A new friend
I walked into the brick building and headed up to the top floor, the senior floor.
On my way up, I ran into the smallest kiddies of them all, the 7 year olds and under who all share the same accommodation.
The next floor consisted of 8-12 year olds. These kids are normally starting intense training, which compared to the 7 and under; they are just introduced so at this point the pressures turned up a tempo. Unfortunately some kids end up killing themselves at this point because of the sudden added pressure.
The third floor consists of 13-15 year olds. These kids are what we call the 'mini teens'. They have attitude; which usually results in them going to headmistress Kira's office and never returning. These years tend to be some of the worst as the pressure is turned up to maximum and just starting your period is just not a fun time in here.
Then there's the floor which I was on last year and the year before, the 16-17 year old floor. These years are mainly spent learning all the 'normal' lessons. This could be considered as GCSEs as we have a huge exam at the end of it. However combat is still taught on the sidelines, just not as intense as it should be. By the age of 17, us orphans are normally put into more combat training in order to get us ready for our last year which is reported to be by far the toughest.
Then there's the 5th and final floor. The senior floor. My floor.
I stood outside the double doors which stands between me and the female seniors accommodation.
With one deep sigh, I entered the room to be greeted with 2 other girls. The schools mean girl, Daisy and her minion Tash. And like all mean girl squads, their mean and very self-Conceded; their looks are their main thing. Well, they have their preferred weapons like everyone else around here but even I think I could do better and there not even my weapon of choice. Daisy's weapon of choice is a sword and Tash's weapon of choice is a crossbow.
Their complete and utter idiots the two of them. That's why they never get anywhere other than being in the back corners. Honestly I don't know how their still here as their absolute bishes! Maybe their attitude and their horrid confidence is why their still here, popularity keeps them thriving like a fungus.
"Alena!" I heard a distinct voice squeal out.
I looked around and at the end of the room stood my very best friend, throughout this treacherous experience, Bella. She's my weakness; I don't have family but to me Bella is family and in all honesty, if anything happened to her, I actually don't know what I would do. Maybe I would end up dead eventually but enough with the negative thoughts.
"Bella!" I also squealed whilst running and crushing her in my bone breaking hug.
"Can't.....breathe" Bella let out after a few moments of me enjoying her company.
After realising that I was suffocating her, I slowly let her go with an apologetic look graced upon my face.
"Sorry." I said quietly. Her face visibly red.
"Almost.... killing me is not...... what friends are supposed..... to do!" Bella said frantically.
I rolled my eyes, such a drama queen, "it's not like I would have actually killed you." And with that said, I went over and dumped my bags on my bed for this year.
The light from the window just above my bed had shed majority of the light into this out of date room. Unlike majority of buildings in the real world, these buildings don't contain plug sockets. well, that excludes the principles quarters which is where our phones and other electronically devices are stowed until we have free time.
That's one of the things that makes this whole experience unbearable; the schools medieval ways. No contact with the outside world, no source to help sustain secureness with loved ones outside these borders.
Luckily for me, everyone that I need to talk to are within these borders and are in this very room; that being Bella and not the two Malibu barbies gossiping and applying makeup in the corner.
"Welcome back seniors!" Miss. Hattia our physical education teacher spoke loudly whilst walking into our accommodation, "headmistress Kira is holding a welcome back ceremony in 10 minutes. Don't be late!" And with those words spoken, she left.
I looked over to Bella who's face was still slightly red from her 'near death' experience and made eye contact with her.
"Ready for a new year." I sighed out from across the room.
"Ready to finish this new year." Bella said happily before waltzing over to me, "now let's go!" She said happily whilst dragging me out of our accommodation.
Whilst walking towards the door the two other seniors said something along the lines of 'immature' or something like that. Whatever, it's not like their words have actually worked wonders; except maybe felicity which sent her over the edge, literally.
Whilst my mind was up in the clouds, I didn't see where I was going and I accidentally ran into one of the smaller girls.
Looking around I didn't see Bella in sight. I guess she must of left me.
"Hey! Watch where your going!" The little tyrant said.
God, she looks so adorable! She must be around about 9. Oh, how the next few years are going to take a toll on her.
"Sorry young one." I said whilst crouching down to her level, "mind telling me who you are?" I asked kindly.
"My names lydia and I'm in my second phase of training-" meaning she is on the second level of this building, "well, I'm just starting my second phase as I'm only 8." She said whilst puffing out her chest in pride.
Aww! She reminds me of a younger me: ambitious and prideful.
"Well, nice to meet you Lydia, I'm Alena and I'm in my last year." I said whilst putting out my hand for her to shake.
Lydia reached out to my hand and shook it vigorously with her two dainty hands, "I've never met one of the oldest kids. It's truly an honour!" She said ecstatically.
I let out a small chuckle, "Well, the honours all mine."
Lydia held a big smile on her face, "Thanks. I hope to make it to where you are one day!"
I reached out again and patted her on the head, "you will, I'm sure of it."
Once those words came out of my mouth, it seemed as if it sparked something in her eyes as she seemed to be glowing.
I stood up fully again and held out my hand, "I think it's time we go to the welcoming ceremony."
The girl looked at my hand for a few moments before grasping it, "let's go!" She said with a small giggle.
I guess I've now made a new friend.
