Rin's P.O.V.

I woke up before getting up and dressed. I wore a white t-shirt, red plaid button up that I left unbuttoned, my binder, and jeans. I picked up Kimi and my sword before going downstairs where Yukio and dad were eating breakfast. I put my sword next to my backpack and duffel bag, which was by the front door, and I set Kimi down in her swing seat. Then I got a plate before sitting down at the table with them. After we were done eating, I washed the dishes before collapsing her swing seat and putting it in my duffel bag. I put on the baby holder, which I had set on my duffel bag, before putting Kimi in it so that she was against my chest. I fed Kimi with a bottle as well. I told dad goodbye before he left. I picked up my backpack, sword, and duffel bag before Yukio took me to where the bus was. I also had Kuro with me because it was a mission.

"Oh good morning. Got a last minute student?" It was the gym teacher. Great, this mission was gonna be all over the place.

"Yes, my brother is going to the beach with you since the other exwire missions are full." Yukio explained as we walked up to the bus.

"Okay, come on in." He said before walking inside the bus. He was a little to happy for me, like in an unsettling way. Almost like Mephisto.

"Bye." I said as I hugged Yukio with one arm.

"Bye." He said as he patted my back.

"Don't burn down the dorm or starve to death while I'm gone." I said as I let go of the hug.

"I won't. Don't do anything to bad while you're there."

"I won't." I said before walking into the bus. Shima and Izumo immediately noticed me.

"Where the hell have you been?!" Izumo asked.

"We were worried about you!" Shima said.

"I wasn't! I was almost sure you went and died like an idiot!"

"Guys, I'm fine, I swear. I was just dealing with some personal stuff, but I'm back for good this time. That's why I'm going in the mission with you two." I said before putting my duffel bag in the over hang. Then I sat in the seats across from Shima. I sat in the seat by the window before putting my backpack under the chair in front of me, I also put my sword against the chair next to me. Kuro laid down in the seat next to me to take a nap. Then I rested against the wall with my hands on Kimi. Kimi was playing with my shirt and my plaid button up. When I woke up, we were at the beach. So, I got my backpack and sword before standing up and getting my duffel bag out from the over hang. As we walked out from the bus, Shima seemed to have a pep in his step while holding onto the satraps of his backpack.

"Why are you so happy?" Izumo asked. She had her duffel bag on her shoulder.

"I just really love the ocean." Shima replied.

"Now remember, we're here for a mission. Not on a vacation." Our teacher said as he got of the bus.

"What is the mission anyway?" I asked.

"Collecting seaweed for demon warding potions."

"Really?" Shima said.

"Yep, so we have to leave our bags at the inn we're staying at. Then we'll have to get to it." He said before we walked to the inn. We just set our bags in a random room, I kept my backpack with me because it had Kimi's stuff in it, before going to a bridge. "You'll need these!" He said as he held up some baskets. I set down my backpack before we all put the the baskets, they were pretty much like backpacks. "Now, all you have to do is fill up the baskets with seaweed. Then you'll be done. It'll probably be hard to fill your own basket, so you should probably put them in another's basket."

"Shouldn't be that hard." Shima said before taking off his flip flops and putting them next to our teacher to look after, they were where my backpack was. Izumo did the same thing before they both walked off the bridge to get to the little river. They had both also rolled up their sleeves.

"Um, sir?" I said.

"Yes, Okumura?" He responded.

"You're probably gonna have to hold onto Kimi for me because I don't think it's a good idea to bring her down there with me. Otherwise I'll probably have to sit out of this, which I really don't want to with all that I've missed."

"Fine, give her here." He said before I took off the holder. I put it on him, so that Kimi was on his back. I didn't exactly trust him with having Kimi on his chest like me. Once Kimi was settled, I picked my basket back up before putting my flip flops next to Shima's and Izumo's and going to the little river. Kuro also stayed with my backpack and our shoes.

After we collected seaweed until our baskets were full, we got out of the river before putting our flip flops back on. I also got Kimi back from our teacher and put my backpack on my chest. I had Kimi on my back while carrying the basket of seaweed in my arms and having my backpack on my chest. Kuro started walking behind me. Shima seemed to want to say something until I finally spoke up about it.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Y-Yeah, why w-wouldn't I be?" He stuttered.

"Because you keep trying to talk to me before shutting yourself down and repeating that."

"Just that basket looks heavy an you have Kimi and a backpack. So, I was trying to ask if you wanted me to take the basket for you."

"I'm fine. I'm half demon and that comes with more strength. So, this is not that as hard for me then it looks. Besides I've carried groceries heavier then this."

