I.E.D

Whilst Scott and I were chasing Liam around the woods last night, Lydia managed to crack a code to a supernatural hitlist with names of all the supernaturals of Beacon Hills on it. She's been at the lakehouse all weekend trying to decode the rest of it. Scott, Stiles and I are now going to Sheriff Stilinkski to inform him about our latest discovery.

"It's a deadpool. A hitlist of supernatural creatures" I said.

"At least part of it. The rest still needs to be decoded" Scott explained as they huddled around Sheriff Stilinkski's desk. Scott laid the paper out and Sheriff's eyes scanned it.

"Who found this list?" he asked.

"Lydia" Stiles answered.

"How?" he questioned.

"She wrote it. Actually she transcribed it without knowing"

"Banshee?"

Stiles nodded. "Banshee"

"Beautiful" he shook his head and looked at the list once more.
"All right, what are all these numbers next to the names?"

"We're getting to that" I spoke up. "First you need to know that the list was broken by a cipher key"

"Wait. You mean like a keyword?"

I bit my lip nervously and looked at Stiles."It's actually a name" Stiles said. We both looked at Scott.

"Allison"

"Her name broke a third of the list" I said quietly.

"And now we think there's two other cipher keys" Scott said, equally as quiet. Allison is a tough subject for all of us still.

"Which will give us the rest of the names" Sheriff finished. We nodded. "Okay. So how do we get these two other cipher keys?" He asked.

"Same way we got the code. Lydia" Stiles replied.

"She's been at the Lakehouse all weekend trying to find the other two key words" Scott said.

Sheriff Stilinkski looked through the gruesome pictures of Demarco and Carrie, the latest victims of the benefactor. "So you didn't know about Demarco and Carrie? And what about the other two names on the list. Kaleen Bettcher and Elias Town, are they werewolves too?" He asked.

"I don't know" Scott said. "But Deaton said the Nemeton would draw supernatural creatures here"

"Here being Beacon Hills or Beacon County?" Sheriff questioned. "The population of Beacon Hills is just under thirty thousand" I said.

"And dropping" Stiles commented. I gave him a glare.

"But if we're talking about Beacon County then we're looking closer to five hundred thousand" Sheriff Stilinkski finished. "Look, how many werewolves, banshees, kitsunes, and whatever the hell else is out there, are there?" We all shared a look. "And what if the next cipher key unlocks not only 12 names but 100?" he continued.

"We don't think there's that many. There's a limit" Stiles interrupted.

"Because of the numbers. We think once we decode all of the names, the numbers will add up to 117" Scott explained.

"117 what?" Sheriff queried.

"Million" I said, picking up a pen and writing a K or an M next to each name.

"Stolen from the Hale vault, anf is being used to finance these murders" Stiles said.

"Someone who wants every supernatural in Beacon hills dead" I added.

"So" The sheriff began. "The coded list goes out and these professional assassins get the list-"

"And the cipher key" Stiles interrupted.

"-And then they go after the names on the list. They being killers with no mouths, tomahawks and thermo-cut wires that can take your head off"

"Pretty much" I shrugged.

Stiles looked down at Carrie's pictures. "What's this mark?" he asked.

"We're not sure yet, I'm still waiting on the ME's report" Stilinkski said. There's one other thing I don't get, how did the assassins know Demarco was going to be at the Lakehouse?"

"Everyone knows he delivers kegs to teenagers for a little extra cash" Stiles explained.

"So whoever ordered that keg killed Demarco?"

"It was someone at the party" Stiles looked at me for confirmation. I nodded.

"A student"

~

Scott had instructed me to keep an eye on Liam so I followed him and Mason to the gym in the morning. Liam was lifting weights. He looked pretty hot actually so I wasn't really complaining.

"You know how I keep asking Garrett to give me back my hoodie" Mason said. Liam didn't even look like he was listening.

"Yeah" he said sitting up. He was obviously finiding that amount of weight too easy.

"Well I remembered you said he lived on that housing development on Spaulding so I went there and guess what... that housing development is still in development" he said. I frowned. Mason looked like he was waiting for a reaction from Liam but he was to preocupied with adding more weights.

"So?"

"So unless this dude lives in some kind of backhoe, there's something he's not telling us" he said.

A flashback from the party came to me. Garrett was the one who paid for the keg.

"And there's this other dude man, he's been acting really strange, running to school for no reason, disappearing at parties. Used to be my bestfriend" he said. Liam was just about to lift a massive amount of weight that would probably blow his cover. I was about to say something but Mason spoke again."And apparently he's on steroids" I chuckled a bit.

That got Liams attention. "What?"

"You're not actually going to try and lift that, are you?" he asked. Liam looked and suddenly realised how much he had on there. He looked at me and I shook my head.

