Fearless Faun,chapter two

It had been a couple hours, the sun was going down. I didn't like that my mother should've been home hours ago. The Beavers house was only around a half hour away. I knew I shouldn't leave the house but I had a bad feeling. I went to my room grabbing my satchel bag and some some food from the kitchen then I got my blue scarf my uncle had made me.

I stepped outside into the ice covered landscape. The cold biting at my hooves but I was use to that. I began walking towards the Beavers house, but I was stupid the sun was almost down and I was still a ways away from the safety of our family friends. I looked around, the snow coming down harder and harder as the minutes past, as if the clouds were mad and putting out more and more snow.

The snow was now up to my knees making walking hard and slow. My legs started to get numb I couldn't feel them. I needed to get to shelter I looked around for anything I could use as a home for the night. Only trees and Fauns are not good climbers, but I needed to get out of the weather. I slowly made my way to a nearby tree. I stood under it now the snow not as deep for the branches had blocked some of the snow fall. I placed my hands on one of the branches pulling with all my might. My legs relieved to be out of the snow I sat on the branch cold and wet. Hoping my mother and uncle were ok. I honestly wasn't even thinking about my frost bitten legs or the snow matted in my fur and hair. I just wanted my family to be safe.

I woke the next morning the night had been a restless one not much sleep had come to me. I looked around a bit confused as to where I was at first, then I remembered why I was in a tree and my journey to find my family. Without even looking I jumped off the brach. The snow level had risen it had snowed through the night. It now at my waist, travel was slow I was used to the snow It was all I knew. But that doesn't make waking in it any easier. I knew I was close to the Beavers house as I had been there many times before.

I started to pick up my pace as much as I could anyway. I rounded a corner and saw there dam but my gut instantly told me to turn around. Why what was wrong? As I got closer I saw what was wrong there dam was torn down to sticks and logs wolf tracks everywhere in the snow. Jadis has done this, then I remembered my uncle telling me about the daughter of Eve. Jadis has told all Narnians that if we were to find a daughter of Eve or son of Adam to bring them to her. Jadis has taken my uncle and I'm guessing they took the Beavers and my mother as well.

I wasn't sure what to do I needed to find them. But how? I was but a small Faun lost in the winter snow. I was thinking trying to figure out what I could do. Aslan came to my mind I knew he was a story my uncle had told me about, but at this point he was my only hope. But where could I find him? I asked myself.

I soft whisper brought me out of my thoughts. I looked around trying to locate the source of the noise. Then I spotted him,a Fox psssting at me. I walked over to him bending down to his level. "I know what happened" he said, he sounded out of breath, tired

"You do?" I asked needing to know what happened to them. The fox nodded his head.

"Jadis's wolfs" he said taking a deep breath "they came for the sons of Adam and daughters of Eve" he looked around as if he was looking for someone I could see fear in his small brown eyes. His ears listened to every little sound.

"What happened mr Fox?" I ask he looked at me ears still listening.

"The Beavers and the sons and daughters made it out safely,I helped them escape" he took another deep breath "I'm on my way to Aslan to tell him to rally his men" Aslan? He was real.

"May I come with you?" He looked at me pondering my question.

"Please I've lost my mother and uncle,I was hoping Aslan could help me find them"

"Yes you may come, but we must be fast,we've not much time"

"Not much time? What do you mean?"

"The white witch is preparing her army,Narnia will be thrown into war" war? I didn't like the sound of that.

"Come we must be off now" Fox then started walking east, but I noticed he was limping.

"Are you ok? Your limping" he turned around to face me.

"Yes young one,I'm fine just a scratch" he then turned and continued walking east. I however was not a dumb Faun and I could tell he was in pain. I walked over and picked him up in my arms. Stroking his soft fur,he gave me a confused look before settling into my arms.

I walked he directed We where heading towards Cair Parival though I knew that wasn't our destination. I walked all day Fox in my arms, until I could walk no more the sun was setting as well. I stoped and put Fox down "May we rest for a little while?" I asked my legs shaking. I could tell he wanted to keep going but he nodded his head. We went and sat under a pine tree.

"So Aslan is real then" I asked

"Of course he is real" Fox reply "Aslan is the true great king of Narnia,he made Narnia and everyone in it"

"Wow" I hadn't known that.

Fox smiled "wow indeed" he paused then continued with a question "so what happened to your mother and uncle small one?"

I dug my hoof around in the snow I wasn't big on talking about that topic, but I didn't want to ignore his question. "Well,my uncle Tumms went missing, and my mother went to find him but never returned. So I went out to look for them" I didn't realize how much I missed them until I began talking about them. My eyes started filling with tears.

"Don't be sad child,we'll find them" Fox came over to me and licked the tears off my cheek. His tongue was soft and warm bringing a smile to my face. "I promise". He laid down resting his head on my legs. Having someone was nice the journey would be scarier without him here with me.

I hoped he was right,I wanted my family back. I was to young to fend for myself,to not have someone to guide me through life. I didn't realize but I had began stroking Fox again. It gave me a since of security his soft fur brushing through my fingers. He seemed to like it to his eyes were closed like he was sleeping. He wasn't though, he was listening his ears turned at every sound. I leaned up on the tree, the bark tickling my back and just like Fox closed my eyes just listening to the world around us.
