TW: Blood, killing(zombie), anxious thoughts, tell me if I need more please!!

          She was walking down the hall when she spotted an infected. It was banging on the door. trying to get in to get something or someone....

          She brought up her weapon, getting ready to swing. She snuck closer and closer to the infected. She was right behind it. Emma raised her bat and used as much force as she can to crush the skull of the infected. She hit it square on the head, resulting in a loud CRUNCH.

          Emma kept swinging her bat, killing the infected. Well, as well as 'killing' would do. I mean, they are already dead. She knew it was dead because it stopped moving and trying to get her. She crouched down and tried to see what the infected have and if it was useful.

           Seeing as there was nothing useful, she stood up. She quickly looked behind her, paranoid that one would appear right behind her and get Tommy. Emma saw nothing, so she sighed. She looked at the door that the infected tried to get into.

           Preparing her bat(and eyes), she opened the door. She saw nothing at first, but she looked around. She saw nothing in the living room. (Remember, she's in a apartment building) She then searched the kitchen, noticing there are only two rations of canned peaches, which she gladly took.

           She checked almost everywhere, that only leaves the bathroom. Emma stalked her way to the bathroom. Opening the door, she smelled something so bad, so pungent, a smell only an infected could have.

           Alarmed, she jumped back quickly. Emma raised her bloodied bat. She used her foot to push the door open. She raised her bat, getting ready to swing, she waited, waited, and waited. But nothing came, She looked deeper in the bathroom, and saw a zombie carcass and a,,, little kid?

           "Hey, are you okay?" Emma asked. The kid looked up from the body on the floor, 'must be one of their first kills' she thought. The kid looked shocked, then scared, obviously younger than Emma.

           The kid looked like they registered the question, "I- Ah, Y-Yes, Yes I am..."

           Emma smiled. She asked the kid's name, which they responded to, "I- I am Keegan, I- uhm, I'm 12 years old.. and... I use he/him pronouns..."

~°○Keegan's POV○°~

          "I- I am Keegan, I- uhm, I'm 12 years old.. and... I use he/him pronouns..." I said, like what's the worse that could happen, I mean this person with the kid could be transphobic, which wouldn't be good.

           'What if they beat me to death!? What if I get left alone again!? What if they lure those- Tho- Those things!!? I can't fight them!! It was already a close call with this one! What if-!'

           Before I can spiral any deeper, I was cut out of my thoughts. "Well then, Keegan, I am Emma, I use she/her pronouns, and this is Tommy. " The lady, Emma, said.

           My face probably showed it, but I was shocked. I snapped put of my shock and looked back at Emma.

           "Well, Emma, what are you doing here?" I asked, curious because this looked like a new face.

           "I was just finding shelter when I saw an infected banging on the door..." 'Thats why the noise stopped' "... And I came to investigate why, and found you. May I ask, why are you here, by yourself in this apartment building?" She asked.

           "Well, I live here, but not here you know? I live in the complex, but not this apartment exactly. I was down here adventuring for food, because I ran out, and I saw those.... Things,,, down the hall. I then quickly ran into this room. Fortunately, only one managed to get in. I killed it, as you can see," I kicked the carcass, "and the others were banging on the door. I was scared it would break! But, then in the distance, probably a nearby bar or something, a vase fell and shattered. Most of them left to investigate, well, except for one." I said, pointing at the door, "..., That one, I recognized that one...." I started getting choked up. "That one was ...."

Anyways, Hoped you enjoyed, this new character, Keegan, was originally supposed to be 10 or 7, but I changed his age, so now he's 12, This is before the three year time skip.
