20. Homecomings
"He can't have been here more than a few hours." Steve says as the family of four walk up to the entrance of the cave and seeing the metal doors opened. The men take in their surroundings, making sure no one followed them as they step through the doors.
"Long enough to wake them up." Bucky points out. He ushers his wife behind him as they walk through the corridor. The two assassins of the family poise their rifles, ready to take aim if needed. They pass by rooms that are covered in dust and bad memories. Becca had only been here once. And she only remembers the feel of terror within her body. The family reaches an elevator soon after entering the cave and they ride it down to it's exit. Becca glances at her mother, watching her mess with her repulser gloves, the gloves Tony had made special for their mom.
The elevator jerks to a halt when they reach the end of it's cord, the doors open automatically and Steve bends down to lift the secondary door. Bucky steps out first with his rifle raised, Becca's uncle follows second with his shield gripped firmly in his hand. Mary is third to leave the elevator, her hands raised and her repulsers on as she steps out behind her brother. Becca is last, her rifle raised just like her father has his own. They were trained by the same people, the same evil men and women. When they reach a stairway, the elevator creaks behind them. The family launches themselves into defensive positions, Bucky guides Mary behind him as she raises her repulsers on either side of his head. Steve is perched in front of his brother in law and sister with his shield raised. Becca in front of her uncle, on her knees as she holds her rifle high, aiming it at the elevator doors. The elevator creaks once more, the family preparing themselves for the fight they were waiting for. But the person that walks through the elevator doors is not the assassins or the doctor.
It's Tony.
Becca moves to lowers her rifle but her uncle stops her, shaking his head when she looks up at him. "But, it's Buddy." She mumbles. Tony steps forward more and his face mask lifts and the helmet retracts around his head as he continues to walk towards the family.
"You seem a little defensive." The brother of Becca quips to his mom's family.
Steve and Becca step towards Tony to meet him half way while Bucky and Mary stay behind on the stairway. "It's been a long day." The uncle replies.
"At ease solider, i'm not currently after you." Tony states, trying to get his friend and teammate to lower his shield. When Becca walks closer to her brother, he smiles softly, "Hi little miss." He greets her, the two hadn't properly caught up. Things happened that divided the siblings, and it broke both of their hearts to see the other on the opposing side.
"Then why are you here?" Steve asks confusedly.
"Could be your story's not so crazy." Tony comments as Becca walks beside her brother, taking his armored hand into her own. The older brother smiles at his sister, leaning towards her and kissing the side of her head in return.
Becca notices her uncle's hesitancy as he watches his niece and friend. He had just tried to arrest them and take them to Secretary Ross only hours prior. "Maybe." Steve agrees.
"Ross has no idea i'm here. I'd like to keep it that way. Otherwise, i gotta arrest myself." Tony explains, Becca watches his line of sight move up towards their mother who's still behind Bucky on the staircase.
"Well, that sounds like a lot of paperwork." Steve comments and Tony scoffs when Steve finally lowers his shield, "It's good to see you, Tony."
"You too, Cap." Tony says, then groans, looking over at his mom and her husband, "Hey, Manchurian Candidate, you're killing me here. There's a truce here, you can drop the stance." The son gripes to his mom's husband, Becca can hear her mother laughing under her breath as her and Bucky exchange words as he lowers his rifle.
"Hi, T." Mary greets her son when she and Bucky had descended from the stairs.
Tony pulls her into a hug and Becca cringes when Mary's back comes into contact with his armored arms. She yelps in pain, hissing slightly as Bucky holds onto her arms to help balance her. Tony's eyes are wide in fear and shock, "Mom? What's wrong?" He asks, looking her over, "Friday, scan Mom. Find out what's wrong." He instructs his AI quickly. Everything inside of him needed to know what was causing his mom pain. Becca can hear her brother's AI tell him about their mother's claw wounds down her back. Mary attempts to tell Tony that they're nothing to worry about, but everyone in the room can tell that's a bold face lie. She's in pain but doesn't want to hinder the mission for her family. When the family continues walking, Becca stays beside her brother as they walk towards an open room the teenager vaguely remembers. "I'm getting heat signatures." Tony states to the family.
"How many?" Mary asks.