"Are you all right? I mean is it about the game tonight?" Mason asked.

Liam shook his head. "I'm fine. It's just a scrimmage" he shrugged. Oh god, he doesn't know.

Mason and I exchanged a worried look. "You know who you're playing right?"

"Yeah. I mean no. I must have missed the announcement" he said.

"Liam" I sat closer. "It's your old school, Devenford Prep"

His eyes snapped up in shock. He looked nervous, angry. And that meant a rise in heartrate. Which meant shifting. My eyes widened and I jumped up. He seemed to realise and stood up too.

"I need to get changed" he said running out of the gym, me following behind.

~

Liam threw his gym bag onto the floor. He looked angry, like he could snap at any moment. "Liam, relax" I put my hand on his shoulder.

"You don't understand! What I did- what I did to that car, they hate me" he said.

"So what? It's going to be fine tonight, you'll be fine" I reassured.

He seemed to calm down a little and he headed to his locker. He paused and then quickly looked around. "What the hell!" I frowned.
"Where's my stick?" We both looked up when we heard the sound of something scraping across the lockers. We proceeded to cautiously head towards the sound, my hand still on Liams shoulder. And guess who appeared out of the shadows, Derek Hale.

"You have got to be kidding me" I muttered.

"Nice to see you too Rebecca"

"I preferred you when you were a teenager" I said, crossing my arms.

"Shame" he shrugged. "This yours" he said to Liam, holding up his Lacrosse stick and twirling around. He then snapped it in half, making Liam and I wince. Then he threw it at our feet. I knew what he was doing. He was trying to get Liam mad. I went to step forward but Liam grabbed my hand. Dereks eyes flickered to us for a moment but then his gaze rested on Liam again. Liam's eyes glowed yellow and he pushed me away from him and ran at Derek, who smirked and grabbed him by the throat, pressing him against the lockers. Liam snarled and struggled against him.

"Derek stop!" I pleaded.

"Liam" Scotts voice echoed through the room.

Derek set Liam down. "You're right, he is angry" he commented. I scoffed, I can't believe Scott put Derek up to that.

"This one's yours" My brother said, tossing Liam his real Lacrosse stick. The school bell rang making me jump. "Get to class. Both of you"

Liam glared once more at Scott and Derek and I pushed him away before he did anyhing stupid.

~

It was lunch time and I knew Devenford prep would be arriving shortly. That meant an angry Liam. So I decided it would be best to find him before he mauled anyone to death. I rounded the corner and noticed Liam and Mason staring at a group of boys. I groaned and made my way over there.

Liam huffed and stormed over to the Devenford boys. "Brett!" he called.

"Here we go" I said wih a sigh. This isn't going to be good. "Liam" I warned, Mason and I trailing behind. I knew if he didn't keep his pulse under control he would shift.

"I just wanted to say" he struggled to say the words, like it took too much effort for them to come out of his mouth. "Have a good game" Well that was unexpected.

The boy, i'm guessing Brett, just laughed. "That's cute Liam, is that what they told you to say in anger management, apologize and everything is fine?" he said. "You demolished coaches car" he sneered.

"I paid for it" Liam mumbled.

"You're going to pay for it" I raised an eyebrow. "We're going to break you in half out there and it's going to be all your fault" Brett smirked.

I suddenly noticed blood coming from Liams hand. I muttered a string of profanities under my breath and quickly pushed Liam out of the way.
"Look asshole"

"It's Brett" he cocked his head.

"Do I look like I care?" I sassed. "Anyway, I just wanted to say, you're the ones who need to watch out tonight. We're gonna break you in half. I'll make sure of it" I threatened.

"Oh, yeah" another boy smirked, his eyes trailed down my body and I crossed my arms. "And what are you going to do about it sweetie" he teased.

I was about to launch myself forward and throw a punch but Scott and Stiles jumped in front of me.

"Hey, what's going on prep students!" Stiles faked a smile. "Welcome to our little public high school, how you doing? Stiles" He held his hand out but nobody shook it. "Thats a firm handshake you got there" If I wasn't so mad I would have probably laughed. "Uh, we're very excited for scrimmage tonight. But let's keep it clean all right? No rough stuff out there. All right, see you on the field" he smiled, him and Scott dragging Liam away.

"Hey princess" the same guy I went to punch earlier said. I turned around, curling my hands into fists. "It's cute you know, sticking up for your boyfriend-"

"He's not my boyfriend" I said through gritted teeth.

"Yeah whatever, we just wanted to say" he looked at Brett to finish, who did.

"Watch your back" I rolled my eyes and walked away.

