Chapter 12

Jeff's pov

I walked alongside Jack with Naomi slung over my shoulder. I was grinning even wider than usual. I heard Jack chuckle beside me.

"You're in quite the cheery mood," he said.

"Yeah, cause I totally beat this bitch."

"I'm surprised you didn't kill her... or at least try to kill her."

I sighed. "I was planning to, but then I thought, 'I'd lose the best rival ever'. Plus, you and Slender would be all over my ass."

"True, I believe capturing her was the best option. Too bad the other one got away."

"Tell me about it, I'd definitely like to find out how she gave Naomi that healing power. Could've been quite useful for us, don't cha think?"

He shrugged. "I suppose. I really don't think we'd be able to get her to do something like that for us though."

It grew quiet and I found myself thinking of Naomi. "You know, Naomi's actually kinda cute when she's not waving a knife around."

Jack seemed to laugh at that. "Don't get too attached now, Jeff. You never know when she'll wake up and stab you in the back."

I rolled my eyes. "I was only saying. Besides, I got her knife. She's not gonna do a thing."

We walked deep into the forests until we finally saw the mansion in the distance. I inwardly groaned at the fact that Slender will be all over us despite our victory. Maybe he'll be too interested in the information we gathered to care. I, for one, sure hope so.

Selene's pov

After cleaning the blood away from my wound, I pressed my palm against it, slowly healing it with my magic. Fang, Saber, Latte, Bella, and Edward all sat by, watching with worry.

"I'm sorry," I apologized to them. "We failed... I failed. This was my fault. I hadn't worked everything out like I should have."

I knew Naomi's pets were upset that she was gone and I felt completely responsible for it. I allowed this to happen.

"Don't worry," I calmly told them. "Once I am prepared, I will free Naomi from the clutches of those monsters."

That's right. They took Naomi, they took one of my crystals, but just let them think they've won. Just you wait, Jack, Jeff, I will return to take back what is mine.

Naomi's pov

My eyes snapped open. I looked all around, groaning slightly at the pain in the back of my head. I was sitting in a dark, unfamiliar room. I tried to move but found that my arms and legs were tied up.

"Where the hell am I?" I muttered.

That's when my memories came flooding back. Selene got hurt and I was knocked out. With my eyes adjusting to the darkness, I could now tell that I was in a basement of sorts. I didn't see Selene anywhere, so I assumed she escaped.

I sat quietly, feeling the cold brick against my back. It wasn't long before I heard the door at the top of the stairs open. I heard multiple footsteps followed by the lights coming on.

I blinked my eyes at the sudden brightness. Now in the room with me stood Jeff, Jack, Masky, Hoodie, and a tall, faceless man in a suit.

"Welcome, Naomi," the faceless one spoke in a deep voice. "I am Slenderman."

"I don't care," I snapped angrily.

"You should," he replied. "Your life is now in my hands."

I snorted with laughter. "Oh please, you can't kill me."

"We'll just see about that."

My laughter ceased when I heard a low static noise in my head. It slowly grew louder and louder until it hurt. I squeezed my eyes shut and squirmed around, suppressing any and all cries of pain that wanted to escape my lips.

Finally, after a few agonizing minutes, the static finally faded away. I gazed up at Slenderman, now understanding why Selene found him to be so dangerous. He can't physically harm me, but he can mentally.

"Now I've heard about your friend, Selene. Would you mind explaining more to us?" he asked calmly.

I only glared up at him. "I'm not telling you anything. I won't let you hurt her."

"I assure you, I don't want to harm either of you. But your defiance led to you both being attacked. Now if you tell me where to find your friend, I will make sure she is brought here without a scratch."

"Like I'd trust you," I answered. "I will never give her away! Not to you, not to anyone!"

My anger was steadily rising. How dare they even think that I'd just tell them whatever they wanted to know. I'm not a gullible idiot.

"Naomi, are you okay?"

My eyes widened and a small smile spread across my lips. "Selene? I'm so glad to hear your voice!" I said, not caring that everyone was staring at me. "It's okay, I'm fine."

I noticed Jeff take a step forward before Slenderman stopped him. "I can hear her voice as well," he said to him. "Let them speak."

What is he, a mind reader? "Selene, everyone is here listening."

She chuckled. "I know, it doesn't matter. I simply wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Make sure you be careful, these psychos want to find you," I said while sending them all a glare.

"Let them try. I have my own ways of protecting myself. Don't worry, Naomi, I'll find a way to free you."

With that being said, her voice faded. "That was an interesting conversation," Slender said. "Thank you for your time, Naomi."

Slender disappeared before my eyes. Masky and Hoodie swiftly left me as well. Jeff and Jack both seemed hesitant, but eventually followed the other two men up the stairs.

"Better watch out, you two!" I called, stopping Jeff and Jack before they left. "Selene took some of your blood, there's no telling what she could do to you now!"

They both glanced back at me before leaving the room. I chuckled. That ought to put them on edge for awhile. Besides, it's not like I'm lying. Selene is probably cooking up something for them right about now.

Selene's pov

What should I begin with? I don't think I'll do any harm... at least not yet. I think I'll start with a simple test. I took a few herbs and spices from my shelves and sat in front of the small fire.

I started with Jeff's vial. I opened it and sprinkled the ground up ingredients in. I closed the vial again and shook it around a bit, mixing everything together.

I then stared at it, seeing that it remained the same. Jeff is normal, no special traits or powers in him. I repeated the process with Jack's vial. His dark blood remained the same as well.

I set the vials down and stood, going over to the shelves once more. I looked over all the different items I had. I glanced back at the vials only to see the blood inside changing colors.

I gasped and slowly walked back over to them. I crouched and picked up Jeff's vial, now seeing that his blood had lightened in color. Inspecting it closer, it seemed to lighten even more.

I held it back again and watched it darken. After a moment of thought, I dug into the small pouch on my belt and pulled out the golden hair from Naomi.

I held the hair almost right next to the vial. The blood inside turned a pastel pink color in reaction. With my eyes wide with shock, I slowly put away the hair and set down the vial.

My eyes were now fixed on Jack's vial. Just reaching my hand toward it made it lighten drastically. Picking it up, the nearly black blood turned a vibrant crimson color.

How is this possible?! This is unheard of! Jeff and Naomi?! Jack and me?! I... I don't believe this! I refuse to believe that those two would be chosen for us!

It doesn't matter anyway. They can't be trusted. They're our enemies, and even the spirits can't change that. Enough of this nonsense, I have a friend to rescue.