"Uh.. one." Becca's brother replies. He's unsure of his surroundings, because they all know there should be more heat signatures surrounding them. When the family steps into the Cryochamber room, Mary gasps in shock when she sees the other winter soldiers, and one empty chamber. Bucky's chamber. Becca looked away as quickly as she could from them, not wanting to see the dead assassins anymore.
"Was this where you were kept?" Mary asks her husband and Bucky nods solemnly.
Steve steps forward in front of Mary and Becca as a voice appears in the speakers overhead, "If it's any comfort, they died in their sleep." An accented voice says and the family looks at the assassins in their chambers. All dead. Bullets in each of their skulls. Bucky raises his rifle and Becca follows in suit, raising her own. The voice in the speakers appears again, "Did you really think i wanted more of you?" He asks, and Becca knows who the voice belongs too. It's accented more than she remembered but it was still the doctor's voice.
"What the hell." Bucky curses. Their theory about the doctor wanting the assassins is completely disregarded now with them dead. The father motions his daughter over to him to make sure she's in his line of sight. Becca quickly walks to her father, her back against his as she walks backwards with ease, her rifle raised and ready to fire.
"What's happening?" Mary whispers, not understanding what's going on anymore.
"I'm grateful for them, though. They brought you here." The doctor speaks and a light appears over him. Tony, Steve and Mary raise their weapons. The uncle sends his shield into the window but it only bounces back to it's owner. "Please, Captain. The soviets built this chamber to withstand a launch blast of UR-100 rockets."
"I'm betting i could beat that." Tony shouts to the doctor.
"I'm sure you could, Mr. Stark. Given time." The doctor responds, and Becca can feel herself getting nervous, not knowing what's going on anymore. She didn't understand why they were here. "But they would never know why you came." He says behind the glass. Becca hears footsteps at the entrance of the room, someone had followed them or Tony here.
Steve and Mary walk up to the glass window, side by side. Steve was pissed and Mary was as well. "You killed innocent people in Vienna just to bring us here?" The Captain asks.
"What was the point of that?" Mary snaps, "The point of all of this. Getting us here. Why?" She demands the answers from the doctor.
Becca watches from the distance as the doctor steps closer to his side of the window, "I've thought about nothing else for over a year. I studied the two of you. I followed the two of you. But now that you're standing here. I just realized that there is a bit of green in the blue of your eyes, Captain. And your eyes are more brown than Hazel, Doctor." The doctor says to the siblings in a low voice but the daughter can still hear every word with her enhanced hearing. He chuckles in disbelief and amusement, "How nice to find a flaw."
"You're Sokovian." Mary says softly.
"Is that what this is about?" Steve asks.
"Sokovia was a failed state long before you blew it to hell. No. I'm here because i made a promise." The doctor explains.
The Rogers siblings exchange glances before looking back at the doctor, "You lost someone?" Mary asks.
"I lost everyone." The doctor snaps, "And so will you two." Becca hesitates when the talking stops, she can't see what's happening until a monitor beside her mother and uncle turns on. "An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again. But one that crumples from within? That's dead. Forever."
Becca and Tony walk side by side as the make their way towards the video monitor. Tony is in disbelief as he double takes what he's seeing. Mary is in shock, mumbling under her breath as Bucky stands behind her, holding onto one of her arms with his hand.
The sister looks at her brother, "What is this?" Becca asks Tony.
"I know that road. Mom and i know that road." Tony mumbles to his sister. He then looks over at the window where the doctor is seated, "What is this?" He questions. Becca reads the time stamp on the video, and her eyes widen in realization at what she and her family are being made to watch.
"Uncle Howie.." Becca whimpers out, she noticed his snow white hair, he was older than she remembered. But she loved him all the same, he was the father figure in her life from the moment she was born. He cared for her, loved on her daily. He showered her with gifts and special treatment when she would be at the Stark Labs as an infant. Everyone knew that if Rebecca Barnes was in the building, Howard Stark wasn't far behind. He doted on her as much as he could. Until that fateful night when she was ripped away from everything she had ever known. "I don't want to watch this." She whispers under her breath. She didn't want to see her father kill her godfather and his wife in cold blood as Winter. Her precious Papa, killing her brother's parents. Mary was on the verge of collapse as she watched the video play out. Tears stream down Becca's face when the video shows her father shooting out the camera. She knew her father killed Howard and Maria, she knew about it the day Arnim Zola showed them footage of Howard's death in the newspaper. She had pieced it together from there. But she never in her life thought she'd have to watch the footage of it.
