Chapter 2: the move

Mrs. Rosefield blinked a couple of times out of being purely tired. She looked around the familiar sightings of the train she had boarded, the old carriage clanking along the railway. This very train (although it being very dated) was going to lead her back to her old stomping ground - where her new home in Alabama lay.

Mrs. Rosefield had to move away from the toxicity of which the city had inherited from its many countless residents. There was so much horrible things that went along with such a vibrant place which in most peoples eyes would make them question - why in Gods name would anyone want to live there!?

Which is why Mrs. Rosefield was here, in a train going back to her roots. She had glanced to her beautiful daughter - who was by chance the spitting image of her - who looked tiny compared to the large seat she had sat in. Mrs. Rosefields daughter, Serena looked at her mother with Hazel, deer like eyes.

"Still in the middle of nowhere, are we?" Mrs. Rosefield asked in her now slightly withered voice.

Serena gave a wide smile before nodding her head lightly, which made her long brown hair bounce, "yes mother" she quietly spoke.

Serena - bless her soul - wasn't much of a talker. She was always such a shy character. But with Mrs. Rosefields motherly intuition she knew something wasn't right with her daughter, which was made clear when a single tear slid down Serena's cheek.

Lightly brushing some of the long brunette locks away from Serena's face, Mrs. Rosefield hushed a bit worriedly, "honey, why are you crying?"

That is when Serena poured more tears, now fully crying, " I miss my home, I miss my friends, my school, the beautiful surroundings by the seaside, feeling freedom in the wind down at the beach, feeling like anything and everything was within my reach. I miss all it's imperfections. Mom, I miss it all!"

Mrs. Rosefield gave a soft sigh before pulling her daughter in for a sideways hug. She knew very well that there would be complication with this move as her daughter was so deep rooted to the city - just like Mrs. Rosefield had been when she made the decision to leave her home in Alabama before.

Brushing her daughters hair lightly; she cooed to her daughter, "I know honey, I know." Mrs. Rosefield let out a sad sigh, "but we need to get away from there - it wasn't the best place to try and raise you which was my fault. However, I do think you'll enjoy this place and all the adventures your going to have."

Mrs. Rosefield pulled away from Serena who gave her mother a worried glance but with a certain amount of curiosity also etched into them.

Mrs. Rosefield then continued, "its such a beautiful place - the beauty cannot be compared, you will know and see the same or when more amount of freedom. You will go to school, you will make new friends." another tear slid down Serena's face which Mrs. Rosefield quickly wiped away, "my dear, there is no need to cry."

Another tear slid from Serena's brown eyes, "but I miss it mummy." she quietly whispered.

Mrs. Rosefield gave another sideways hug, "I know dear, I miss it too. But know that we at least have eachother."

Serena sniffles, "Your right Mummy, you are always right."

After a while of hugging, Serena let out a large yawn before falling asleep in the arms of her loving mother. She ended up falling asleep on her mother's shoulder as the train carried on along the line. All the tears had let the young 16 year old to fall asleep besides her mother.

Mrs. Rosefield sat there for at least 2 hours before the train stopped and the announcer spoke out that they had finally arrived at their destination.

With a long sigh, Mrs. Rosefield lightly shook her daughter awake before collecting their luggage and leaving the train. Just out of longing the time of returning, Mrs. Rosefield insisted to - along with her daughter - to see the train off. Of which they did before it was completely out of sight.

Once it rounded the bend, Serena and Mrs. Rosefield grabbed their luggage which was on the floor and walked the short distance into the small town of Alabama.

Along the main dirt road where majority of the shops and buisnesses were, their new home was. Above the old sewing shop for repairing damage clothing and so forth - a small apartment was situated. Of which was the new home which Mrs. Rosefield and Serena were to live in.

After collecting the keys from the lovely elderly lady in the sewing shop, both Mrs. Rosefield and Serena made their way into their home at the top of the wooden staircase. To lay their luggage so that they could go exploring through their new hometown.

The small town of Alabama had gotten its two new residents of which brought the number 100 to number 102...
