Chapter Two: Introducing and Meeting *Steven*
"Oh guys!" Sayaka waved to some people behind me, causing me to turn in order to see the newcomers, a bit curious to see who it was. As they waved back, I tried to recall what I could about them.
I briefly remembered them as the new kids, the fresh seedlings (in Dominic's words) of our group before the Healing Scars kids and the Eco Team. Huh, I guess it pays to be one of the founding members.
I exhaled softly. That didn't mean I was here on my own free will, course. Honestly I had been hesitant. I was worried that they would judge me. But Duri and Sayaka had said that it was okay, so I had reluctantly relented.
I sighed, adjusting my jacket before hearing Duri call me.
I turned back, only to be faced with a key with a label on it.
CC-09
Huh. I guess it's my cabin for the trip.
I then moved away before Sayaka called out, "Hold up, Steven."
"Huh? Is something wrong?" I asked, heading back there.
"Not really," Duri smiled. "It's just that your cabin mates are also here."
"Cabin... Mates?" I repeated.
"Yep!" Sayaka fished some keys out. "Sakura Genki, CC-05. Edogawa Conan, CC-07. Kam Choiseung, FC, CC-02. Amano Keisuke, FC, CC-10."
I blinked, "Four of them? That's a bit unexpected."
"Every cabin row has eleven people in each. It helps since our group is already reaching the four-hundreds," Sayaka explained. "We arranged it through our own system. Keita approved with Robert-nii and Hershel-nii, so that's that."
"Huh, if Hershel-nii approved of it, then it should have been good enough," Genki offhandedly commented.
"You're not wrong there," Duri laughed. "Getting it through him was definitely hard."
"Very," Sayaka solemnly nodded.
I found myself smiling slightly. These guys were counselors for good reason.
"Anyway, you guys should head off now," Lizzy (I think that was her name, since she's the only blonde female around that group.) did the hand motion for pushing them away.
FC Keisuke and Choiseung pouted, but they waved to their friends before moving closer to me.
I instinctively flinched, backing away. I didn't want anyone to get hurt by being near me...
"Hey, are you okay?" Choiseung blinked. His eyes held worry and concern.
"Good question," FC Keisuke nodded in agreement.
"I-I'm fine," I waved it off, trying to avoid eye contact. I didn't want to talk about this, for sure.
"Guys, just go unpack your stuff," Sayaka sweat dropped. "I heard from the other members that you take a long time to unpack."
"H-Hey!" Choiseung poked his fingers together, his face red. He looked a bit embarrassed hearing that.
I found a small smile playing on my lips. Looks like the cruise was going to be quite interesting.
"Come on then," Conan grabbed my hands. He was gripping me quite tightly, so I had a feeling that he was trying to comfort me, proven when he gave me a small smile, "Let's go, Steven-kun."
"Wait up, Oniichan!" Genki laughed, grabbing his brother's bag and slinging it over his other shoulder, parallel to his own things. Clearly Conan was taking advantage of his brother authority AND his size.
"You're just that mean to Genki, aren't you?" I shook my head playfully, feeling a bit better than before. "You shouldn't be like that, you know."
"Hey, it's only once in a while. Don't lecture me like Ran does," he pouted, trying to win me over his puppy doll eyes.
I rolled my eyes seeing that, "I'm not falling for that, you know."
"I can tell, but it was worth a shot," he shrugged.
Choiseung (well, the FC one, now that I think about it) gave me a small smile, finally finding his chance to slip into the conversation, "Nice to meet you, by the way. I'm Kam Choiseung."
"And I'm Amano Keisuke of the FC world," FC Keisuke added, jumping at the chance to join in.
I smiled at them warmly, "Steven Universe of the Original Dimension. Nice to meet you two. Your counterparts are your sempais here, but I hope they won't intimidate you too much when you finally meet them eventually."
"Ah yeah, I heard about my OD self," FC Choiseung nodded. "He couldn't come today, I guess?"
"Yeah. All four couldn't," Genki sighed. "It's a shame, honestly. I was looking forward to getting to know them better. They're awesome detectives, from what I heard. Now I'll just have three days to get to know them."
"Hey, your brother is one," Conan frowned, looking a bit offended.
"Gomen, gomen, but I spend too much time with you, Oniichan. Plus, they're detectives on the supernatural side of things. Stopping crimes and finding murderers is definitely harder when the other side of the world comes in," Genki rose his hands in defence.
"Gotta agree on Genki here," FC Keisuke nodded. "Plus, I want to see for myself just how different they are compared to our group."
"Well, one huge difference is definitely the fact that Chenhua and Choiseung aren't related. Chenhua is actually younger, if I remember correctly," I chipped in.
"Woah, really?" FC Choiseung's eyes widened. "That's surprising."
"Apparently, Dav-chan never expected that certain plot to come out. She just wrote according to her feelings," Conan shrugged. "Plus, Chenhua was a scientist for the facility that created the hybrids."
"Now that I think of it, you mentioned that Dav-nee made those hybrids right? So how does that fit into the context?" Genki curiously asked.
"I think Shirou mentioned that she made those in fifth grade. And since the Portal was still around, it makes sense that it brought those to life. I guess that since she never made the AU seal on their story, which was meant to be a continuation of Hidden Friends, now that I think of it, their place was created. Last time I checked, it became a new world near the Youkai World," Conan explained.
"To think that she made so many things happen when she was so young..." FC Keisuke shook his head in amazement. "She's kinda cool."
"She would definitely disagree with you, honestly, but I see no reason to deny it," Conan joked.
I laughed as I then noticed that we were nearing the cabins for row CC, "Well, looks like we're here."
"That's great," Conan grinned.
Genki then noticed someone up ahead, and waved, "Oh, Rantaro-nii, Madoka-chan, Tecna-san, Dukun!"
"Eh? Dukun's here?" Conan evidently perked up.
I had to resist rolling my eyes at this. Conan was just ridiculous at times.
The caramel-eyed Korean turned over from his conversation with them, and grinned, "Ah, Steven-kun, Conan-kun, Genki-kun, FC Choiseung-kun, FC Keisuke-kun! You're our fellow cabin mates?"
"Seems that way! You're in CC too?" Conan asked, leaning on the railing nearby despite the ridiculous height.
"Yeah!" Dukun nodded happily, looking even more excited than before.
Madoka moved over to me, smiling softly as her pink hair shined under the weak rays of sunlight today, "Hey there, Steven. How are you?"
"I'm okay, Madoka," I smiled back at her. "How's getting readjusted to human life?"
"A bit hard, but I'm making it," she admitted. "What about you? I heard that you just came back from some nature trips around America."
"Not an easy decision, but it worked out. Sayaka and Duri thought I needed more counselling, though, so here I am," I scratched the back of my head.
She chuckled softly, "As expected from those two. At least it wasn't HS Semo going up your case. Heard from Dukun that he was much more savage. HS Duri is a fluffball, honestly, but HS Semo is on a whole new level."
"Yeah I know. What are we calling that group again?"
Her brother looked away briefly from talking to FC Keisuke, "Oh, I think Keita mentioned that they opted to call them HS and then their names, though it's a bit of a mouthful."
"Most of the other AUs are that way, honestly," Tecna sweatdropped, her blue eyes showing how used she was to this. "Anyway, you guys should go unpack now. Dinner's in an hour."
"Alright then," I nodded.
The others agreed with me, so we eventually split up to get ready for dinner.
Wait, I should probably have a shower before going to dinner. I felt tired to death. A nice warm shower was bound to help.
