"hide! now!" clementine shouted to the group, who was clearly panicking, after the first gunshot. everyone ran to a different directions, hiding all around the front yard, except clem and you. the two of you helped to drag omar behind one of the flipped picnic tables. "open up, kids!" a deep, masculine voice loudly called out from behind the front gate, followed by a burning molotov cocktail being thrown. "this doesn't have to get any uglier!" the same voice shouted.

"my bow!" noticing her missing weapon, clem hissed under her breath. "go, go. i-i'll be a right." omar attempted to assure clementine, while tightly clutching onto his bleeding leg. at the sight, you couldn't help but bit your lower lip and furrow your brows, before carefully placing your hand on top of omar's shoulder in a poor attempt to comfort him. "you don't have much time, go!" omar raised his voice, causing clem to quickly nod her head and run for her bow. more gunshots followed by the banging on the front gate echoed through in your ears, as you could feel the adrenaline rushing through your system.

the gate burst open, sending a shiver down your spine, when the raiders made their way inside, harshly gripping their own weapons. "the fuck is all this?" one of the man muttered in confusion, looking around. "focus. they're just scarecrows." another raider added. "spread out." upon hearing the women's voice, you peeked from behind the table you were still hiding behind, causing the breath inside your throat to hitch. there stood your sister. "lilly! move and i'll shoot!" swiftly revealing herself, clementine loudly called out, getting the raider's attention. clem pointed her bow at the woman's head, earning the raider's guns to be pointed at her.

"where's our new recruits?" raising her hand in the air to stop the others from shooting, lilly demanded. without a second thought, you stood up, also revealing yourself. "they're not yours!" you shouted back, as you slowly made your way closer to clementine. even from afar, you could see lilly's eyes widen and that's exactly what you needed. a distraction. "thought you'd be happier to see me." you remarked, earning a glare from the woman. as hard as you tried, you couldn't believe that was your sister. your own family.

"search the yard." lilly demanded, "if clementines moves, shoot her. the second one, on the other hand, i want them alive." her eyes didn't dare to leave you ever since you showed up. "what the fuck?" furrowing his brows in confusion, a man with one arm growled, but lilly silenced him. "can't believe you've made it this far. i always thought you'd be the first one to die." at lilly's words, you only gripped your katana even harder, anger building up inside you. "we'll find them. and then we'll take them, you and even the little boy." lilly objected, as the rest of the raider's started to slowly look around the front yard.

"you might not wanna move around so much. you might trigger a trap." clementine warned them. "you're bluffing." slightly shaking her head from side to side, lilly announced. "oh, you think so? take another step and find out." you acclaimed, almost challenging expression on your face. "or fucking leave. can't you read?" clem added, motioning to the large banter behind her with the words 'leave or die' written on it. "you've changed." placing one of her hands on her hip, lilly retorted. "i grew up." clementine quickly replied. "i can see that. god, you are just like him." letting out a low groan, lilly started, "lee would've been heartbroken, knowing he taught you all the wrong things."

"he taught me how to survive. how to kill." still pointing her bow at lilly, clem claimed. "yeah, some job he did. he still died, clementine." lilly almost rolled her eyes. her cold gaze then switched to you, something in her demeanour slightly changing. "y/n, why don't you join your sister? we can teach you how to truly survive." lilly announced, yet got no response from you, only an angry glare. "come join your real family." almost as offering her hand to you, lilly pleaded, but you weren't having it. "i am with my real family." you corrected, which made lilly more mad. if looks could kill, you'd drop dead a while ago with the amount of anger lilly was looking at you with.

"if you won't help me find the others, i'll find someone, who will. we've recruited from this school before." lilly announced. "minnie wanted to come along tonight. to tell you how well she's adjusted to our life. how happy she is." raising her voice so the rest could hear her words, lilly continued, "she said she had a girlfriend back here. friends she missed. one guy, he could always make her laugh, no matter what." you bit the inside of your cheek, finding it more and more difficult to stay still. "and her little brother. she misses him the most."

from the corner of your eye, you noticed tennessee crouching near a pile of random, old furniture, strange expression across his face. but before you could shake your head in disagreement to whatever he was thinking about, tenn stood up, coming out of his hiding place. "where are they?" tenn asked, after walking up to lilly. "let me take you to them." slowly making her way closer to the younger boy. lilly offered. "i can't. i just want them back, please." tenn slightly raised his hands in the air, backing up now that the woman was getting closer to him. "you'll be happier where they are. they miss you." lilly objected.

"don't listen to her, tenn! you know she's lying! she stole your sisters and took the away from you, their home!" clementine shouted, startling tenn. when tenn wasn't paying to the woman next to him, staring at clem and you instead, lilly saw that as an opportunity, harshly grabbing the younger boy by his shoulder, while pulling out her smaller knife at the same time, lilly pressed tenn's back against her own frame and held the knife close to his face. the scene went quiet for a moment, right before a rather big explosion happened, startling the raiders and their horses.

"shit! shit!" lilly groaned, after the explosion caused her to drop tenn aside and fall on the ground within seconds. clementine raised her bow and shot at lilly without a second doubt, but missed, which caused one of the raiders shoot at clem. luckily, she hid behind the picnic table once again, dodging the bullet, as you copied her actions, back leaned against the table and not facing the scene. not only that was happening, but after noticing lilly on the ground, mitch decided to make a run for it, thinking lilly's defenceless. oh, how wrong he was. as soon as mitch was about to tackle lilly down, she stood up with a knife in her hand, stabbing mitch in his throat. "goddammit." shaking her head from side to side, lilly groaned, before pushing mitch's body aside. jumping on top of him, lilly stabbed mitch once again, this time in the head, killing him.