When the video ends, Tony snaps his head up and he attempts to lunge for Bucky. But Mary steps in front of her husband to protect him from her son. Steve grips Tony's shoulder, "No, Tony." He pleads.
Tony jerks away from Steve, the look of despair and grief on Tony's face breaks his sister's heart. "Did you know?" He asks Steve.
Steve hesitates, briefly looking over at his sister and brother in law, at his niece. "I didn't know it was him." Becca recoils in her mind, looking at her uncle. The lie he had just told her brother, she couldn't figure out why her uncle would lie to Tony about something like this.
"Don't bullsh** me, Rogers." Tony snaps venomously. Becca was standing beside him not wanting to see her brother in this much pain.
Steve hesitates, only making the silence in the room more deafening as he looks at Tony. "Yes." He answers. Tony recoils away from Becca's Uncle, Mary attempts to step towards her son, but Bucky stops her. He held out his arm to block her path to Tony, he didn't want to see his wife get hurt in the fight he knew as about to happen. Becca watches her family begin to fight. She can't begin to describe the pain in her mind. But something pulls her away from the fighting. She heard footsteps behind her exiting the room. The doctor.
She knew someone had to follow him, to keep him here so he could be apprehended. So she decides to follow the doctor, leaving her family in a state she never had seen them in before. Not even the tarmac fight could match this level of pain and fighting her family was going through. When she steps into the hallway, she's met with the Black Panther, the King of Wakanda. "Mr. King." She mumbles, bowing her head in respect but T'Challa shakes his head, motioning her to raise her head.
"Please, do not give me formalities. I do not deserve them for the pain i've caused you and your family." T'Challa says and Becca hesitates, she now knew in her mind that T'Challa had heard everything. He had heard the doctor confess to everything, clearing all charges against her father. "Your father is an innocent man, just as mine was."
"And they both deserve justice." Becca says, "So let's not wait any longer and give them the justice they deserve." She states, and T'Challa nods in agreement. The two make their way outside into the snow. They both spot the doctor sitting in the snow, alone, holding a cell phone to his ear. The teenager could make out the voice of a woman on the other end, but she also knew that the doctor had lost everyone he loved when Ultron attacked. The woman on the other end of the phone was dead.
Becca shifted the rifle in her arms as T'Challa retracted his claws and removed his helmet, setting it down behind a rock as the two snuck up behind the doctor. "I almost killed the wrong man." T'Challa says to the doctor, announcing his presence to the man. "I almost caused a daughter to lose her father."
Becca clenches her jaw as the doctor responds, "Hardly an innocent one." He replies and Becca had had enough, she aims the barrel of his rifle close towards his head as her blue eyes narrow.
"He's my father." She snaps at the man as she lets tears fall in anger at the man who is tearing her family apart.
"This is all you wanted?" T'Challa asks, "To see them rip each other apart." He questions as he moves to stand beside the doctor.
"Tearing my family apart." Becca adds, she didn't have much to say. The only times she had ever held a man at gunpoint was when she was in the Red Room, she had swore to never do it again when she escaped. So despite her anger, she places her weapon beside T'Challa's mask, moving to stand on the opposite side of the doctor. T'Challa nods at her in approval. She could already tell this African King would be a dear friend to her if not become part of her family.
"My father lived outside the city. I thought we would be safe there." The doctor says, he shrugs his shoulders as he continues, "My son was excited. He could see the Iron Man from our car window. I told my wife, 'Don't worry. They're fighting in the city. We're miles from harm.' When the dust cleared, and the screaming stopped, it took me two days until i found their bodies." Becca knows this man has suffered immeasurable pain, but that did not justify what he had done to her family. By any means. "My father still holding my wife and son in his arms." He states, then hesitates as he fights back his own set of tears, glancing between the two people that stood beside him on either side, "And the Avengers? They went home." He says softly, "I knew i couldn't kill them. More powerful men than me have tried. But, if i could get them to kill each other.." The doctor trails off, then looks up at T'Challa, "I'm sorry about your father. He seemed a good man. With a dutiful son." He says, then looks at Becca, "I did not know you existed until my interrogation of your father. But by then it was too late to stop." He says to the teenager, as if it was suppose to make her feel better about the man before her.