"Shouldn't Yukio help you then? Since you two live in the same dorm all alone."

"He tries, but he gets caught up with missions, work, and school. Besides I did grocery shopping by myself all the time when we lived at the monastery. I just got used to it over time."

"Okay, if you say so." He said before we got to the inn. We set the baskets in what I guess was a dinning room.

"We have another task to do after a 15 minute break." Our teacher said. With that time, I just feed Kimi with a bottle. It wasn't that I was uncomfortable breast feeding with them around. I was just trying to get Kimi used to having bottles because she was getting bigger and might start teething soon. I just didn't want to be a victim of the teeth coming in. After that, we left the inn again. I had my backpack on my chest and Kimi on my back again. As well as my sword on my shoulder.

"Can I take your backpack this time?" Shima asked as we were walking. He seemed concerned again this time.

"Okay, fine." I said before giving him my backpack. He put it on his shoulders before we made it to a little shop. It was small and seemed to sell fish goods. It also seemed to be closed right now.

"Why are we were, sir? I don't really like it." Izumo said.

"Do we have to clear out some demons so the workers and open up again?" Shima asked.

"Nope, you're gonna be running this place for the day." Our teacher replied.

"Huh?" We all said in unison.

"You three are gonna be selling the cooked fish today. How to cook them is in the shop. Good luck." He said before giving me a pair of keys and walking off.

"Are fucking kidding me?" I asked.

"We might as well get started before he gets back." Izumo said before I unlocked the door with the keys. We walked inside before going to the freezer where there was only squid and nothing else. We didn't think to much of it before pulling them out and cooking them on the grill. Izumo helped me cooked them as Shima cleaned up the place. After they were cooked, we all moved the squid and grill outside where the beach was. We did that to hopefully help sell the squid better. Shima had put my backpack on a wall hook so that it wouldn't get in the way. Kuro stayed with us though.

"Do we want to take turns going on breaks or suffer here together the entire time?" Shima asked.

"Taking breaks sounds better." Izumo replied.

"What do you think, Rin?"

"I'm fine with taking breaks." I responded.

"Okay, you want to go first?"

"Why? We just started."

"Well, you're the one with a baby and cooked the squid."

"I'll be fine. One of you can go first."

"Okay. Ladies first?" He said to Izumo.

"Sure." She said before walking off.

"This sucks." Shima said as he sat on the ground and sighed. "Go figure we'll get selling squids at the shop all day."

"Step on up folks! Our squid is so good, it melts in your mouth. You won't mind selling soul for a taste!" I said as I held up to squids on a stick. I was trying to convince people to actually buy our squid. Though I made sure they were actually good.

"In the face of tragedy, you're still in high spirts." Shima said as he looked up at me.

"I don't mind doing things like this. The thing is..."

"The things is we're lacking customers."

"I don't know what we're doing wrong. The squid looks really good."

"They sure smell tasty! Can I have one, Rin? Please!!!" Kuro said as he jumped on to the table next to the grill.

"Sorry, buddy. They're for sell, I can't." I said before he looked sad and put his head down.

"That's your familiar, right? The cat sídhe." Shima said as he stood up.

"Yeah, I brought him with me because they said it was a mission."

"Mission my ass. They say they need seaweed for demon warding potions, sure. They got us working retail, man!"

"Did you know that this shop and the place we're staying at is owned by old sideburns' wife?" I said before Shima sighed and sat back down again.

"This sucks so hard. Bon and Koneko went to Tamagwa to hunt for baryons. I'm starting to think they were the lucky ones. I don't think we're really gonna sell anything unless a cute girl stands by the shop with us."

"Shima-"

"How come Izumo isn't out here suffering with us?" Shima said as he laid in the sand. "The least she could do is suck it up for an hour. But she isn't what you would call a team player." He said as he starched his arms above his head.

"Excuse me?" Izumo said as Shima started to look scared. She was in her swim suit, but had a hoodie on over it. She also had a pool float with her. Shima immediately stood up too.

"Hey, there. You look really good in that hoodie." He said with a nervous tone of voice.

"What's your problem? I helped you grill those squids, didn't I? Besides I'm not really the girl that works retail." She said before starting to walk off.

"You have a point. Go enjoy yourself the water is probably great today." He said as he put his hand behind his head.

"Don't worry I will." She said before going to the ocean.

"That's our girl. She's all tsun with no dere. Why didn't tell me that she was there?" Shima asked as he turned to me.

"I tried, but you kept talking." I responded

"How long was she there?"

"Long enough to hear about Bon and Konekomaru going to go get baryons." I said before he sighed again.

"I really screwed that up."