"mitch, mitch! no!" at the loud cries of willy from the other side of the yard, you confusingly furrowed your brows, before looking over the picnic table and seeing the dead body. eyes widening, your heart skipped a beat and your system burned with rage. "kill who you have to! take the rest!" lilly demanded and the raiders started shooting at the rest of the group. you watched as clementine shot one of them in the thigh with an arrow, causing him to fall to the ground. "now! go back!" clem shouted. following her orders, the two of you ran up to the rest of the group, ready to enter the admin building.

when you got to the front porch, you couldn't help but stumble. but before you could loose your footing, two hands helped you keep your balance. looking up, you were met with a familiar pair of green eyes and a worried expression. "are you okay?!" placing your hands each side of violet's arms and quickly searching her for any injuries, you questioned the blonde over all the loud noises. "y/n, we need to go inside!" violet demanded, as she grabbed your hand and started dragging you towards the entrance in a hurry. "good luck!" slowly backing up, you called out to her with a small, anxious smile on your face, before pulling up your bandanna and disappearing into the darkness. "y/n? y/n!" shouting at you, violet was about to run after you, but a hand caught onto her clothes and pulled her inside the building.

"they're still outside!" violet told louis, confused about why you didn't follow them inside. "y/n's smart. they probably have an idea—" the brunette quickly explained in an attempt to assure violet at least a little bit and he was right. you had an idea. not noticing you sneaking away and departing from the rest of the group, the raiders continued to make their way inside the admin building. your plan was to creep around and eliminate as much raiders as possible on your own.

loud sounds came from inside the admin building, but you chose to ignore it and continued to sneak around the front yard. it didn't take you too long to notice a man, his back facing you, while gripping a rifle in his hands. you carefully looked from side to side, before crouching down and quietly walking up to him. just as you were about to raise your katana and kill him, the man swiftly turned around, hitting you with his weapon and causing you to fall on the ground, dropping your weapon in process.

raising the rifle, the man pointed the gun at you, before remembering lilly's orders. your mind was a blurry haze, heart almost beating out of your cheat and there was no time to think of a proper plan in a situation like this. quickly turning around on the ground, you tried to crawl away and stand up as fast as possible, but before you could do so, a strong grip appeared on your ankle, pulling you back down. a loud yelp escaped your lips. "get back here, you little shit!" he muttered under his breath through gritted teeth. once again, you were laying on your back, when a glimpse of your weapon caught your eye.

with all the remaining strength you've had left, you kicked the man in the knee, which caused him to stumble a bit. you couldn't just lay there and do nothing, so you quickly rolled to the side and just as you were about to reach for the katana, a gunshot went off right next to your body. the man tried to shoot you, but missed. it made you jump, yet you went for your weapon and finally got a hold of it. as you held the katana with your dominant hand, your other hand was used to prompt yourself up into a sitting position. not having any more time, you swinged the rather sharp weapon around, cutting the man on his stomach in process. the wound wasn't deep enough to kill him, but enough to make him drop the rifle, as he groaned in pain.

before the man could attack you once again, you were gone. a few seconds of him shutting his eyes in pain was enough time for you to scramble your way off the ground and hide. "fuck!" you cursed under your breath, taking in the absence of your weapon. back pressed against of the picnic tables, you swiftly pulled out a smaller, dirty knife, secretly hoping it was at least a little sharp. but after all, even with the dullest weapon, you could cause a great amount of damage with the right amount of strength and motivation.

loud yelps followed by a big thud suddenly caught your attention. you swiftly looked to both sides, making sure you're alone at the moment, before raising your head to look over the picnic table. eyes wide, you noticed clementine on top of the man, who was earlier beside lilly, both of them not moving. that soon changed, as clem lifted herself from the ground, while the man screamed in pain, still on the ground. just before she could get up from the ground, lilly appeared right in front of clementine, pointing the weapon at her. "shit, this should be easy." placing her finger on the trigger, lilly breathed out, slightly shaking her head from side to side. "you won't kill me. i know you won't." clem announced, looking up at the brown-haired woman. "why?" lilly asked.

"we were like family once. you won't hurt family." you could only listen the duo's conversation from your hiding spot. lilly and clementine continued to stare at each other, but within seconds they were interrupted by louis rapidly charging at lilly, knocking her down on the ground with him. noticing the rifle lilly has dropped, when she fell, clem got up from the ground, ready to grab it-- that was until a strong hand reached for her ankle and pulled her back on the ground. clementine continued to fight against the man with one hand, while lilly managed to push louis off her and drag him away, as he struggled. when the man was about to reach for clementine again, rosie quickly ran up to him and bit him in the arm, not letting go, which gave the brunette enough time to get up from the dirty ground.

finally snapping back to reality, you noticed all the monsters making their way inside through the broken, front gate. but that wasn't the only thing you've noticed. both violet and louis were struggling against two raiders and you had barely any time to properly plan out your next move. swiftly getting out of your hiding spot, you didn't hesitate to ran up to the raider that was fighting one of your friends and stab them into the side of their stomach with all the strength you had left, causing them to fall to their knees out of shock and pain. you saved violet. with the raider being on the ground, the two of you took the opportunity and ran as fast as you could.

"fall back! pull in and fall back!" lilly loudly ordered to the rest of her group, shooting one of the walkers near her. everyone followed her and quickly made their way back into the woods, but this time with some of your friends. out of breath, you felt the familiar pang of heartache, as you could only watch with the flaming fire burning right next to you..
