Chapter 52
Back inside the house, Fah collapsed. Mint screamed. Run held onto him as his body went limp and prevented him from hitting his head on the floor.
"Move him to a bed quickly," said the doctor. Run and Mek carried Fah to Run's room and put him on the bed. The doctor administered an inhalant to revive Fah. Once Fah opened his eyes, the doctor asked him questions while checking his vital signs.
"Fah, I'm going to give you a pill. It's Xanax for panic attacks which is what you just experienced. It won't put you to sleep, it will merely relax you." Mint held out a glass of water and Fah took the pill. "If the rest of you don't mind, I would like to speak with the patient privately," said the doctor.
Everyone left the bedroom and the doctor walked over and shut the door.
"Are you surprised to see me?"
"I'm glad it's you. At least you're aware of my medical history," said Fah. "Have you heard from Lom?"
"No, I'm sorry, I haven't. I saw the news. I was surprised to learn you're the judge's son."
"That's something I discovered the day I was shot. I only knew him a few hours before getting kidnapped and losing my memory," said Fah. "Does Ton know you're here? He's trying to say I hurt Lom."
"I'm sure you didn't. You don't have the physical strength at present to do such a thing."
"Would you please tell that to the police? They're not even looking for Lom. Instead, they're focusing on me and saying I did something bad to him. He needs to be found." Fah looked beseechingly at the doctor.
"If they ask me, I'll tell them. I suggest you don't mention to Khun Adi that I'm also Khun Ton's physician. Rich people like to think they're my only client. They don't want to share me, especially not with people on the opposite side of the law."
"I won't, thank you again for your help," said Fah.
"Okay, well I've checked everything and physically you're fine. You're a little dehydrated so drink lots of water. You definitely need sleep."
"Thank you, Doctor."
"I'll tell your father I want to check on you every few days for the next two weeks to make sure you're getting better."
"Thank you." The doctor left.
Fah lay on his bed. His phone was fully charged so he tried calling Lom but his phone was still off. "Lom, where are you?" He kept repeating this until the stress of the day finally knocked him out.
Khun Adi and Mint said goodbye to the doctor and then fed everyone lunch. During lunch, Khun Adi shared what the police had accused Fah of.
"That's ridiculous, he was with us all last night!" said Mint.
"Fah had no idea he was your son until he saw the photo in your desk drawer, that's how he knew! Tin took us into that room, and Tin opened the desk. Fah couldn't have planned that!" said Run, angry at the police now.
"When I heard Ton saying Lom was a straight man it was all I could do to not tell them that I've had sex with their straight son," said Mek.
"Always trying to get your sex life to be the topic of conversation," laughed Run.
"No, but that was slander, what they said about Fah trying to seduce their straight son," said Mek.
"That's why I'm here as Fah's attorney. I think if they're aware he has an attorney, they will be more careful before they state such ridiculous things. Right now they have no evidence, they are just trying to scare Fah. I'm not sure why. It would make more sense for them to hunt for Lom." Khun Korn was truly puzzled by the actions of the police today.
Fah came out of the bedroom, rubbing his eyes. He'd slept for only thirty minutes but it had helped greatly.
"Dad, Mint, Run, I need to tell you something. You might not like it."
Everyone turned to stare at Fah.
"I know I shouldn't have done it, but I asked my ex-girlfriend, Manao, to help me. It might be childish of me, but what Ton said about me today really bothered me. I'm not ashamed to be gay but I would never go after a straight man and keep pushing him for sex, much less shoot him and abduct him for sex."
"We know that," said Mint.
"Well, Lom told me my ex-girlfriend and I hadn't broken up when he and I first had sex. She walked in and took a picture of us. A photo of Lom on top of me. He's clearly in control of the seduction, and she texted it to Ton that day. I called her and asked her to anonymously send it to the press. It was a bit awkward since I can't remember her. I found her on social media and she sent me her number. She seemed sweet and agreed to help me. Yes, it will embarrass me, but it will force them to admit they've lied. Not only to the press but to the police as well."
"That's actually a good idea," said Run.
"Well, she sent it about fifteen minutes ago so pretty soon it should be all over the internet. I never thought I'd be happy to be outed and in a nude photo but that's what my life has come to. No memory, no privacy, no Lom." He sighed. Khun Korn's phone rang.
