Detoxing "Love"

Frank sat outside of the castle, feeling a bit too nauseous for breakfast. He woke up feeling weird. He was just... Off?

Frank's eyes crossed as he felt the contents of his stomach rise up his esophagus. He quickly covered his mouth, leaning over a nearby wall in just enough time to upchuck out of sight.

The truth was that Frank had began to feel weird the previous day, when he went to eat one of his liquorice wands. The box was gone from his bedside drawer, but none of his dorm mates would confess to taking it.

Besides that, the previous day had been fairly normal. That is, until dinner rolled around.

Frank's head had began to mildly hurt, prompting him to skip dinner and go to bed. It took ages for him to fall asleep. His usual dreams that were coated in a pink haze were dark and terrifying. He tossed and turned the entire night until he finally woke up, well after the others in his dorm. A shiver wracked his entire body as he looked around the empty room.

Now, he was feeling that same cold sweat as his head began to spin. He turned his back to the wall he had just hunched over and allowed himself to slide down it. His head swam with disorganized thoughts and images.

He shut his eyes, trying to avoid the nauseating feeling that made him want to throw up again. He wasn't sure what was happening, just that something was very wrong.

He gasped as his eyes shot open. Unnoticed to him, a pinkish haze floated out from his eye before fading into the air. Frank's dizziness and disorientation suddenly became confusion.

What the hell was going on? Where was he?..

His breaths arched as he looked around. He could recognize the school around him, but why was he outside? He pushed himself up to his feet, holding his head immediately after. The world spun for a short moment before things evened out.

"What the hell?.." He let out with a breath of air. He blinked through the dim light of the day, trying to grasp what was happening. He didn't remember coming outside. He didn't even remember waking up... Had he been sleepwalking?..

Sudden yelling from somewhere nearby distracted his questions. It sounded like some kind of pain, but Frank wasn't sure. He instinctively patted his robes, quickly finding his wand to pull out. The yelling had silenced, but it had sounded like the noise had come from somewhere behind him. He took a couple of cautious steps before quickening his stride.

The damp ground sunk slightly with his footsteps as he hurried to where the yell had come from. It had sounded like a familiar voice...

He stopped in his tracks when a wave of cold hit him. His pants of breath became chillingly visible as a sadness crept into his mind. The image of his sister flashed over his mind. Her soft cries as his mother and father held each other in an attempt at comfort. Frank sitting out in the hall, trying to grasp what was happening. She couldn't die so young, could she?

Frank shook his head, shutting his eyes tightly. He didn't like reliving those memories. He never would, voluntarily. Something unnatural was going on, and he had a sneaking suspicion.

"Expecto Patronum." Frank recited, earning nothing but a blue whisp out of the tip of his wand. He let out an irritated noise before extending his wand again.

"Right, happy memories behind it..." Frank muttered to himself as he tried to think past the memory of the last night knowing his sister. Happy. He needed happy. Why didn't he remember that in the first place?..

He shut his eyes with a soft exhale of breath. Happy thoughts; what made him happy?..

Snowy white hair crossed over Frank's mind, followed by a name that made his heart flutter. Gerard. Why did it feel like the name had become foreign to his thoughts? The sound of his boyfriend's laughter filled his ears as if they were standing right next to each other.

Frank laughed out loud, feeling a warmth spread through him that counteracted the cold. He opened his eyes seeing the charm already working without his vocalized instruction. A scruffy dog ran through the air in front of him, casting a shield from the cold and depressing thoughts.

"Now, let's go." Frank told himself before starting forward. He moved quickly in the direction of the yelling. His patronus ran along side him with silent barks.

Rather quickly, Frank found himself upon the covered bridge. He slowed his pace, feeling a cold depression threaten the shield of his patronus.

"Hello?" He called out, rather hesitant. He hoped someone was just playing a joke, but this felt real. "Is anybody out there?"

He heard nothing in response. He crept forward, pointing his wand towards the bridge. "Go on, you." Frank instructed his patronus, which was walking in circles behind him. The patronus' head perked up before it let out silent bark. It rushed forward, moving through Frank to get forward.

A screeching rushed through the air, sending Frank to the ground. He quickly managed to push himself up on his hands, with just enough time to see the hooded figure flying up into the sky. Frank rolled over into his back watching the creature with wide eyes. It vanished into the clouds above, followed by a fading blue whisp.

"That was a dementor..." Frank whispered to himself, scooting back along the ground. "That was a-oh fuck." He scrambled to his feet in a panic as his breaths accelerated. Why was there a dementor on campus? What had it been after?

