A single father. His son is named Nicholas but his nickname is Nick. His wife died giving birth to Nick. John is a Doctor at North Mississippi Hospital. Nick is in 10th grade at Tupelo High school as well as the quarterback for the football team.

Nick is a bit of a popular kid with many "friends" but has 3 true friends whom he considers as brothers: Mike Jones the receiver on the team, Harry Garder who's a bit of a nerd and the coach's son. He helps with the game strategies but is still kind of shy. Finally Alex Wagner the school prankster even though he pranks everyone in school he still gets good grades.
