It was nowhere. Did it leave? I then look behind me. I spotted it... It is on my back. I tried to suppress my scream. I also tried to shake the monster off my back.

°Emma's POV°

I was frozen, There was a infected on Keegan's back, I think I heard him say something like Abby? Maybe that's its name. Abby. Perhaps his sister. Poor kid. 'ACK Get out of La la land Emma!' I berated myself.

I took a deep breath and told Tommy to hold on tight, I felt him nod. I grabbed my way too blooded and splintered bat. It's not splintered very bad, it's durable, but it is not a metal bat.

I lifted my bat and aimed for the infected. I swung down, being careful for Keegan, and heard a bone crunch. I know for a fact I didn't hit Keegan. I opened my eyes 'When did I shut them?' And saw the corpse of a weird mutilated baby.

I made a disgusted face toward it. I then look back at Keegan, he had tears streaming down his face. I walked towards him and wrapped him in a hug, he needed it.

After a few minutes, when I think he calmed down, I let him go. I put my fingers under his chin and tilted it up gently. I looked him in the eyes and spoke gently, "I need you to get a bag, most preferably a backpack, and pack as much water, a blanket, and some clothes. We will be leaving, this place is no longer safe, at least not this apartment. We will go to a different one, because we had made too much noise, 'kay?" He nodded, telling me he understood. "Okay. Come on, we got to go soon. I'll check the kitchen and put the food in my bag." I gestured to my backpack that laid on my chest. I stood up and reached a hand out so he could grab it. Once he gripped it, I pulled him up.

Once we had everything packed. We sat down. It was dark, and we were tired. So I explained that we would lay down and sleep until the next day. Keegan seemed to like that idea considering that he fell asleep as soon as his had hit the pillow. I could barely sleep, every time I start to drift off, a creak in the floor board or the house(apartment in this case) setting. So it was a restless night for me. Yay.

... Time skip ...

We were carefully stepping out of the apartment complex, heading to god knows where. But at least it is away from this stupid rut. Hopefully Savannah is ok and would meet up with us soon.

Just hope.

Yeah. Hello. We will skip 2 years in the future because clearly these aren't the people's ages mentioned in the character info. It was set 3 years back so we can see what happened in the past.

So now, Keegan would be 14 in the next chap.
Tommy would be 5.
And Emma would be 15.

Emma is like a mother to Keegan because she didn't leave him and he spent a long time with her.