"Yeah, you did." I said as he came over to the counter where Kuro was. "Going back to the cute girl idea. We probably can't get Izumo to do it, but maybe you could get some girls over here by yourself." I said as I playfully jabbed him.

"Maybe you could too. Some girls might like you too." He said as he playfully jabbed me back. "Wait you probably won't be comfortable with that."

"It's okay, I knew what you meant. I just never really liked the beach even before I figured out I was trans. People would give me weird looks and I become more uncomfortable about it over time. I didn't really find swimming that fun either."

"Not your dad and teach, right?"

"No, they didn't find me weird. Come to think of it dad never swam either, just me and Yukio."

"Mm. Maybe we can get your cat sídhe to bring in some customers." Shima said as he scratched Kuro behind his ears. Which he purred at.

"Maybe."

"Good work, boys'! I'm really blessed to have such good students under my wing. By the way how's business?" Our teacher said as he caught up to us. He was out of his exorcist uniform and was in shorts, a button up shirt with a flower pattern, and a hat. He also had a fan to cool himself down with. We both just kinda groaned at him.

"Ahhhh!" We heard a female voice yell.

"What was that?" Shima asked as he perked up and stop scratching Kuro. Which Kuro pawed at his hand to get him to start scratching again.

"It was Izumo!" I shouted as I saw Izumo in the distance. She was trying to grab at her keg, which was probably a leg cramp. "Hold her." I said as I set down the squid and gave Kimi to Shima. I also left my flip flops at the shop. My motherly instincts kicked in as I started running to the edge of the water.

"Rin, hold on!" Shima shouted after me.

"Oh my!" Our teacher said. When I got to her float, there was a young boy that was laying head first on the float while she was passed out with her head back. I didn't think much about it as I pushed and pulled the float back to the shore before picking them up one at a time to set them on the sand. I got a closer look at them and saw that they both and red spots on their foreheads, they probably head butted.

"Wh-What happened?!" The boy said as he sat up.

"You passed out on my friend's float and I brought you both back to shore before you browned." I said as he stood up.

"I was trying to help her, but she yelled and head butted me instead."

"It's okay. Thank you for helping her." I said as I ruffled his hair.

"Does she need CPR? She's not waking up." He said before I checked her for a pulse on her neck.

"She's still breathing. She'll probably wake up in a few minutes." I said before she woke up and sat up.

"Hey, you feeling okay?" The boy asked as he got kinda close to her face. I was gonna say something before she head butted his chin. He groaned as he held his chin. "What hell? I was just trying to see if you were okay."

"Don't give me that! You grab my boobs, you beat me, and now you wanna kiss me?" She said a she crossed her arms over her chest.

"I was just trying to save your life. Quit being a hard headed jerk!"

"I'm hard headed? How did I get this lump on my head?" She said as she pointed to her forehead.

"Yeah? Well, my chin is worse then-" He said before suddenly stoping med sentence and got a little closer, but as close as he was when Izumo hit his chin.

"What?!" She said as she put her hand down an back over her chest.

"You know, you really pretty." He said as Izumo blushed.

"Yeah, but what do you know you're just a kid." She said as they both stood up. He was only up her stomach.

"I'm not a kid! I'm Yohei!"

"Hey!" Shima shouted. Our teacher and Kuro was with him too. He panted when he caught up to us and bent down to catch his breath. "Nether of you do that again. Especially you Rin. Do you know how lucky you are?" He said as he stood back up.

"Rin?" Izumo asked herself before looking at me. "How long have you been there?!"

"I'm the one that got you and Yohei out of the water when you both passed out."

"Where is he anyway? Did he leave or something?" Shima asked, he was teasing Yohei.

"I'm right here!" He shouted at Shima.

"Oh, you so small I didn't notice you."

"Says the one with a baby in their arms!"

"She's in my arms, so I notice her."

"Oh, yeah?! My dad says a man can be small and be a man as long as he's big where it counts!" Yohei said before Izumo gasped and blushed.

"D-Don't say things like that!" She said.

"Why not? You don't like guys with big hearts or something?" He asked as he looked back at Izumo.

"Yeah what did you think he meant? He's heart is really big." I teased her before a lot of people started crowding up on the dock.

"Wonder what's going on there." Shima said before Yohei  ran towards the crowd.

"Hey, wait up." I said before we ran after him. When we got to the dock, we saw that most of the ocean was ink black. "What is that?"

"Whatever it is it can't be good." Shima said.

"It's a demon." Said a elderly man that was next to us.

"Huh?" We said.

"It's said when the sea turn black as ink, a demon the size of a small mountain shall appear. And destroy everything." He continued.

"Where did you hear that?" I asked.

