Chapter 19

Hibari was seen sleeping inside a large bed. As his eyes were slowly opening up, he looked around. He could tell right away that he wasn't in the comfort of his own home. As he stretched his body slightly,he grunts in pain as he noticed that he was bandaged up.

"What happened? If I remember correctly, Kuzuki and I lost consciousness inside of the Reverse Needle Sphere. So how did I end up here?"

"You're finally awake, Hibari-san."

"The little carnivore?"

When Hibari looked to the side, he saw Illya standing to the side. When he looked in the girl's hand, he saw his black gakuran top and the disciplinary committee's armband. Seeing the look on his face, Illya hands Hibari his things.

"I'm sure you have a lot of questions. Follow me and i'll explain the details."

Hibari didn't say anything as he wore his gakuran top on his shoulders as he followed Illya. While looking around, he could tell that the building he was in was enormous. However, one thing caught his attention. The fact that his tonfas were still by his side.

"Since you've got that giant carnivore, it wouldn't make a difference to you if I was armed, correct?"

"Be that as it may, you have a servant who's raw strength rivals Berserker. I'm positive Berserker would win, but your servant caught my interest. Plus you hate being restrained, right?"

Before Hibari realized it, Illya and himself were in a large dining room. As they sat down, Hibari saw two people arrive and stand at Illya's side. They both wore what Hibari assumed to be a uniform. As they prepared tea, Illya decided to introduce them.

"Once more, allow me to introduce myself, Hiabri Kyoya. I am Illyasviel von Einzbern. These two are my  maids/bodyguards, Sella and Leysritt."

"What is it that you want, Little Carnivore? I hate being in debt so lets hurry this up. Just the thought of being put on a leash is irritating."

"It would be wise to hold your tongue when talking to Miss Illyasvie-"

Before Sella could finish her sentence, Illya raised her left hand as if gesturing for her to stop. When Illya looked at Hibari, she knew that dealing with him like a normal person would take too long. A small smile appeared on her face as she looked at him.

"You and your servant are the most interesting pair in this war, Hibari-san. Though I think some advice is needed. If you want to enjoy yourself in this war, then this might help."

"I can already tell that this isn't optional and that its not about me paying you back. I'm on a tight schedule so summarize what you want to say."

"I'll be frank. Your combat ability is high, but in terms of your ranking through the eyes of a mage you'd probably be third rate. For one, you don't seem to be aware of the connection between you and your servant."

Back when he interrogated her in the park, when she brought up the topic, Hibari had no idea what she was talking about. Magical paths, when providing a Servant with magical energy, the Master and Servant are connected by Magical Paths to facilitate the energy. The Master has complete control over how much energy is granted, allowing them to have hold over the actions of the Servant. However, how would she explain this connection to Hibari?

"If he hasn't been properly giving it energy, is the Servant using its own mana? That would explain why it didn't use its Noble Phantasm against Berserker when they fought."

"A connection between Ookami-san and I?"

"How do I put this? You know how wolves howl to communicate with each other, it sort of works that way. As you know, a howl can tell other wolves about another wolf's location, warning about predators, and the position of prey. Now in the sense of magical paths, imagine the howl is your mana and it reaches your servant. You can expect some excellent results. Though with your skills as a mage, your connection might not be that strong."

"Fine. I'll have my own way around it. Though...is there another way you can give a servant mana."

"Well considering how much you love to fight, how about feeding it some of your blood until you "find a way around" your issue with magical paths."

"Final question, why tell me this? You and I are carnivores. Given how this war is, we might have to bite each other to death in the near future."

It was a reasonable question to be asked. He was right, at some point they might have to face each other. So why did she tell him all this information? As Hibari walked away, she looked at his retreating form.

"The way he carries himself. The way it seems like he carries a large weight on his shoulders. Hibari, you kind of remind me of....."

"Hibari-san!"

As Illya called out to him, Hibari stopped as he was inches away from the door leading out of the castle. When he looked at Illya, he noticed her gaze fixed upon him.

"You hate being in debt, so i'll quickly say this. Meet me at the park tomorrow. That's when i'll have you pay me back."

"Fine. That can be arranged."

After saying this, Hibari exits the castle. When he did, he saw Avenger standing before him. The two of them had no words to speak to each other. They simply walked back towards the city. However, one thing was for certain to them.

"Caster and Kuzuki...they'll think twice before causing trouble on my/my Master's territory."

As Hibari was walking into the city, Avenger began to turn invisible as it didn't want the attention of humans. While Hibari was walking through the city, he felt as if someone was watching him closely.

"Whoever you are, stop trying to hide. If not, i'll bite you to death."

"As entertaining as you are, mind who you are speaking to, Mongrel. It's not everyday someone is blessed with my presence."

Cold gray eyes are met with eyes as crimson as blood. As the two stared at each other, the blonde man looked at Hibari. He could tell the boy was injured, yet he was impressed a mere boy like Hibari could still be standing given the shape he's in. Soon Hibari broke the silence between the two of them.

"What is it that you want? I'm in a foul mood, so make this quick."

"Hmph. It's a simple thing that most people here would never have the honor of doing. Hibari Kyoya, it seems you have not faltered in acting as this city's king. As such, I shall expect an answer befitting of a king from you. If you disappoint me, then this land shall no longer have a guardian watching over it."
