Chapter 21
~The Next Day~
Illya was seen walking towards the small park at the intersection road. While she was heading there, she began to think herself. Why did Hibari Kyoya interest her so much? She honestly couldn't find the answer to that question.
More accurately, she couldn't find an answer that she was satisfied with. Just as Illya made it to her destination, she heard something singing. When she looked ahead, she saw something flying towards the boy she was suppose to meet with.
"A bird?!"
"You've come a long way, little one. I remember when i've taken my time and taught you my school's anthem. Though I wondered why you learned it off tone. My school's anthem should be perfect."
"Hibari! Applaud! Applaud!"
"And you're asking for me to applaud you? How cheeky."
Illya couldn't help but be surprised by this scene. Was this really the same Hibari Kyoya with a powerful servant and an overwhelming presence? This was a rare sight for her though. There was something amusing about seeing Hibari being so polite to a bird. Usually he's like "don't mingle" or "i'll bite you to death" most of the time. Seeing him like this took a while to process.
"Hibari! I'll bite you to death!"
"You....you've got some nerve saying that."
"Pfft! Hahahaha!"
"You can stop hiding."
Illya immediately stopped laughing. When she looked at Hibari, she saw the boy staring directly at her. A few seconds passed by as a single word hasn't been said yet. Before Illya could come up with something to say, Hibari merely walked forward with Hibird on his right shoulder.
"So then. What is it that you wanted? I'd like to be out of my debt as soon as possible."
"Simple. As you know, i'm not familiar with this town that much and would like to change that. Since this is your territory, you're the perfect person who could solve this issue for me."
As Illya looked at Hibari, she saw the boy staring at her. Soon Hibari began to walk away. Illya quickly ran next to the boy as a small pout appeared on her face. Did that idea actually bothered him that much? However, Hibari merely said two words to the girl.
"Follow me."
"Hmph. Alright, Hibari Kyoya, don't disappointment me."
~Ten minutes later~
"Hibari-san, where are we?"
"Mount Miyama. This is the shopping district in Miyama Town, which is where we are currently."
As Illya looked around, she saw various types of shops. An antique shop, a chinese restaurant, a food stand and various other shops. However, she had one opinion about the shopping district here.
"It's so quiet. There aren't any long lines or crowds of people here."
"I hate it when people mingle. Crowding around isn't appealing in the slightest to me. Besides, most head to Shinto, the newer district in Fuyuki. Specifically Verde, the biggest shopping center in that town."
Illya hummed in understanding. She could tell that Hibari wasn't exactly the type to be around crowds of people. As she looked at the sky, she saw dark clouds as it looked like rain might start pouring down. However, there is one thing Illya was curious about. As she walked around looking at the shops, she looked towards Hibari.
"So then Hibari-san, is there a place that you love here more than any other?"
"The answer to that is simple. After all, even on days off, not a day goes by where I go outside without this arm band being present."
Illya nods her head as she looked forward. In her mind, she couldn't help but be impressed by how passionate Hibari is when it comes to his school. As the two were walking ahead, they saw a group of people approaching them.
"Kyo-san! We've finished our morning patrol!"
"Vice-chairman. I see, be sure to report to me all the details of your patrol. Texting or calling me would work best for today."
As Hibari looked at the Disciplinary Committee, Kusakabe was a bit confused. Usually Hibari would rather the details be explained to him when the committee gets back to him. When he looked next to Hibari, he saw Illya standing next to him.
"That girl from before. Is Kyo-san showing her around personally so she isn't lost? Guess it makes sense why he wants the usual report at a later time."
"You heard Kyo-san everyone! This concludes our morning patrol. Return home safely and be on alert. Dismissed!!!!!"
As Kusakabe said this, the rest of the committee and himself began to walk away. While this happened, Kusakabe looked towards Hibari and simply nods his head. He knows Hibari better than anyone. He wouldn't simply do this kind of gesture willingly for someone he was suspicious of. While this happened, Hibari looked towards Illya.
"So then, what is it that you want to do now?"
"....well then, considering how proud you are of the place, how about we go to your school."
"I see. Fine then, follow me."