I quickly ran into the boys locker room to see Stiles and Scott holding Liam under the shower. Liam looked pretty angry. And strong. The boys were struggling to hold him. I quickly made my way over.

"Okay, you calm yet?" Stiles asked. Liam snarled at him. "Guess not" he muttered.

As I was about to reach out and help the boys keep Liam under the water, Scott grabbed my arm.

"Get out of here. I don't want you hurt"

I shook my arm from his tight grasp and put a hand on Liams chest. A couple of seconds after I did that, his eyes turned back to his normal blue orbs and his claws and teeth disappeared. Stiles let out a sigh of relief.

"Rebecca needs to be here more often" he said, completely out of breath. I smirked slightly at my brother who's eyes were flitting between me and Liam.

"How did you do that?" he asked me.

"Do what?" I questioned quizzically. He shook his head, not answering my question. "The car you smashed, I thought it was your teachers" Scott said.

"It was, he was also my coach"

"What did he do?" I asked.

"He benched me for the entire season" Liam replied.

"What did you do?" Stiles questioned.

Liam sighed and avoided eye contact. "I got a couple of red cards"

"Just a couple?" Stiles said sarcastically. I glared at him.

"You gotta be honest with us, what else happened?" Scott said.

"Nothing! I got kicked out of school and they sent me to a psychologist for evaluation" he said.

"And what did they call it?" Scott asked.

Liam looked at the floor. "Intermittent Explosive Risorder"

"I.E.D?" Stiles exclaimed. "I.E.D, you are literally an I.E.D!"

"Stiles" I warned. This was obviously an uncomfortable subject.

"That's great. That's just great" Stiles muttered.

"Stiles!" I said even louder.

"You gave your powers to a walking time bomb" he said.

"Stiles that's enough!" I yelled. All three boys looked at me in shock.

"Did they give you anything?" I asked calmly.

"Risperdal, it's an antipsychotic" he said.

"Oh, this just gets better" Everyone ignored Stiles' snide comment.

"But I don't take it!" he proclaimed.

"Obviously!"

"One more time Stilinkski" I snapped.

"I can't play Lacrosse on it, it makes me too tired" he explained.

"Okay, I think you should bail out for the game, tell coach your leg's still hurting" Scott suggested.

"No, no!" he jumped up. "I can do this, especially if you're there" He looked at Scott and then at me.

"Liam it's not just about the game" My brother said. "We think whoever killed Demarco is on the team"

I gulped. My heart rate must have increased because both Scott and Liam looked at me.

"Who's Demarco?" Liam asked.
"The one who brought beer to the party, the guy who was beheaded. Remember?" Stiles answered.

"We think whoever ordered the keg killed Demarco" Scott said.

I bit my lip, hoping my heartbeat wouldn't betray me. However, Scott noticed something was up. Liam and I exchanged a look.

"What? Do you two know something" He asked.

I looked at Liam. "We don't know who ordered it" he said.

"But we know who paid for it"

~

Liam, Mason and I were all huddled near the bench before the game began. We were all looking at the other team, more specifically Brett.

"I don't care if he's a foot taller than me, I can take him" Liam said, determination in his voice.

Mason and I were looking over at Brett, me with a glare and Mason was just transfixed on him. When he realised Liam said something he turned back around.

"Yeah" he said, turning his attention back to Brett. Liam looked at me expectantly.

"What? Oh yeah sure, you've totally got-" I cut off as Brett took his shirt off. Sure this guy was a complete jerk but there wasn't any harm in looking. "-totally got this. Yeah" I mumbled.

"What do you think you're doing?" Liam proclaimed. I turned around immediately and whacked Mason on the head to get his attention.
"What? We're agreeing" he stuttered.

"Yeah we're being..." I trailed off.

"Agreeable" Mason finished, looking back to Brett.

"You think he's hot don't you" Liam accused.

"No! No. Not at all" Mason said quickly then turned back to Brett. "Yeah. Maybe a little" he said facing Liam again.

Liam bit his lip and I couldn't help but think how fit he looked when he did that. "He wants to destroy me"

"Mmm" I said dreamily, still staring at Liam. I then realised what I was doing. "I mean, you could definitely take him" I quickly corrected myself.
"Yeah, and then give him to me" Mason added.

We all looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"Just go out there and kick their smug, prep school asses" Mason said making Liam smile. They bro hugged and then Mason went to sit on the benches. I went to follow but Liam pulled me back. He went to say something but his attention focused on Scott who was talking to coach. Liam sighed.

"He wants me to sit out of the game" he said.

"Well I don't blame him" I said. Suddenly someone shouted over at us, making us both jump.

"Hey Liam, think fast!" Brett called. The next thing I know, a ball is hurtling towards me at a fast speed. I gasped and Liam's arm shot out in front of my face, grabbing the ball. Even he looked surpised.

