Killmonger (Black Panther-Part 4)
-Location: Wakanda
[No One's POV]
It's now the morning after the incident in Korea and Agent Ross is seen on the bed from yesterday. He then slowly wakes up and looks around as he sits up, surrounded by futuristic medical equipment. Ross then reaches for his bullet wound to find that nothing was there. It's been healed. He looks around confused as he gets to his feet and starts to walk around, trying to figure out where he was. He then turns to see Shuri working on some new weapons in the shape of panthers as she and James talk about stuff. He walks over to them and speaks.
"Alright, where am I?" he asks, causing Shuri and James to turn to him.
"Don't scare me like that, Colonisser!" Shuri scorns Ross as he walks up to James and Shuri.
"Wha-what?" he questions. "My name is Everett."
"Yes, I know," Shuri says. "Everett Ross: former Air Force pilot and now CIA."
"Right."
Ross then looks around, still confused about his surroundings.
"You're in Wakanda, Ross," James tells the American agent. "Man, it's glad to have you back in the land of the living."
"Wait what?" Ross questions as James smirks.
"Yeah, you died a few times during the two months we've been here," James tells the CIA agent. "Thankfully, Shuri was able to bring you back to life."
"What?! I died?!" Ross questions in horror.
"No, you did not die," Shuri says. "James is only messing with you. And it's only been less than a day since you were brought here."
"Less than a day?" Ross questions. "I don't think so. Bullet wounds don't magically heal over night."
"They do here," Shuri says. "But not by magic. By technology."
"Shouldn't say that to Zarathos," James declares. "He's able to heal "magically."
"Whatever, James," Shuri says as she playfully pushes the Ghost Rider's shoulder.
Soon Ross starts to walk around and Shuri speaks to him.
"Don't touch anything, my brother will be back soon," she tells the man.
Shuri then goes back to working and Ross walks over to the glass to see the mining operation Klau told him about in Korea.
"These... train things, that's-that's magnetic levitation, right?" Ross asks Shuri.
"Obviously."
"Obviously, but I've never seen it this... efficient," Ross says in amazement.
As Ross looks at the mine, James instantly makes a conclusion that Ross' acting like James did when he first saw this place. It was like a child at the mall.
"The light panels, what are they?" Ross asks.
"Sonic stabilizers," Shuri answers.
"Sonic what?"
"At vibranium's true form, it's too dangerous to be moved at such high speeds," James tells Ross, remembering what Shuri told him from before. "Princess Smarty-Pants over here developed them to temporarily deactivate the metal."
"There's vibranium on those trains?" Ross asks.
"There's vibranium all around us," Shuri answers. "That's how I healed you."
"I mean, I could've healed you with my powers but Princess over here didn't want her lab burned down," James says with a joking smile.
"And I STILL don't want you turning into the Rider in my lab!" Shuri tells the Rider who just rolls his eyes.
Shuri then starts to get a call on her wrist beeds and she goes to answer it, telling James and Ross to be quiet.
"Where is T'Challa?" an image of Okoye asks Shuri as Ross moves closer to inspect the call. "His Komolo Beeds have been switched off."
"We're not joined at the hip, Okoye," Shuri says with a smile.
"A man showed up at the border who claims to have killed Klau!" Okoye states, earning a growl from James.
"Dammit!" he shouts. "I wanted to be the one to put down that bastard!"
"What do you mean, Okoye?" Shuri asks the member of the royal guard.
"W'Kabi is transporting him to the palace as we speak," Okoye declares. "We need to find your brother."
"An outsider?" Shuri questions as she pulls up the image of an African American male with short dreads and bits of armour on his body.
"No," Okoye says. "Wakandan."
"He's not Wakandan," Ross whispers to Shuri. "He's one of ours."
[James' POV]
Soon T'Challa is back in the lab and Ross had told us all about the outsider that claims to be Wakandan. His name's Erik, but he also goes by the name Killmonger. It was a name he picked up in the Navy Seals due to him racking up confirmed kills like he was a pro gamer playing Call of Duty or some shit. He even kept score by making marks on his body, showing how many people he truly did kill.
"This is... insane," I say. "And he's here in Wakanda?"
"He is," Shuri answers.
"And I'm going to talk to him," T'Challa states as he walks off.
"I'm coming too," I say. "I want to have a word with the guy that took my kill."
"No, you are staying here," T'Challa tells me.
"You ain't stopping me, T," I tell the King of Wakanda. "I'm going whether you like it or not."
T'Challa sighs in defeat and allows me to join him.
-Location: Royal Courtroom-
After some discussion, the members of the Wakandan Court allow me to enter the courtroom and to be a part of the talk with Killmonger.
Soon the doors open to reveal two Wakandan guards guiding the man known as Erik "Killmonger" Stevens into the courtroom and said man looks around, studying everyone in here including me. He soon makes it to the center of the courtroom and stops. T'Challa speaks in his native tongue and the guard translates.
"Speak."
"I'm standing in ya house, serving justice to a man who stole vibranium from you and murdered your people. Justice your king couldn't deliver," Killmonger says which immediately angers T'Challa, making him rise from his throne and walk to Killmonger.