Becca's blue eyes meet the brown ones of T'Challa as they exchange glances, the king had his jaw clenched as he decided what to do with the man before them that had caused all this pain. "Vengeance has consumed you. It's consuming her family." T'Challa says lowly, he shakes his head as he looks at Becca, "I am done letting it consume me." He says.
Becca looks at the man, "Justice will come soon enough." She says.
The man scoffs, "Tell that to the dead." He says as he raises his gun to his chin, T'Challa dives behind the man. His gloved hand coming between the barrel of the gun and the doctor's chin as he pulls the trigger.
Becca then moves quickly behind the man, her arms wrapping in a sleeper hold around the doctor's neck, smirking slightly as T'Challa speaks her thoughts, "The living are not done with you, yet." He says.
When the doctor is unconscious, she looks up at the king, "My family.."
"Will come with me to my nation. They will be safe there, i will ensure it." T'Challa replies. "After what has happened, they need to feel safe. You do as well." He says, he wanted to make sure the family he had helped destroy is taken care of. It was partially his fault this had all happened. He was good friends with the teenager's mother, he wanted to do right by her to make amends.
Two days later
Becca peers over her Uncle Steve's shoulder as he writes something. The family had settled in Wakanda only two days ago, but Steve knew he needed to get Sam and the rest out of the Raft before he did anything else. So there he sat with a Fedex box on the table beside him with a burner phone inside with his number. "What're you doing, Uncle Steve?" She asks him curiously. He had called her into his room in the Wakandan palace that they were all staying in now thanks to TChalla's generosity.
"Writing your brother a letter." Steve states as he sets the pen down, "He deserves to know that even though we aren't on the side anymore, i'll still be there for him. He's your family." He explains to his niece, "You get everything i asked for from Shuri?" He asks.
Becca nods, smiling softly. In the two days they were there in Wakanda, Shuri and Becca had become fast friends. The two bonding over certain things and the fact that Shuri had someone her age, to talk to. The Princess of Wakanda also enjoyed the fact that Becca was still learning about the world and the things inside that lived in the world and were the normal. "Read it out loud for me?" Becca asked her uncle and Steve chuckled. The events that transpired while Becca was apprehending Zemo ended up with her uncle to give up his shield to Tony. Essentially giving up his title of Captain America.
"Alright." Steve says, then holds out the letter and begins to read. "Tony, i'm glad you're back at the compound. I don't like the idea of you rattling around a mansion by yourself, and i know Mary and Becca don't either. We all need family, i'm sorry i took yours from you. But the Avengers are yours. Maybe more so than mine. I've been on my own with Mary since i was eighteen and she was sixteen. I never really fit in anywhere, even in the Army. Mary was my only source of belonging. My faith's in people, i guess. Individuals. And i'm happy to say that, for the most part, they haven't let me down. Which is why i can't let them down either. Locks can be replaced, but maybe they shouldn't. I know i hurt you, Tony. I guess i thought by not telling you about your parents, i was sparing you, but i can see now that I was really sparing myself. And i'm sorry. Hopefully one day you can understand. I wish we agreed on the Accords. I really do, and i know Mary does as well. Becca will need you when she comes home. She depends on you just as much if not more than she depends on me. You're her big brother. So from one big brother to another, look out for your little sister. I know you're doing what you believe in, and that's all any of us can do. That's all any of us should. So no matter what. I promise you, if you need us, if you need me, i'll be there." The uncle finishes.
Becca claps briefly, smiling at her Uncle, "I think Buddy will like that." She says, then grabs her duffle bag. "Let's go save Uncle Sam and everyone." She says as she tosses her uncle his own duffle bad. The uncle chuckles, folding up the letter and putting it in the box, sealing it. He hands it to T'Challa as he and Becca walk onto the aircraft the King had given them to use for the mission.