"It's a legend passed down for generations. I'll show you." He said before we followed him to a temple in the forest. Yohei went somewhere else though. Izumo also put her hoodie back on, but left her float behind. There was a painting of a big squid in the temple too.

"What is that?"

"It's a votive tablet. For 400 years our temple's priest made it." The old man explained.

"That's a big squid, like really big." Shima said.

"The sea has turned black from that monster."

"Isn't it just a story?" Izumo asked.

"I wish it was, but it's true. This happened six months ago, the ocean turned black and a fisher man set out to drive away the demon. However, he hasn't returned." He finished before we left and went back to the shop so that we could get our stuff back and so I could feed Kimi because she was starting to get angry with me. Like my backpack, my flip flops, and Izumo's actual clothes. Shima kept Kimi on his chest while I had my backpack on my back and Kuro on my shoulder. Then we started walking back to the inn.

"This really does suck. We're hearing about demons this far from school. And this also after we had to deal with the Impure King too." Shima said as we were walking. The sky had turned into a pretty set of yellows, reds, and oranges.

"I mean, demons are everywhere in the world. So, it makes sense that demons would be here." I said as I looked back at Shima. Then I bumped into something.

"Ow. Watch where you're going!" Yohei said as we looked down at him.

"Oh, our little friend is back." Shima said.

"We were worried about you after you left, you know. Where did you disappear to?" I said.

"Now where." Yohei said as he turned away from me and crossed his arms.

"No where, huh? Man, you are one hard headed kid." I said as I put a hand above my stomach.

"You're telling me." Izumo said.

"Does your head still hurt?" Yohei asked her.

"Yeah, of course it does!"

"I'm sorry."

"You had to see us coming towards you right? You couldn't of moved or warned us?" I asked.

"No way! My dad told me that a man only walks a straight path and that's all that I was doing."

"I don't think you're old man meant that literally. And if anyone does that you're bound to get lost." Shima said.

"Do any of you know where the pet store is?" Yohei asked as he turned around to look at us.

"Huh?" We all said.

"I need to get to the pet store. I drew a map to the pet store, but I can't find it." He said as he pulled out a not so well drawn map.

"Yeah..." I started.

"Yeah, what? You have a problem with that?"

"No, we'll take you." I said before we all brought him to the pet store. He got a small bag of dog food with his own money.

"It still blows my mind that we had to give directions to one of the locals." Izumo said as we walked out of the store.

"She's right. Haven't you been here before?" I said as we continued walking.

"Yeah, but my dog is sick." Yohei said.

"Your dog? So, when you need to go to the pet store, your dog is the one that takes you there?" Izumo questioned.

"Yeah, so what?"

"I knew it, you're challenged with directions." Shima said as he put his arms over his head.

"I don't mean to brag, but my dad is on a whole other level. He was like totally challenged with directions."

"That's not really something to brag about. Anyway, why does everything go back to your dad?" Izumo said before we stoped.

"Because he was pretty awesome."

"You mean he's..."

"Six months ago he shipped out to kill that thing, but never back home."

"You mean that fisher man was your dad?" I asked.

"So, that thing that he after..." Shima said as he put his arms down.

"The demon of the deep seas. That's what they say that killed my dad." Yohei said before hugging the bag of dog food on an angry way. "I sweared that I would find it and kill it." He said before we walked him back home. After we did, we walked back to inn. Shima could tell that I was uneasy though.

"You okay?" He asked as we walked.

"Just worried about the kid. He shouldn't have all that anger and try to killed something he doesn't know a lot about. I just hope that his mom was home to take of him. If not, I'm just even more worried." I said.

"It'll be okay. I'm sure his mom is doing the best she can. Maybe she just works long hours, so that leaves him to take care of himself a lot." He said as he put his hand on my shoulder, the one that Kuro wasn't on.

"Thanks." I said before he took his hand off my shoulder and we got back to the inn. We walked in the door before taking off our shoes and Izumo went to go change. Me and Shima walked into the dinning area before seeing that the table was full of food. A few minutes later our teacher came out of the kitchen and Izumo came to the dinning area. I got out Kimi's swing seat and set it up before getting her from Shima and putting her in it. The seat was next to me and the others sat at the table.

"Thanks for all your hard work! Dig in!" Our teacher said. The table was full of just squid dishes, which was weird.

"Ew, everything here has squid in it." Izumo said.

"That's right bone-appa-tet."

"Yeah, but this JUST squid. Do we have anything besides squid?" I said.

"No, we don't. You know why? Because that's all anyone can catch. It's driving everyone squidly!" Our teacher said before Shima and Izumo groaned at his pun. "On the plus side you can all squid out all you want." He said before I sighed. He was smiling happy with himself that he made those puns.