"Oh he plays" I heard Coach say. The team started running past.

"Be careful okay, and I'm not just talking about Brett" I looked over at Garrett who was twirling his Lacrosse stick in his hands. He gave me a sly smile. Liams eyes followed my gaze. "How do you know for sure that it's him?"

"Believe me, I know"

"Liam! Let's go" Coach blew the whistle at him. He looked at me and nodded before running to join the team. Why do I have a bad feeling about this game?

Devenford Prep were winning, much to my disappointment. Scott and Brett were both hunched down, ready to scrape the ball up as quick as possible. Unfortunately, Brett got there first and I watched in horror as Liam ran towards him. Brett and some other massive guy both crashed into Liam and knocked him to the ground. Saying that Liam looked angry was an understatement. He threw off his helmet and gloves and Stiles and Scott ran over.

"Liam, I know you can hear me. He's not worth it. Calm down" I said quietly. I saw him look up at me just as Scott and Stiles pulled him back. Scott looked up at me too. He put his helmet back on without another word and I sighed in relief.

The referee blew the whistle and Stiles and a guy with an obscene amount of facial hair went up. It looked like Stiles was babbling, which must have distracted the player because Stiles scooped up the ball and it flew straight into Kira's net. Her eyes widened.

"Run Kira! Run, Kira, run!" I yelled standing up. She didn't move for a moment but then ran as fast as she could.

"Pass it! Kira, pass the ball!" Coach yelled. She obviously didn't hear and she took a shot and scored.
The whole crowd went wild with screams.

"Yukimura get over here!" Coach yelled. I climbed over the benches and gave her a hug. "Take a seat, you're benched for the rest of the game" Coach said.

"What? Why?" We both said in unison.

"You didn't pass"

"I had an open shot" she argued.

"The play was due to pass, this is a scrimmage, it's about teamwork Yukimura. So you're benched" He said.

I looked at Scott's face. He was worried. I was worried. "Coach she's one of our best players" I protested.

"Sorry McCall" he shrugged.

But someone needs to keep an eye on Liam and Garrett! I went to sit next to a disappointed Kira on the benches.

"Rebecca, I know this sounds ridiculous but you need to get on the field" She said.

"What?"

"You can play Lacrosse, I've seen you practise with Scott and Stiles"

"Scott would freak out. And anyway how would we convince coach?" She just smiled.

~

The referee blew the whistle and eveyone took a break. I climbed into a Lacrosse suit and put on Kira's helmet and gloves.

"What the hell are you doing?" Scott asked.

"Playing"

"Oh hell no you're not"

"You need someone to watch over Garrett. He won't touch me because I'm human" I explained.

"You're not playing" he said sternly.

"Scott I actually think it's a good idea" Stiles said.

"Who's side are you on!"

"She can distract Garrett better than Stiles would be able to" Kira said.

"No offence taken " Stiles muttered sarcastically.

"Scott let me do this" I said. He didn't have any choice because the referee blew the whistle again.

"McCall's, Stilinkski let's go!" Coach yelled. I grabbed my Lacrosse stick and ran onto the field and stood in front of Garrett.

"I didn't know you played Lacrosse?" he said.

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me" I said. Like how i'm about to kick your ass.

The whistle blew and Garrett sprinted forwards, me running behind. I'd managed to keep an eye on him until him and Liam charged at Brett, the three of them falling to the floor. There was a crunch and Liam and Brett lay on the ground in pain. I noticed Garrett stand up and a sharp object was pushed back into his stick. And then everything clicked into place.

I threw my helmet and ran over to Scott who was fixing Liam's arm. Glad I missed that. I put my hands on Liam's shoulders and looked him over. "Did he cut you! Did Garrett cut you?" I asked panicking.

"No! No, i'm fine" he said looking confused.

"That means he missed" I said quietly.

"Missed what?" Scott asked.

"It's Garrett. He had wolfsbane on the blade of his Lacrosse stick" I explained.

Scott turned to Liam. "It's you Liam, you're the one they're after" Scott said.

I looked at Garrett's satisfied smirk and wondered why he looked so smug. And then the pieces fit. I shook my head.

"No. He's after someone else"

¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤

"I talked to coach, I'm out for the rest of the game" Liam said. "What are you gonna do?" He looked between me and Scott.

"Something's still not right" I said.

"We're missing something" Scott added.

"GUYS!" Stiles came running over. "Lydia just broke anothef third of the list"

"Am I on it?" Liam asked.

"No but someone else is" Stiles said nervously. My eyes widened when I realised something. I was annoyed it took me this long to figure out.

"Brett" I said looking at Scott.
"It's Brett"