"Hello?... Yes, Win... yes, I went to the police station with him today...yes, I'll tell him...Ohm just showed you what? Oh, a picture of Fah and Lom naked and doing it, you say? I'll search online, thanks." Khun Korn smiled at Fah. "I knew you were smart when I hired you. By the way, Win and Ohm, your coworkers, say hello, they miss you, and want you to come back to work. When you're ready of course." Khun Korn smiled at Fah.
"You're my boss?" asked Fah.
"Yes, and very happy to have you as part of our law firm."
"I might not be the best advertisement for your office right now," said Fah, a pained expression on his face. Khun Korn didn't notice as he was busy looking at his phone.
"Excuse me for saying this but you and Lom, in this picture, it could be a scene from a movie or a perfume ad. You're both in great shape and you can see the love." Khun Korn smiled. "I think this is a fantastic advertisement for our office! Do you have any idea how many people will come to see the hot, sexy guy in this photo? A lot!"
"Uncle Korn! Stop it," said Mek, laughing.
"Oh come on Mek, if you had a photo of you and Lom having sex you'd be sending it out to the press as well," teased Run.
"Mm, not after seeing Fah's photo. Uncle Korn is right, this is a beautiful photo. Very artsy and they look great," said Mek. Fah turned beet red.
"I guess my family and friends are getting to know me better than I ever planned." Fah covered his face with his hands as he sat down.
"Oh, Fah, they're right, this is a beautiful photo," said Mint.
"Mom!" said Run.
"Sweetheart, look at this and tell me if I'm wrong," said Mint as she held her phone in front of Khun Adi. Run and Mek glanced at each other.
"Fah, I'm not a gay man, but even as a straight man I can say that that is a movie-quality image, you have no reason to be embarrassed. If you weren't out, that would be one thing but really, you could turn this into a career in entertainment."
"Dad, please, be quiet, you're embarrassing me!" said Run.
"Why are you embarrassed? It's your brother, not you. Or are you jealous? Do you want me to take a photo of us and release it?" Mek teased. Run turned bright red.
"Mek, we haven't even done that yet!" said Run, unable to meet anyone's eyes.
"I do believe we all heard the word 'yet' in that sentence," said Khun Korn. Mint, Khun Korn, Khun Adi, and Mek burst out laughing. Even Fah joined in. Run shook his head in despair.
"You do seem a lot less anxious now, Fah, are you feeling better?" asked Mint.
"Xanax is the reason for my calmness right now. Tomorrow when I wake up I might freak out that my naked body is everywhere." Fah smiled at Mint. His phone chimed. Then it chimed again. He looked at it. "It says I have notifications on Instagram."
Sure enough, people had found his IG account and realized it was the same Fah as in the photo. People were asking him out on dates. Even girls. There were a few negative messages but mostly people just wanted to follow his account or date him.
"Wait a second, I need to add that photo to my IG account." Fah downloaded the image and then uploaded it as an IG post. He wrote, "I'm on the bottom. Has anyone seen my friend, Lom, the man on top? He's missing and his family and I are worried. Please DM me if you have any information. Thanks."
He smiled to himself. Aloud, he said, "I wonder how Ton and Nara will react to this photo circulating."
"Let's have some more of that cake from last night to celebrate your innocence!" said Khun Adi.
"Certainly, give me a moment," said Mint as she disappeared into the kitchen. She returned with Kwan and Tin helping her carry out plates of cake and forks. Kwan went back into the kitchen and returned with iced coffee with condensed milk for everyone.
Soon the troubles of the day faded as everyone ate and drank and talked about silly things. Fah listened and laughed along, grateful to no longer be the subject of conversation.
"Fah, I was wondering," said Khun Korn, "if tomorrow you would like to visit the office. It might trigger some memories. Win and Ohm, your coworkers, are worried about you and miss you. You wouldn't have to do any work, just come for a few minutes to say hello. Your job will be waiting for you until you're ready to return. There's no pressure. Don't worry about missing work, your health should be your main priority. Mek can give you a ride tomorrow."
"It could be fun Fah! We reconnected at a party at Win and Ohm's house. Run, do you want to come along? We could visit the office and then go out to lunch together. There are all types of restaurants in that area."
"Okay, sure. That is if it's okay with you, Fah," Run asked.
"It's okay with me. I get nervous being around people I can't remember so it would help having you two with me."
"Alright, it's settled. Tomorrow at 10 I'll pick you both up," said Mek. Run and Fah smiled at each other.
The group chatted and laughed together for several hours until Khun Korn and Mek said they had to leave. When they exited the house they were happy to see there were no reporters outside. Fah went to lie down for a few minutes and ended up sleeping until the next morning.
