Anchors

"Mom?" I asked sleepily from the top of the stairs. She turned around.

"Hey, what are you doing up this early?"

"Where are you going?" I asked, completely avoiding her question.

"I'm doing a few extra shifts at work. I'll be back this evening" she smiled.

"Okay" I said rubbing my eyes.

"Scott's here but he might be busy doing werewolf stuff later so you'll probably have the house to yourself. No boys okay" she said opening the front door. She then jumped back in surprise. I frowned in confusion until I saw Liam, who's hand was still in a fist, ready to knock on the door.

"Liam?" Me and another voice blurted in unison.

"Jesus christ" I said as Scott appeared behind me. "Don't do that" I hissed.

"Hi, Mrs McCall" Liam gave her a sweet innocent smile.

"Hi Liam" she smiled kinda unsurely. "Well, I gotta go. Stay safe kids" She stepped aside, letting Liam in, and then she left, closing the door behind her.

All three of us just stared at each other for a moment until I cursed under my breath. I was wearing my small pyjama shorts and a lacey tank top, which was pretty revealing. And there was a fifteen year old teenage werewolf staring at me. I offered Liam a weak smile and then ran into my room, closing the door behind me.

*Scott's P.O.V*

After Rebecca had disappeared into her room, I climbed down the stairs where Liam was stood. I walked into the kitchen, beckoning him to follow. Once we were in there I stopped and looked at him.

"So you wanted to-" I cut him off by slapping him on the back of the head. "Ouch! What was that for!"

"Checking out my sister"

He rubbed the back of his head giving me a glare. "So why did you want to see me?" he asked.

"You haven't found an anchor yet have you?" I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I'm, uh, working on it" he said, looking down at the floor.

I nodded. "Well I wanted to try a few things. Think of it as some extra training. There's going to be a fight soon and I need you prepared" I said.

"Okay..." he trailed. "What kind of things are you going to teach me?"

I smiled. "Well you need to work on your anger. So I'm going to need to calm you down once you've transformed" I said. He looked a little confused.

"Liam, we're going to find your anchor"

Liam, and I were at the boathouse, trying to work on his shifting. Rebecca had decided to give us some alone time so she said she'd explore the Lakehouse.

It had been about twenty minutes and Liam was struggling to shift. We had tried pretty much everyhing.

"I don't get it. You shifted when you were fighting the berserker" I said. Liam shrugged.

"Maybe it was his fight response" Rebecca's voice piped up from behind us.

"I thought you were exploring" I said, crossing my arms.

"I came to help" She replied. "Anyway, as I was saying. You either have a flight or fight response and naturally, Liam's was fight. Basically, he wanted to protect himself and Kira, therefore, causing a shift" she explained.

"So what are you saying?" I questioned.

"We somehow need to get to that fight response of the brain" She replied.

"How are we meant to do that?"

"You're the alpha. Figure it out"

~

"Are you sure about this?" Liam asked worriedly.

"We're sure" Rebecca and I answered in unison.

We'd been brainstorming for a while and managed to come up with a decent idea to help Liam shift. We tied him up to a tree and Rebecca was going shoot arrows at him. Sounds crazy, I know. Hopefully, this could get him angry and signal his fight response.

"Ready?" Rebecca asked.

"Just don't kill me" Liam mumbled.

Becca smirked and drew an arrow. Liam shut his eyes, once she let go, and it landed dangerously close to his head. Liam's eyes burst open and his heart started to beat extremely fast. He gulped as Becca drew back another arrow. This time it landed right above his shoulder. And then another on the other side. I could feel the anger start to radiate off of Liam. I knew what my sister was doing. She was taking her time to slowly build up his anger and to purposely make him fear the arrows. The next two arrows landed either side of his waist. I noticed his claws start to come out. Rebecca noticed it too and looked at me. I nodded at her to carry on. She let the next arrow go and it lodged into his stomach. He screamed in pain and ripped the tape which was binding him to the tree. He roared at us and Rebecca stepped back in fear.

"What do we do now?" She asked, her voice shaking as she watched him pull the arrow from his stomach.

"I don't know, I didn't think we'd get this far" I answered nervously.

Liam started to approach us and I instantly stood in front of my sister.

"Get back inside the lakehouse. I'll deal with him" I said.

"Shouldn't he be using his anchor?" Rebecca asked, slowly stepping backwards.

"We haven't exactly worked out what is yet" I admitted sheepishly. Liam roared at us again.

"Try talking to him" She suggested."And use your own words!"

"Liam" I said calmly. He stepped forwards and Rebecca and I stepped back again. "Liam. I want you to listen to my voice" I started. He growled in response. "I need you to think about something or someone. Concentrate on it"

"I-I'm trying" Liam said desperately. At least we managed to get through to him.

"Liam" Rebecca started. Stepping very close to him. Way too close to an angry werewolf that could rip her throat out at any second. "Look at me" she said sternly. He lifted his eyes up to hers. "Concentrate. Think about your anger. Try and use it" she spoke calmly.

"It's not working!" he exclaimed. Becca stepped even closer.

"Okay. Think about a person. Someone you really love. Think about some of your memories together, get an image of them in your head. Imagine their voice" she spoke softly. Liam squeezed his eyes shut but when he opened them again they were still yellow.

"I just can't do it!" he was getting frustrated with himself, therefore making him angrier. Rebecca put a hand on his shoulder but he flinched and pulled away. "I don't want to hurt you" he said, his eyes watering.

"You're not going to hurt me" She put her hand on his arm. I noticed his claws go back in. "You know why?" He shook his head. His fangs were shrinking. "Because I believe in you"

Finally, his eyes turned back to their normal shade of blue. He did it. He turned back to normal. Rebecca let out a sigh of relief and she immediately pulled him into a hug. I watched them with a scowl. I don't know if Becca realises, but she is his anchor. I've had suspicions for a while now. She's calmed him down before by talking and sometimes even her presence has worked too.

It feels like I'm going back in time;

I feel like Liam's me and Rebecca is Allison.

And I don't know how to feel about that. Liam's a good kid. I know, deep down, that he would never hurt Rebecca but I still feel protective over her. And if she's his anchor, he's going to be protective of her too.

I'm just going to have to trust him.

Later in the afternoon, I pulled up outside Liam's house. He unbuckled his seatbelt and went to climb out of the car but Rebecca grabbed his arm.

"What's going on with you two?" She asked.

"Nothing" Liam and I said simultaneously. My sister rolled her eyes.

"You've acting strange ever since Liam found his anchor. Tell me what's going on"

Liam looked at me worriedly in the rearview mirror.

"You're Liam's anchor" I blurted.

Liam opened his mouth and then closed him again.

"Is- is this true?" Rebecca asked him. He bit his lip.

"Yes" She looked at him with a blank expression on her face. "Rebecca I-"

"Just go"

"I can explain"

"Go!" She snapped. He sighed and climbed out.

"Becca-" I started.

"Just drive, Scott"

A/N

Uh oh, Rebecca didn't take that news so well.

I know this was probably predictable, short and it sucked but the end of the season is approaching (*cries*) and I needed to move things along quickly because I have a big plot twist coming soon.

Anyway, thank you for 6K reads that's really great! And 284 votes!

Love ya ❤️