I follow him, in case I need to intervene.
"I don't care that you brought Klau," T'Challa tells Erik. "The only reason I don't kill you were you stand is because I know who you are. Now, what do you want?"
Killmonger looks at T'Challa before looking pass me and at the throne.
"I want the throne."
At this statement, many of the people in the room start to laugh which only annoys Erik.
"Y'all sittin' up here comfortable," the ex-soldier observes. "Must feel good. There's about two billion people around the world that look like us, bu they're lives are a lot harder. Wakanda has the tools to liberate them all."
"And that is?" I ask.
"Vibranium," Erik says, saying it like it's a fact which it is. "Your weapons."
"Our weapons will not be used to wage war on the world," T'Challa tells Killmonger. "It is not our way to be judge, jury, and executioner for people who are not our own."
"Not your own?" Killmonger questions. "Didn't life start right here on this continent? So ain't all people your people?"
"I am not king of all people," T'Challa states. "I am King of Wakanda. And it is my responsibility to make sure our people are safe and our vibranium does not fall into the hands of a person like you."
"People like me?" Erik asks. "I don't know who you are when you have a cold-blooded murderer right in your courtroom."
Erik then turns to me.
"Or should I say warm-blooded?"
I go to attack Killmonger, but T'Challa stops me and looks at me with a look that says to stand down.
"Son, we have entertained this charlatan for too long!" T'Challa's mother tells her son. "Reject his request."
"Oh I ain't requesting nothing," Killmonger states. "Ask who I am."
"You are Erik Stevens!" Shuri says, seemingly popping out of nowhere. "An American black operative. A mercenary codenamed Killmonger! That's who you are!"
"That's not my name, Princess," Erik tells Shuri.
"Don't call me that," Shuri says. "Only my friends are allowed to call me that."
Killmonger only smiles and turns back to T'Challa.
"Ask me who I am, King."
"No," T'Challa says.
"Ask me," Erik repeats.
"Take him away," T'Challa orders as he walks back to his throne. "James, please accompany them to make sure he leaves and never comes back."
"Right," I say and turn to Killmonger. "C'mon Soldier-Boy, let's go."
I grab his shoulder as some guards come to take him as well when one of the court members speaks in Wakandan. Killmonger replies back in Wakandan, shocking everyone including me.
"I found my daddy with panther claws in his chest!" Erik declares with anger. "You ain't the son of a king, you the son of a murderer!"
"Lies!" T'Challa's mothers says after speaking in Wakandan.
"I'm afraid not my queen," one of the guards say and lift up his hand to reveal a gold necklace with a vibranium panther ring on it.
T'Challa's mother motions to the guard to give her the necklace and Erik speaks to her.
"Hi Auntie."
The guard gives the ring to the queen and Erik speaks again.
"I'm exercising my blood right to challenge for the mantle of king!" he says. "And Black Panther."
Everyone looks at T'Challa for his answer and some try to tell him not to do it. After some discussion, T'Challa answers.
"I accept your challenge."
-Location: Ceremonial Fighting Arena-
[No One's POV]
Soon all the people that needed to be there was there at the arena. James was standing next to Shuri, who stood next to her mother. Then Zuri walks out into the water with a bowl in his hands as he reaches T'Challa. The king goes to his knees as Zuri speaks.
"T'Challa will now have the powers of the Black Panther stripped away!"
He pours a purplish black liquid into T'Challa's mouth and he starts to shake as his views pop out from underneath his skin. Soon, T'Challa now longer has his powers and stands to face Killmonger.
"Is this your king?!" Erik asks as T'Challa struggles to get up. "Him?!"
The wounded Wakandan gets up to attack Killmonger, only for him to dodge and pick T'Challa up. He walks over to the edge of the arena... and throws the now defeated T'Challa off and into the water.
"Nah! I'M your king!" he says as he stands triumphantly at his victory.
James stares in horror as one of his best friends just died before him. Shuri and T'Challa's mother scream in anguish as they're last remaining family member was killed as well. Then James boils with anger as hatred fills his body, his senses becoming dull as red fills his vision.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" James roars in anger as he charges at Killmonger, his voice contorting. "I'LL KILL YOU!'
Erik only smirks as he sidesteps James' attack and punches him in his side. James shouts in pain but continues as he goes for a punch. Killmonger dodges it as well and grabs James' head, following with a headbutt that makes the Rider stumble back. Killmonger then grabs one of his swords and rams it through James' chest, making him gasp for air and in pain. Erik leads the still impaled James over to the edge and speaks to him.
"Yeild," he says, "and I'll let you live."
"Why... w-would you... sp-spare me?" James asks.
"Cuz there's a change coming!" Erik declares. "And I'm gonna make sure you have front row seats to watch it burn."
James spits a mixture of blood and spit on Erik's face and speaks.
"You will never... be... a king."
"So be it then," Killmonger says with a smirk and kicks James from his sword, sending him off the edge and into the raging waters.
After that, Killmonger was given the ceremonial necklace indicating that he was now the King of Wakanda. Some even went to look for the bodies of T'Challa and James to give them a proper burial.
They were never found.