"That's why no one bought our squid, figures." I said before we ate everything. When we were done, we stacked the dishes and I feed Kimi. I didn't have anymore milk bags to put in a bottle for her, so I had to breast feed her under a blanket to cover myself. We told our teacher about the demon before he got a book before opening it to a picture of a giant squid.

"The Kraken?" Shima said.

"If we're talking about an ink spewing demon of the sea, that's my guess. In this book, 'the history of Norway', there's a description of the sea turning black from it's ink before it showed up." Our teacher explained.

"So, that's the reason why people can't catch anything but squid. Okay, we figured out that this is the Kraken's doing. But is there anyway to kill it?"

"Someone must Now the demon of the deep seas fatal verse. It's believed to be Ephesians chapter 1 verse 18. Other then that I don't know. I'm afraid you're little friend can't kill it by himself." Our teacher finished before me and Izumo looked worried and his phone started ringing. He looked at the number before blushing and walking out of the room.  "What is it, honey? What again? Don't worry kitty cat I'm on my way." He said before hanging up. We had followed him out of the room, but stayed behind the door frame. Kimi had gotten done, so I was trying to burp her against my shoulder.

"Uhhh, something came up, so I have to go for a little bit. You can take the day off tomorrow. We hired a proper employee to work the shop tomorrow." He said as he started walking towards the front door.

"What's he mean 'proper employee'? What are we place holders?" Izumo said.

"And who the hell is kitty cat? Is it his wife or a mistress?" I said.

"I mean at least we don't have to do any work." Shima said.

"Oh, one more thing. I want you three to make sure that Yohei boy doesn't go anywhere near that demon. You're babysitting tomorrow. Bye bye!" He said before walking out.

"Well, I guess that's that." Shima said as we sat back at the table. Kimi had burped, but I was still gently rubbing her back.

"So, who wants to do dishes or take a bath first?" Izumo asked.

"I'll do dishes. One of you can take a bath first." I said before I started to stand up.

"No, we'll do the dishes. You can take the first bath." Shima said.

"Yeah, I basically have to agree with him this one time. You were gone for a week and now you're working your butt off without a break."

"Yeah, you're the one who needs a break more the us because you're a parent."

"Okay, fine. I'll take a bath instead. Guessing you two are gonna watch over Kimi?" I said.

"Yep."

"Okay then." I said before I went to set her in her swing seat.

"I want to hold her instead." Izumo said with her arms out for her.

"You can." I said before walking over to Izumo and giving her Kimi to hold. "Make sure to hold her head." I said as I helped her hold Kimi. "Okay I'll go take a bath now." I said before walking out of the room and going to the big bedroom where our bags are. I got my pajamas and hygiene stuff before going to the bathroom. I closed the door behind me when I got there and set down my stuff. I took off all my clothes and put a towel around my body before turning on the water. When it was warm enough, I took the towel off before getting in. I sighed as I sat down in the water. With everything that's going on, I feel like I've haven't felt relaxed in forever.

When I was done, I got out of the bath and drained he water before drying off and putting on my pajamas. I was walking back to the big bedroom where our bags were, when there was a multiple knocks at the door. I opened the door before seeing Yohei.

"Hey what's up?" He said.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at home?" I asked.

"I came to give the girl some ointment for her head because she said it still hurt. My dad used to take it out to sea with him all the time." He said as I noticed the little tub in his hands.

"Okay, you want to come give to her yourself?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, come in." I said before he followed me inside. He did leave his flip flops at the door though. Izumo was still in the dinning room while Shima was in the kitchen cleaning the dishes. She had put Kimi in her swing seat and was letting her hold her finger. She did notice us walk in.

"Um, I came to give you this for you head. It'll help where I head butted you." He said as he held it out to her.

"Thanks." She said as she picked it up out of his hands and set it on the table.

"I also might need help getting back home."

"I'll walk you back." She said as she stood up. Anxiety set in me as she said that. Mainly because of what I went though.

"I'll walk with you guys too." I said before they turned to look at me.

"Why?"

"It's dangerous to walk alone."

"She wouldn't be alone. I would be with her."

"Yeah, but she'll be alone walking back."

"Oh yeah, you're right. Come on then." He said before walking to the front door with Izumo behind him.

"Shima?" I called for him.

"Yeah?" He called back before I saw him poke his head out of the kitchen door way.

"Can you watch Kimi until we get back?" I asked as I set my stuff on the table.

"Sure."

"Thanks." I said before going to the front door. And we put our flip flops back on before walking out the door.