Without saying anything afterwards, Hibari walked forward as Illya followed him. As Illya followed Hibari, a small smile appeared on her face. This was the first time she's seen Hibari so eager about going somewhere. When she looked ahead, she noticed that they were at the entrance of Homurahara Academy.
"Homurahara Academy. The local highschool and my territory. Though ever since this war started, people have started to get my territory involved."
"To be honest....i'd be pretty pissed too if my territory were to be attacked so often as well."
"Hibari-san, can I tell you something?"
"Hmmm? Sure. Since you're not mingling or haven't tried causing chaos to the order of my territory, I guess I can allow it."
As Hibari said this, he was walking around the campus as Illya followed. While they walked through the school, Illya looked at Hibari. He looked so at ease, yet he wasn't letting his guard down.
"You kind of remind me of a cloud."
"A cloud?"
"You're always drifting around, unrestrained. Free to roam around as you please."
As Illya said this, she noticed that Hibari and herself were no longer inside of the school building. Right now, they were standing on the roof top as they looked at the town from their current location. While this happened, Illya decided to speak her mind to Hibari.
"Honestly. If you're a cloud, I guess it's accurate to assume that the sky in this analogy would be the Holy Grail War. It's thanks to this war that you found a reason to fight even more than usual, right? Though I can't help but wonder, just who's side are you on? What is your reason for fighting?"
Illya spoke what was on her mind. Out of all the other Masters, Hibari Kyoya was the most mysterious to her. For one, he managed to become a master despite the fact that all seven classes were already summoned. Not to mention the fact that it seems like he has no wish for the grail, seeing as he only attacks when his territory is in danger. Why? She wants to know the reason behind his actions. What is it that drives him? As she looked at Hibari for an answer, the boy simply looked at the sky.
"I don't like how you phrased it, but you have a point. It's because of the sky that the cloud moves around freely. However, i'm on my own side, no one else's. Besides, someday, i'll even bite the sky itself. As for my reason to fight, that's simple. Everyone has a "pride" they can't give up on, which can only be explained through battle."
"............."
Illya was left speechless. Hibari is on no one's side, yet his presence has such a huge weight. He'll fight whenever his "pride" is in danger and will enjoy the fights, but should things get too chaotic...he'll even bite the Holy Grail War itself to death. If any other master were here, they would see the boy as insane.
"Heh. What the heck?! Hahahaha. That's your answer?!"
"I answer your question and you laugh at it. How cheeky."
"I-i'm sorry. Hahaha!"
Illya couldn't help but laugh. Once again, her interest in Hibari has increased. To be honest, she didn't expect to have this much fun during the war. Let alone with someone like Hibari. Yet for some reason, she felt drawn to this boy's presence. As the girl turned around and began to walk away, she spoke to Hibari.
"Consider your debt to me cleared. Honestly, I never took it so seriously. Though....i had a lot of fun. Thank you, Hibari-oniichan!"
Soon Illya ran down into the school as she was heading back to Einzbern Castle. While this happened, Hibari noticed how late it was. As he looked at the sky, he heard Hibird calling out to him on his shoulder.
"Hibari! Hibari! Was it fun? Was it fun?"
"Fun? Yeah...maybe I am having fun."
As Hibari said this, he whispered something to Hibird. When he was done, the bird flew off into the sky. While this happened, Hibari stood alone on the school's rooftop. However, while he enjoyed the silence, Hibari heard his phone ringing. As he looked at the caller ID, he saw that it was one of his contacts labeled Free Handyman.
"What is it that you want, Emiya?"
~Meanwhile~
Shirou stood on top of the rooftop of a building as he was on his phone. A lot of things happened today. Caster attacking him, Rin, and Saber upon the bridge. Him losing his contract with Saber to Caster. Now he was left behind by Rin and Archer, as he now stood alone. As he held his phone to his ear, the boy thought to himself.
"Why did I fight? I didn't fight because I was a Master. I decided to fight because it was something I could do. Something I believed I ought to do. Tohsaka......."
"Stay out of this from now on, or you're dead."
"Hibari-san..........lend me your strength."