When they reach the Raft, Becca and her uncle easily took out the guards and cameras. Without his shield, Steve had to rely on his fighting skills more than he had to in his life. Becca had helped him adjust, giving her uncle pointers on how to move in the shadows like she was trained, and it came in handy. The niece swiped the key card to get into the cells as Steve walked out of the shadows, smiling at Sam who was standing in front of them. Becca appeared in front of her Uncle's cell with the key card in hand as she swipes it, the cell door unlocking as she smirks at her uncles, "This is my area of expertise now." She says, earning a smirk from her Uncle Steve and a chuckle from her Uncle Sam. "Watch and learn."
Becca stood beside her uncle Steve as her mother places a syringe down beside her on a tray as she finished prepping her husband for his cryosleep. She places the black cuff on Bucky's left shoulder and pats it once it's in place. Becca smiles when her father grasps Mary's hand, bringing her hand to his lips and gently kissing them. "You sure about this?" Steve asks his brother in law.
Bucky nods slowly, "I can't trust my own mind." He says. Becca nods slowly, understanding her father. She was there when Zemo had unleashed the Winter Solider with the trigger words. They were still there in his mind. They needed to be removed. "So until they can figure out how to get this stuff out of my head i think going back under is the best thing." Bucky explains. The father pulls his wife in between his knees from where he sat on the table, Mary now standing under her husband's head and he loosely wrapped his right arm around her neck. His eyes trail down to her flat stomach and his hand places itself protectively over her stomach, "For everybody."
Steve nods in understanding, then raises an eyebrow at his sister, "Mary?" He asks, not understanding what Bucky was talking about, everybody.
Becca's mother smiles softly as she glances up at her husband and Bucky looks down, his blue eyes meeting the hazel ones he adores. "I told him this morning that i'm pregnant." She says to her brother and daughter. Becca grins, rushing over to her parents.
"Mama, truly?" Becca asks quietly.
The expectant mother nods at her daughter, "I am, i found out when Shuri and her doctors help fix my back. I had no idea. But i know when it happened." Bucky chuckles as he pressing his lips to Mary's temple, smiling against her skin.
Steve smirks knowingly at the couple, then smiles, "That'll be exciting." He says to his sister as he wraps his arms around her, pulling her from her husband's grasp. Then looks down at his sister, "But that means you're staying here, in Wakanda where T'Challa and the others here can keep you and the baby safe." He says.
Mary nods in agreement, "I understand, i'll stay here. This is the safest place on Earth." She points out, both men agree that Wakanda is the best place for anyone to be right now if they need to stay safe. And they're comforted to know that Mary will be in the best care while they're gone. Mary turns to looks at Becca, wrapping her arms around her daughter and kissing her forehead, "But you're going back to Queens." She says.
Becca's blue eyes widen in shock, how could she possibly go back after all that had happened. People everywhere knew who she really was now, there was no Sofia Rogers to go back to. "What? Mama, i can't-"
"You can and you are." Bucky states, drawing the attention of his daughter, "Despite people know who you really are now, Stark wont let anything happen to you. You'll be safer in Queens, going back to school." He says, he felt odd putting his foot down like father normally would have too, but he knew Becca would be better off going back to Midtown, being with her friends and her boyfriend.
The daughter, sighs slowly, nodding as she picks at her nails, leaning into her mother's embrace, "But i don't want to see Benji, he was against us at the airport." She says softly.
Mary shakes her head, "He was there to keep you safe. True, it was misguided, but he was there for you. To keep you safe, because he loves you." She reminds her daughter.
The men glance at each other, not understanding what the mother and daughter were talking about. They knew Spider Man was at the airport, on Tony's side, and Becca knew him. But her boyfriend wasn't there to the best of their knowledge. "Did we miss something?" Steve asks.
Mary's eyes widen when she realizes that she and Becca both had let it slip that Peter was there at the tarmac fight. Becca looks at her mother, she hadn't expected for Peter's identity to be revealed to her father and uncle like this. But she was glad they knew now. "It was bound to come out sooner or later." Mary mutters to Becca, then turns to her husband and brother, "Becca's boyfriend is Peter Parker, you both knew that. But what you didn't know was that he's also Spider Man."
Steve's eyes widen in shock, "The kid from Queens that we fought on the tarmac is B's boyfriend?" He asks.
