yes, a concussion, he's gone.
