Kaye, a descendant of Segunda Katigbak, begrudgingly accompanies her mother to Casa de Segunda in Batangas to help manage their ancestral home-turned-museum. While exploring the Casa, Kaye suddenly found herself in the year 1870, where she met the 14-year-old Segunda Katigbak. There, she spent her time getting to know her great-grandmother and even began meeting other prominent Filipino historical figures, including Jose Rizal and his sister, Olimpia.

Will Kaye ever return to her own time? Or will she remain and change history as we know it?

This was originally entitled "A Hero's First Love", which was meant to capture the whole essence of the story. After it was rewritten in 2024, it underwent rounds of revision, where I ultimately changed the title to "Fated Encounters" to prevent it from totally giving away the story.

This will be far from the genre I'm trying to build now (also the reason why it's just a short story), although I still want to share this story I have conceptualized when I was a child (around 2009). Enjoy!
