Fear us

Humanity, Earthers, Terrans, there are a million names for those who once roamed nothing but the planet Terra in the Sol system. They are a young, wild, barbaric and terrifying people, but yet they are brilliant, strong, brave and amazing at the same time

To describe them simply is to say that they are like a wild fire, beautiful, wild, growing and unpredictable, but dangerous if you get to close.

Of course when they first joined the Council of Worlds they were a small people, barely noticed next to any of the other peoples, their words and votes were of little meaning as they were small, weak and wild. All we bothered to learn of their history was that it was full of war and barbaric concepts, which lead us to never realize the rest.

They had a concept called metamen, a horrifying concept that brings fear to all of us even today, they could transfer the consciousness of their people, and did so into machines built for specific purposes, forever putting them in a cold skin of metal.

On a quite average day on a diplomatic station for the Council of Worlds, it all started, the Terrans ambassador was old and tired, he was getting replaced with another ambassador, an event almost unnoticed to the major peoples, except for this time. The new ambassador was an advanced metaman.

The T’keth, a great and ancient insectoid people, one of the major five in the Council, immediately demanded that the Terrans get rid of metamen, by any means necessary, claiming that even the concept of metamen was an insult to evolution and biological life itself.

‘’We have equality for all minds and conscious beings, not biological or synthetic skins, and we will keep that equality.’’ Replied the metaman ambassador.

The T’keth were horrified, and decided that since the Terrans were nothing but a small barbaric people with no potential they would make an example of them in a quite gruesome manner. They would claim all of the Terrans outer colonies and occupy the major ones, in which they would force the metamen out of their metal skins. The T’keth didn’t know, no one knew, the horror that they were unleashing on the world, the Terrans.

When the first Terran colony fell the casualties were larger than expected, the metamens hard skin made them excellent at ground warfare, but they quickly fell to the advanced technology of the T’keth.

They quickly moved on to the next colony and took it with heavier casualties, the Terrans had spent every waking moment since they were alerted of the oncoming war, or slaughter as some people called it, converting all metamen to military grade which made them fierce in battle.

Once the colony had fallen the Terrans still didn’t give it up, the T’keth couldn’t walk safely in the streets as a pack of metamen could jump out of an underground transport system at any time to attack the T’keth occupying the colony.

One of the Terrans surviving the attack spoke of a small but important military research facility hidden in an asteroid belt, a single T’keth ship was sent out to get rid of it. There was no research facility, only a cluster of huge EMP’s and several transports carrying military metamen, the EMP’s were just strong enough to take the power of the ship that the metamen boarded and captured, the metamen were outnumbering the T’keth soldiers 10 to 1 but still lost over 80% of their men, the way to explain it in human terms would be a ‘’pyrrhic victory’’, or so we thought.

The Terrans adapted the technology of the captured cruiser and it’s soldiers into their own at incredible speeds, by the time the T’keth were going for the third colony the new Terran fleet as they called it was ready to face them. The new Terran fleet was very advanced technologically as they had obviously learned from the T’keth cruiser, the fleet was still destroyed but the T’keth casualties were much greater.

The real horror started on the third colony itself, the metamen and average Terrans had more advanced weapons developed from T’keth technology, but they still fell relatively easily. Once the T’keth were walking on the colony there were no traps, no hidden metamen, nothing, for three days.

On the third day, when thousands of T’keth soldiers were walking on the colony, the planetary defense system, apparently disabled and stealthed earlier, activated itself and turned on the colony before firing, the colony along with all of the thousands of T’keth soldiers and Terran buildings were all destroyed.

The Terrans destroying on of their own colonies was a bold and bloody move, their tactics were bloody and dangerous, suicidal even, on a scale never seen by the Council of Worlds, it created a sort of fear and respect for them, or would have, if they didn’t think the T’keth were going to exterminate them.

You see, the T’keth took the bloody moves as a sign of the Terrans being too dangerous, especially if they grew, and decided to exterminate all of them instead of just the metamen, claiming that it’d be a lesser evil to end a greater.

The Terrans didn’t have any of it.

The T’keth moved on to the fourth colony, there was only the Mars colony and earth itself left after this one, which was one of the largest Terran colonies already, no matter how the battle went the casualties would be astronomical.

There was no fleet, only the ground forces that did manage to fight well with more sophisticated weapons than before. Once the ground forces were wiped out the T’keth searched for, and found, hidden planetary defenses, and destroyed them before starting to safely set down on the fourth colony with plenty of Terran buildings to live in and use as it was a huge colony, hundreds of thousands of soldiers set down on the supposedly safe planet, no booby-traps and no planetary trap.

Then the Terrans taught us the concept of spite, a horrible concept indeed.

While there were the most T’keth on the colony, an explosive of an incredible scale killed a tenth of them instantly, it was the largest Terran bomb created to the date, using antimatter technology, hidden under the ground of the planet.

The rest of the soldiers helplessly walked the planet as they realized what happened, the explosive was massive enough to knock the planet itself out of its orbit, slowly it drifted toward its sun, until it burned along with the T’keth.

The Council of Worlds themselves had to ask the Terran ambassador what the purpose of this was, such a horrible tactic that they felt it hurt all of them, the ambassador responded simply:

‘’If we can’t have it, no one can. This war isn’t about keeping what is ours, but hurting the enemy.’’

The T’keth had lost too many, the small Terrans had lost almost all of their colonies and yet they seemed larger than ever, whether or not they survived they had a permanent name in the history of the Council of Worlds, a name of brilliance and fear.

The T’keth planned to end the Terrans once and for all, they gathered their remaining forces that were in previously Terran space and flew straight towards the Sol system.

They met the largest Terran fleet existing, having been built behind the scenes all of the time, with the most advanced Terran technology, adapted with that of the T'keth cruiser, it was a mix of cruisers, hidden bombs, huge nuclear warheads and experimental antimatter bombs, metaman drop pods and very advanced planetary defences, most of which was adapted with the T'keth technology, it was the longest and bloodiest battle of the all, but the Terrans were victorious in the end, not a living T’keth was left in the Sol system.

A long period of silence, no one sent craft into Terran space and no Terrans came out, the ambassador stayed in his quarters and the T’keth were gathering their forces spread around the rest space.

Then, one message broke the silence, a message that managed to terrify the T’keth to their bones, they gathered all their forces immediately and put them in defensive positions, even the rest of the Council of Worlds feared what could happen.

It was sent directly to the T’keth senate on their home planet, there was no video, no audio, only text, one simple sentence:

‘’We are coming for you.’’