Bucky groans as he leans his head back, taking in the information. He had fought the kid in the terminal with Sam. Becca had told them that she knew him, but never revealed his identity. And now he knew why. He also realized that he had met his daughter's boyfriend, and he had kicked their asses. "I really want to give that kid a piece of my mind now." He gripes.
"But i still don't want to see him, Mama." Becca mumbles softly, she and Peter had left things between each other unsteady. She knew they were still together, but what would come out of everything that had happened at the tarmac would ultimately change their relationship. "I don't know what to say to him, or to anyone else." She whispers, she hadn't heard anything from her friends since her Aunt Peggy's funeral. That seemed so long ago when it was only less than two weeks ago.
Mary sighs, she understood her daughter's concerns but she also knew that her daughter, belonged in Queens. "I know, Baby. But you need to go back. And things will work out as they're meant to. You may have to answer a lot of questions when you go home, but you'll push through that."
"Will you come with me?"
Becca watches her mother hesitate, she had her answer already but she needed to hear it from her mother, "I can't, i gave up my alias as Elizabeth Bryne when you and your Pa were in the containment units. Well, actually you gave my alias up. But i don't really care at this point. It was time people knew the truth anyways."
Steve steps up behind his niece, his hands resting on her shoulders, "We're outside the law now, B." He reminds her, "But you might not be because of your relationship with Tony. He wouldn't let anything happen to you. Remember in the letter? I asked him to look out for you."
Becca nods, remembering the letter, then looks up at her uncle, "Then what's going to happen to Captain America and Starlight?" She asks her mother and uncle.
The Rogers siblings glance at each other, "Captain America isn't me anymore. I can't be him and protect you all now." Steve answers, "Natasha as well, she has to go undercover because she helped us escape. And Sam.. but that's for us to figure out. You have to just continue being you."
"But what if the bad guys come after me? The governments don't like us now." Becca asks, looking at her family.
Mary glances at her husband, "Then i'll have to step in and talk to Tony is he doesn't already know about it. He's your best option at staying safe."
Becca nods, then walks out of her Uncle's arms and over to her father. She wraps her arms around his torso, snuggling her face into his chest, "I love you, Papa." She mumbles, "We'll stay safe here while you're asleep so you can come back and not need to worry about us." She states with a smile on her lips as she looks up at her father. His own smile staring back at her as he moves her chocolate brown hair from her eyes. He kisses her forehead as he steps off the table he was sitting on.
The mother walks over to her husband, standing up on her toes as she presses her lips to his own. When they break apart the couple leans their foreheads against each other. "Come back to me in one piece." Mary states softly, a wide smile on her lips, "I need my husband." She teases quietly, "And this baby needs his or her father."
Becca watches her as Bucky squats down to face his wife's stomach. He lays his hand on her stomach gently as he presses his lips to the fabric of her shirt over her invisible baby bump. "моя любовь к тебе бесконечна, мой драгоценный малыш." My love for you is endless, my precious little one. Bucky whispers to Mary's stomach before he stands back up and walks over to the cryochamber the Wakandan doctors had made for him.
Becca, her mother and uncle watch as the door slides up around Becca's father, sealing in it's place. The gas entering the chamber and they watch as Bucky closes his eyes, going to sleep. Becca only hopes her father can find peace.
When the now family of three step out of the lab, into a large room with a wall made of windows, overlooking the forests of Wakanda, they're met by T'Challa. Steve stands, looking out the windows with his hands in his pockets as Mary and Becca stand on either side of him, T'Challa walking up beside his friends. The King looks down at his oldest friend, Becca's mother.
"If you say you're sorry one more time, T'Challa, i'm gonna lose it. I've already accepted your apology." Mary states jokingly before the King says anything, causing the man to chuckle at his friend. "But thank you for this."
T'Challa nods slowly, looking at his friend, "Your husband and my father, they were both victims. If i can help one of them find peace.." The King trails off.
"You know, if they find out he's here they'll come for him. For us." Steve points out, looking over his sister's head and at the man he can call his ally and friend now.
Becca notices a slight smirk on T'Challa's face as he looks out the widows, "Let them try." He states proudly.
Becca sat on her bed in her room of the Wakandan palace, she was dressed in clothes Shuri had found that would fit her. So there she sat in sweatpants and a tank top with Xhosa language on the front, her hair plaited just as her Uncle Thor had taught her as she pressed call on her new laptop, gifted to her by Shuri. She was nervous as it rang, she didn't know if it would connect to the person she was trying to call.