The scream from earlier crossed over Frank's mind. He turned towards the bridge and began to run. His footsteps echoed on the wood as he came upon two bodies on the ground.

Frank's head spun as he slowed, making him have to grip the side of the bridge. That sick feeling was returning. He groaned as his feet slid, causing him to sink to the ground.

"Guys?.." Frank called out to the two blurry figures in front of him. His vision was going in and out of focus as his head began to pound. The figure closest to him was still except for the slight shaking of their head. The further figure was shaking and twitching.

Frank reached out to the closer figure, squinting to try and better his vision. "Guys?.." His fingers grazed the robe of the closest figure.

Another pain shot through his head, causing him to cry out. He fell to his side, releasing the side of the bridge and holding his head. He didn't understand what was happening; dementors didn't have this kind of effect on people.

His eyes crossed once again before his head thudded against the bridge and everything went dark.

The next thing he knew, his eyes were snapping open to look up at a stone roof. His whole body ached, but at least his vision was clear. He turned his head to the side, slightly, to see a row of beds. Across the room was the same set up, except for the fact that some had curtains around them.

"Frank?"

Frank turned his head to the other side to see Tyler looking at him with concern. The skinny boy had two small scratches on his face and his uniform was out sorts. "You're awake! Josh, get Madame Pomfrey!" He hollered to his boyfriend as Frank began to push himself into an upright position.

"Tyler? What happened?" Frank questioned with a scratchy voice. How had he ended up in the hospital wing? This day kept getting stranger...

"I don't know." Tyler shook his head, "Professor Howell was giving Josh some calming drought when we saw something fly up into the clouds. He told us to stay back, we didn't listen, and we ran out to the grounds. We found you and Ryan and Gerard-"

"Gerard was out there?" Frank's eyes widened. Had Gerard been in danger? He didn't remember seeing the other boy's snowy white hair...

Tyler nodded, "Yea. It seemed like a dementor got to them. Ryan is really messed up, he hasn't woken up yet."

"What about Gerard?" Frank pressed, "Is he okay?"

Tyler's brow furrowed as he looked back at Frank. "Are you alright?" He asked.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Frank shot back, "Who cares how I am, what about Gerard?"

Tyler fliched a bit at Frank's snappiness. "You just... He's alive." Tyler shifted his sentence from its original origin. He wasn't sure what was going on with Frank's change in behavior; he hadn't bothered with Gerard in months.

"Mister Iero, you're up and awake!" Madame Pomfrey came bustling into the room with Josh rushing behind her. She waved her wand, sending the blankets covering Frank's lower torso up in the air. "Mister Joseph, you can go if you'd like, that's the best I can do for your owl scratch. It should be gone in a few hours."

"Thank you." Tyler nodded. He quickly moved to stand by Josh, who swiped at the darker haired boy's cheek with his thumb, earning a smile.

"Mister Iero, need to see your eyes." The nurse instructed before turning Frank's head so that he was looking at her.

"What's going on? I'm fine, please, can I see Gerard." Frank tried to pull out of the nurse's grip, but she wasn't having it.

"You need to rest and so does he." She scolded. She turned to Josh and Tyler. "Would one of you boys fetch the chocolate from my desk?" She asked, sweetly.

Both boys nodded before hurrying off to do that for her. Frank felt frustrated. He needed to see Gerard. It felt like so long since being with the Hufflepuff, but he knew it couldn't of been that long... Although, his head did have a strange fuzziness the more he tried to think back.

"You should be fine to go tomorrow." The nurse said, releasing Frank's face and waving her wand again. The blankets settled back onto the bed and over Frank while a small goblet flew through the air and into the nurse's hand. She held it out to Frank, "Take this."

Frank shook his head, "Can't I just-"

"Now, Mister Iero." She spoke in a threatening tone that convinced Frank to take the goblet from her hand and start drinking from it. It tasted a lot like warm milk.

"We got the chocolates." Josh said as he and Tyler walked back over to Frank's bed.

"Thank you, boys! I'll check on Mister Ross next if you would take that to Mister Way."

Frank pulled the now empty cup away from his lips. "Gerard?" He asked just before a wave of drowsiness swept over him. He began to sway a bit as the goblet was pulled from his hand.

"Yes. You can see him when you wake up." The nurse's voice was an echo in his ears as Frank was eased back onto his pillows. "For now, rest."

Frank wanted to protest, but his lips didn't want to move. His eyes grew so heavy that he stopped trying to open them. A sigh escaped his nostrils as he almost immediately drifted to sleep.
