Chapter 26
A few days had passed since Kiara revealed herself, and she hadn't talked to anyone from her class since then. Bon had left her texts, but she didn't respond to any of them. And since the cram school was on a short break she hadn't seen any of them either.
Normally, she would of been staying in her dorm room, reading a book or trying to get first in Rainbow Road. But instead she was walking to Mephisto's office— most likely to be scolded for revealing her identity. She opened the door to his office, not bothering to knock because she knew he was probably sitting alone in his office like he normally does.
"You called?" She said.
"How could you do this!" He shouted, tears streaming down his face as he pointed towards her tail which she left out since she had no reason to hide it anymore. "I thought we had an agreement!"
"Yeah, well, I changed my mind I guess, Besides, it's not like I did it just because I wanted to, alright. They were treating Rin like a monster and I couldn't stand by and do nothing, and I didn't want to hurt them so what I did was the best alternative. And I bet you're only complaining because you have more work to do."
Mephisto pouted, "You would really do that to me? And feel no remorse?"
Kiara's tail whipped behind her in annoyance. "Yes. I would. Look, can I just leave now? Because honestly this meeting is kind of pointless and I have things to do."
"Fine. I guess you have to start packing as well."
"Packing?"
"Oh, have you not heard yet? You along with the rest of your classmates are going to Kyoto for a mission! Isn't that splendid?"
Kiara perked up a bit, "Kyoto?"
"I see I've caught your interest. Yes, Kyoto. It has come to our attention that there's someone trying to steal the eyes of the Impure King, which can lead to disaster, and we don't want that, now, do we?"
Kiara found it hard to contain her excitement, she's only left True Cross once before, and it wasn't to a big city, but this was Kyoto. They had their own tower!
"Now, I suggest you start packing. You do leave in a few days."
Kiara nodded, and started walking out of the room.
"Though don't you dare think I forgot what you did. I'm still upset!"
"Go cry into your manga!" Kiara called back, "Oh, and change my last name from Pheles to Hoshino in the records." She looked at Mephisto to see a shocked expression on his face, she chuckled and walked out of the office, heading to her dorm to get ready to pack.

The days leading up to the Kyoto mission passed by quickly, and Kiara found herself at the train station, walking towards the train that was going to take them to Kyoto.
She stepped inside, spotting three teens standing in the doorway, staring into the car, fear hanging thick around them. Her eyes narrowed and she pushed passed them, not even acknowledging any of them. She felt a spike of fear come from Konekomaru, but not from the other two.
"K-Kiara!" Bon exclaimed, causing her to stop in her tracks.
"Hoshino." She said flatly.
"What?"
"It's my name. We're not on a first name basis, Suguro. That's a right you have to earn, and you— along with Shima and Miwa— have lost that right. So from now on it's Honshino to you."
"I thought your last name was Pheles." Shima said.
"Well, I found out a few things recently." Kiara said, starting to walk again and turning to sit into a row of empty seats across from Rin, who was staring at her with wide eyes.
"Kiara?" He asked. "You told them your secret? But why?"
Kiara looked at him, "Because I know what it's like to be alone." She said simply before pulling out her DS and turning it on, determined to finally beat the champion in Pokemon White. It wasn't long until everyone was on the train. Kiara had noticed that Izumo sat by Rin. Huh, who would of thought she would be the first one to not be petty.
The train started moving and Kiara looked from her game to the window, watching with shining eyes as the scenery changed from the station to blurred greenery as the train sped by. It wasn't long until Shura was back from the third car where the vaccinations were being administrated and called attention of everyone in the car.
"Okay, listen up! I'm Shura Kirigakure, and I got forced into leading this op. Hold the questions 'till after I give you the rundown." She announced, "All right, so this morning someone snuck into the deep keep and stole this hazardous demonic thing called the Left eye of the Impure King. We know that the thief wasn't working alone— he got help from an outside source. As for why it was stolen, and how many others were involved, we don't know yet. Over in Kyoto, same time this was going on someone was trying to break in to their deep keep. They were after the right eye of the Impure King. They failed this time, but we think they'll try again."
"Excuse me ma'am. I don't know who this Impure King is. We haven't studied him." Izumo called out.
"That's probably because he's not one of the better known demons. The Impure King's and upper level demon that spread plagues in the late Edo period. Thanks to him, four thousand people died from fever and disease. A priest called Fukaku took him down. To prove he was he one that did it, he gouged out the King's left and right eyes. Thing is, the eyes give out a toxic Maisma, so they're super dangerous."
"He gouged them out? What the hell was he thinking? That Fukaku guy sounds like a show off." Rin said.
"So, any crap, even if we don't know what the enemy wants to do with the eyes yet, we're pretty damn sure it's gonna be for something nasty. As long as the right eye's at the Kyoto Branch, it's definitely going to get attacked again. The mission is care for the wounded exorcists and beef up security in case those scum bags make another play for the eye. And I expect all you exwires to help out. And lastly, teamwork, do your best, blah blah blah. And please don't make extra work for me."
After her speech was finished, she walked through the aisle and sat down a couple rows behind Kiara. Turning her attention back to her DS, Kiara worked on leveling up her team. Everything was going smoothly, until an argument broke out between Izumo and Bon.
"Okay lady, I've had enough of you running your mouth." Bon snapped, obviously pissed off, "Who're you callin a coward?"
"Hmph. What else should I call you?" Izumo said.
"Stop it! We're supposed to be on the same team." Rin shouted.
"Team?" Bon Asked.
"That's right. Why can't you trust me man?"
"Me trust you? How can I?"
"I wouldn't try to convince him, Rin. Stuff like trusting others goes over his head when blood ties come into the mix. Apparently he believes that everyone will grow up to be like their dads." Kiara said, not pulling her attention from her game as she beat the first member of the elite four. She spared a glance at Bon as she was mashing a to get through the dialogue- he was staring at her with a regretful expression, until he looked back over at Rin, his gaze hardening.
"Sixteen years ago on the Blue Night, my temples followers were killed by blue flames like yours. That's right your Blue Flames kill people. The followers at my temple are like family to me, so how do you expect me to trust you after what you did to my family?"
"Look man, I'm sorry you went through that. That's nothing to do with me! Don't blame me for what happened!"
"Bon!" Konekomaru exclaimed.
"You talk of good game, like how you said you wanna beat the shit outta Satan."
"That's right. So don't you lug me in with him!" Rin exclaimed, starting to flame up.
Shura had walked from her seat to the two fighting boys and pointed her sword between the two. "Girls, you do this when shit gets real, you know what happens? You die. Exorcists can't fight the good fight on their own. Like it or not you'd better learn to work together." With that, Shura had successfully stopped the fight and the two bickering boys sat down, the train car falling into silence.
Kiara let out a sigh, the fear that had risen during their argument was finally dying down, and for the rest of the ride she focused on beating the champion.