She sat there, biting her nails when the voice of the man she loved and his face appeared on the screen in front of her. "Don't bite your nails, Fia." Peter teases, "You only do that when you're nervous about something."
Becca sighs, smiling softly as she looked at her Peter. Her Benji on the screen in front of her, "You know me too well." She mumbles. She had missed him more than she would ever know.
"Are you okay? Where are you calling from?" Peter asked, a small smile on his lips as he watched his girlfriend on the screen. He had missed her deeply, he as sad from what happened between them in Germany, and he wanted to make it up to his girlfriend but he had no idea where she was.
"I'm perfectly fine. I'm being taken care of really well here." Becca answers, "I'm actually in Wakanda." She says softly, "And i can tell you this because we're on a secure network." She adds, "The Princess here is nice and a genius with technology." Becca explains, holding up her Kimoyo bead bracelet for Peter to see. "I can talk to anyone who has these in Wakanda. So i can talk to Mama."
Peter nods, smiling at his girlfriend, he was amazed at the things she was telling him. All his life he was taught in school that Wakanda was a third world country that farmed and had textiles. But Becca was telling him there was more to the story. "That's cool." He says, then watches her. "I miss you."
Becca smiles softly, "I miss you too." She says quietly, "So much." She adds as she leans back in her bed, taking the laptop with her, "I like it here, but my home is with you."
"But what about your parents? Your uncle?"
"They have their own lives. Especially with the baby on the way."
"Baby?"
"Mhmm, Mama's expecting a baby. She told us earlier today." Becca says, smiling wide.
Peter's eyes widen, then he breaks out into a big smile, "You're gonna be a big sister."
"I already am, but i've never had to be a big sister." Becca reminds her boyfriend, and Peter nods as he remembers being told about Winnie, Becca's sister that was born in 2015 but was a stillborn. He had secretly paid the baby girl a visit at her grave site in Brooklyn after Becca had left for London. He wanted to meet the Barnes daughter that never had a chance to make a name for herself in the cruel world they all lived in.
"Right." He mutters, smiling softly. "MJ, Ned and Harry miss you as well."
Becca hesitates, looking over, at her boyfriend, "They do?" She asks in disbelief, she was sure that Peter would be her only friend and source of comfort when she returned to Queens. But to hear that she had friends waiting for her, was something that made her want to go home all the more quickly.
"Yeah, they've been defending you at school. But.." Peter trails off, scratching the back of his neck, "Michelle isn't friends with us anymore. She's kind of turned into the loner she was before our group became a group." He says. Becca had expected this reaction from her friends, but was still sad to hear that Michelle wasn't in their group anymore. "So what're you doing now?"
Becca smiles softly, "I've been packing my things." She says.
"Packing? Why? Aren't you staying there now?" Peter asks curiously.
"Mama and Papa agreed that i shouldn't stay here in Wakanda." Becca explains, smiling softly, "So i'm coming home."
"What?" Peter asked in disbelief.
"I'm coming home to you."
Part 2 is complete! That only took forever. Becca's been through a lot in this part and the consequences of everything that happened in Civil War will be explored in Part 3. Which is something i'm looking forward to! Part 3 is probably something that you all know by now. But i want to announce it anyway!
Part 3 is Spider Man: Homecoming! Kind of fitting since Becca is coming home to Queens and Peter.
Things will obviously be different in Homecoming than the movie cause.. well.. Peter was single in the movie and in my books, he isn't. SO there's that. So the whole Liz thing will have to changed in some way, i honestly don't know how just yet. I won't be posting any chapters of Part 3 until Endless's Part 3 is complete. So i'll be taking a break from writing for a little while and then the next time i update any of my books, it'll either be in Endless or Faultless(One Shots). I have one one shot planned in Faultless that i want to get out soon and then the chapters in Endless. So that's basically my writing schedule.
Thank you for reading my books, every comment and vote means the world to me! So thank you for them! They brighten up my day so much and really motivate me to write for you guys as much as myself. Because these books literally were something i just wanted to put out there for my own self interest. Seeing what would this be like. But you guys have made this so much more than i ever imagined!
