Feathers For Your Thoughts

Stevie was sitting on the floor, legs spread out with all the jewelry supplies in a case, feathers spread out around her of all colors and a curious but concentrated expression on her face.

"I'm over it today, I'm going home!" Christine shouts, stomping past the John and Mick.

"You cant go, we have things to do! We need you!" Mick yells back. Christine huffs and plops down on the floor by Stevie.

"Shit day?" Stevie asks.

"What else is new?" Christine says.

"Me too"

"What are you doing?"

"Making feather earrings. Wanna make yourself a pair? Feathers for your thoughts..."

"I couldn't concentrate. I don't even know how"

"I can show you. It's peaceful. It helps you focus and not think so much."

"I guess I could give it a shot. Ran out of wine" Christine says with a laugh.

"Well alright. Pick any colors you want." Stevie says, picking up some feathers from the floor and showing them to her friend. There were seemingly millions of all different sizes, lengths and color variations.

"Maybe blue and green." Chris says.

"So pretty" Stevie compliments and the tall blonde smiles. "Okay so just bunch them up, arrange them how you want. You can wrap them with wire or you can just take this metal bead and use the piers to clamp it closed. It's really easy"

"I think I might use the bead. Squeezing the life out of something is exactly what I feel like doing right now" Christine says and Stevie starts giggling. "It's true!"

"That's what's so funny!"

"Alright, alright. What next?"

"So after you've gathered them up, put the bead over the ends, put the eye pin down there and squeeze the life out of it." Stevie instructs, helping Chris get all the feathers situated, the teeny tiny bead over the top then hands her the mini pliers. "Great!"

"They are pretty, aren't they?"

"Beautiful, Chrissy. Now all you have to you is put the little fish hook on and you're good to go"

"That's it?"

"Yep, that's it"

"Hmm...that's not too hard, is it? Kind of fun really"

"It is. It's very fun. Would you like to make more?"

"Can I?"

"Of course. You're more than welcome to"

"Thank you"

"No problem. I like to share"

"No, I mean for calming me down. The boys drive me absolutely nuts"

"Me too. This keeps me from killing Lindsey" Stevie says in a whispers and the girls burst into fits of giggles.

"What are you guys doing?" John asks, looking over his shoulder.

"Nothing" Christine says.

"Oh no, Stevie's tricked you into doing hippie crafts" Lindsey says.

"You had no problem with my 'hippie crafts' when I was hand sewing moons and stars on your jeans"

Lindsey immediately shuts up and sits back down, making everyone laugh.

"They look nice" Mick says, admiring them.

"We could make you some" Chris says.

"I don't think it will go" he says, motioning to his outfit.

"I've seen you wear women's panties, cheerleading outfits, skirts, dresses..." John says, remembering all the cross-dressing times of the not so distant past. "I think you'd be fine to wear a little feather earring"

"Haven't got pierced ears, mate"

"I'll have to make you a clip on one, then" Stevie tells him.

"Alright fine, but it better not take me off the market to the ladies"

"You're got a lady, remember?"

"Okay, enough teaming up on me." Mick says, throwing up his hands.

"Not such a bad day after all" Chris says.

"Nope, not at all" Stevie agrees.

Christine gives her a hug, an arm around her shoulders. "I'm so glad to have another girl around" she tells her.

"I'm glad to be around" Stevie says and Christine laughs. "If it weren't for Lindsey..."

"I'd like to think we still would have been friends eventually"

"Me too" Stevie smiles at her friend then goes back to playing with the feathers, choosing new ones and showing Christine the wire wrapping way of making them. Thankfully, the day went peacefully on from there, sharing stories and laughing.
